14 months after gastric sleeve surgery, I'm sporting a BMI under 25. It's absolutely ridiculous what I've accomplished with the help of this tool. But it has been HARD. Nowadays, I still feel like a fat girl, and I do micromanage all the food that goes into my body (my friends are making fun of me for it now that I'm "slim") so that I can either keep losing or at least keep this weight off. I wish that wasn't such a big part of my life, and I didn't have to think about it all the time, but that's the way it has to work! There's a lot of habits that have changed unconsciously too, so it's not all too difficult. I had tons of stalls and tears along the way an…

I was sleeved 6/22/17 my highest weight was 330 weight day of surgery 319 today I weigh 195. I do fluctuate between 195 to 200. I went from a size 4X and acsize 26w pants now I'm a size large top size 12 pants. I still wanna lose 20 more lbs. I have taken on a more active lifestyle trying new things. I just did a 7 miles hike last weekend. I would have never done that before. I would have had to of been stranded in the desert with the Oasis 7 miles in sight to even think about it before. I walk, hula hoop, dance, anything to keep moving. If I find myself having a lazy day I tell myself you are not this person anymore. Find something to do. It's just a new way of life. I n…

I know some people here have enjoyed seeing my progress, so I wanted to do another update. I recently had my 1 year surgery anniversary from my gastric bypass. I have also reached goal and am no longer losing weight, so I figured now was a good time! I am so happy I had my bypass. I am running, hiking, and doing all the physical things that I was limited in before. I eat well and don't feel any loss or limitation emotionally. I have added carbs back in now that I am at goal, and have maintained well (even lost a little) over the past 5 months since hitting goal and going off keto. I had my 1 year follow up with my doctor, and he congratulated me for losi…

SW - 230lbs GW - 140lbs CW - 160lbs Hello everyone. I just wanted to share my story about my journey. 2 years ago I was overweight and sick. I had diabetes but required insulin 5 times a day. I have very limited activities because I get tired easily. That is why I made a decision to do this and I can tell you now without a doubt that it is the greatest decision I have made in my life! Now, I get to enjoy my life with my kids doing activities, dancing, traveling, spending time with my family and friends! I am a very busy woman as what my friends tell me... I have 5 kids (ages 25, 21, 16, 14 and 6). My two big kids have there own place already. I take care of my mot…

Hi I came here looking for some input on vitamin supplements (which I found .. thank you!), but have found myself intrigued by everyones thoughts, success stories, questions, etc... so I decided to join. I hope any input I can give will be helpful to someone out there! I had my VSG in May 2010 - at 21 years old. I am 5'1", was 260 at my highest and ~245 on the day of surgery. Surgery went well, I had a 2 day hospital stay, recovered nicely, etc. After a couple weeks of healing (I dont remember intial/first couple weeks weight loss), I started exercising .. gradually increasing until I was working out 5-6 days a week, 2-3 hours a day. I lost about 90 lbs in the first…

Happy Monday. Stepped on the Scale this morning and came in at 196 which puts me under 200 with a BMI of under 30 (merely overweight) for the fist time in years.

Finally got the last stubborn pound off and made it to my goal weight of 130 lbs. ? I've lost all 143 lbs of my excess weight. Never thought that I could do that. Quite an accomplishment. Went from 273 lbs in 2015 to 130 yesterday. I'm my ideal weight. Now I'm like, "To maintain or not to maintain at this weight?" Just debating on if I should add a 10 lb gap just in case of regain. Thinking maybe, but I dunno. Finally got here after a week of being stalled out. I don't have a before picture... At least not a full body one, because I hated my body back then so full body pictures were as existent as mythical creatures. Sorry, lol even though I came off as being really con…

04/18/18 marks the day that I finally made it to Onederland! I never thought I'd be here, and still have work to be done, but it feels so awesome to be able to say I'm under 200 lbs. My highest weight was over 340, so to be here feels really awesome. If I can do it, anyone can do it.

As of today I am down 115 lbs since my highest weight ( 255 lbs) and 95 lbs. since my day of surgery (235 lbs) at 5'7'' that has be losing 38% of my body! more than 1/3 of my has disappeared! I went from a size 16/18 to a 4/6 ( the tiniest I have every been as an adult). I was told when I did this that it was unlikely to work as well since I had been on insuling and medication for my diabetes for soo long, but even my doctor has been blown away by my results. I still don't recognize myself in the mirror sometimes, but I am adjusting to thin girl problems; such as, being cold all the time, needing extra padding to define my breast which have gone through a deflation, nee…

I've already posted in the before and after thread. I thought I do a separate thread. Today is my first surgiversary! I've been in a 3 month stall. With RNY, I accomplished my loss without any strenuous exercise (due to a heart condition). I'm 25lbs away from goal weight and I feel great! HW: 334 SW: 319 CW: 205 GW: 180

It is just 2 years since I first saw the surgeon to ask about weight loss surgery. He recommended RNY because of my severe GORD. I ended up having the RNY surgery pm July 2016. My main reasons for having the surgery were 1) I was in heart failure and struggling to walk as far as my letter box each day. I had already given up work because of it. 2) I had high blood pressure despite taking 7 different meds a day for it. 3) I am diabetic and had been taking insulin for 30 years and 4) I needed knee replacement surgery and the surgeon recommended I reduce my BMI from 41 to less than 30. Since the RNY surgery I have had many ups and downs but the weight came off quite qui…

Hey all! I wanted to post and update my progress and share my journey for newcomers. I’m three years out of VSG surgery, start weight 240 lbs at 5’6. My lowest weight after surgery was 114. Scary scary thin. After my surgery I could barely eat for an entire year and had malnutrition and many mental and physical barriers to overcome before I began eating again. It took a year to get my stomach straightened out to where I could eat solid food, and another two years to get my mind straightened out to where I was eating enough food. Surgery like this is a big deal, easier for some, harder for others. Because we are a population that struggles with disordered eating behav…

Hello, I have heard alot of comments on here, it just reminds me of when I first had the Gastric-Bypass done with the ring. It's been since October/2006 and I still eat the same, very little, I still vomit alot. I'm at a good weight right now, but not with the excessive skin. I still am not comfortable in my skin. Does anyone know of a place that does plastic surgery with easy low payment plans. I live in Arizona. Or is there a meeting place to chat about our experience with this surgery. Thanks for listening. Hi everyone! I wanted to take a time out here and share about my weight loss journey, as I close in on my goal weight it's a good time to reflect, look at what worked and what isn't work and set myself to accomplish what I am out to accomplish. I had gastric sleeve in Mexico on 5/26, and started a 10 day liquid diet before. I was self-pay, my insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery. I coordinated with my PCP (who wasn't thrilled, but once she got I was going to do it, we did all the preliminary lab work in advance so there would be no surprises.) The surgery was straightforward and seamless and besides not liking the hotels included in the package (I went t…

Hi everyone, I was sleeved going on a year ago and am at my desired goal weight 135. Ive lost 75 pounds and am very happy about it. Im a size 8 and am the size I was in high school. Most family and friends give me compliments but some people are starting to tell me now that my face is looking too thin and then they go one to talk about how when they lost weight their faces started to look sickly and sunken in. They have all gained weigh since then. I don't really feel that this is the case for me-sunken face-,and quite frankly i can be very critical of myself on my own. It actually hurts my feelings because there is nothing I can do about it. Its not like im going to…

According to my scale and the BMI calculator this morning, I am no longer obese. I’m now in the overweight category for the first time in over 15 years. I’m just over 12 lbs from my initial goal and hoping to hit that mark at my 6 month check up appointment next month!

So my husband is just beginning the process towards weight loss surgery. I've been considering having it done along with him. For those couples here that have done the same, how much time passed between each of your your surgeries?

I am 6 weeks post op and trying solid foods but I can't hold anything down. Two teaspoons in and I'm nauseated. Any suggestions on what to try? I'm sick of soup, applesauce and protein shakes!

Woooo hoooo! Today is the day I hit goal. It all feels like a dream, a very, very good one. Since my surgery on February 15, I have lost 77 lbs. Since the beginning of my weight loss journey beginning on 1/1/2016, I have lost a total of 125 lbs! Woah, that is insane. I have gone from a size 24 to 6/8. Has it totally changed my life? No. Has it changed it for the better? Absolutely. I could list a hundred things, but I won't. A few: I don't dread getting dressed, I can keep up with others at the gym, I love being able to eat a small amount and be totally satisfied (never thought I would ever say that). Everything good far outweighs the bad. The only bad thin…

I’m down 150lbs , been grinding and still not done!

(well, almost) Today I hit 179.6 in the scale... that's .4lbs from normal BMI for 5'11" (and I'm really a smidge over 5'11" so I'm giving myself the .4) Was told it would probably take 1-1.5 years from surgery to get there, but it's only been just under 8 months. Checked with my Nut to make sure I wasn't overdoing it and she wasn't worried and said I was doing great. Started this journey about a year ago at just over 285... couldn't be happier! (that arm candy next to me is my ultra supportive, beautiful wife of 19 years who has also reaped the benefits from the nutritional education and new habits)

Hey everyone i’m super excited to share that today I stepped on the scale this morning and the number I saw surprised me! I finally hit a normal BMI. And I’m super close to my goal weight (I even surpassed my doctors goal weight which was 72 kg) I know BMI is just a number but It‘s been over 25 since i was maybe 14 years old. it’s amazing and I’m super happy. I’m 6 months post op gastric by-pass surgery. My highest and starting weight was 120 kg, my surgery weight was 110 kg, and as of today I’m 71,6 kg. Here are some photos of my journey: This is me at my highest weight This is the day i left the hospital after surgery During the process And one of my latest pics

Hello, just turned 40 on the weekend and wanted to share some pics. Feeling great and within 5lbs from goal!! Never felt better and so happy to have been blessed with this RYN and the plastics that I’ve had done. I’m currently in the process of doing research for the second round of plastics!!

Hi guys! I get on here every six months or so to update y'all I've never made a topic with progress pictures before, so I thought I would this time, as I've been maintaining below goal for almost a year now. SW: 323 CW: 153 Size 24/26 to a 4/6 No skin removal I ran my first half marathon in February and am running another in November, which is pretty cool! When not in race training mode, I run 3-6 miles, three days per week, and do HIIT style training (heavy weights and cardio) at the gym 2-3 other days per week. I tend to fluctuate between 150-153 lbs, depending on the time of month and just general day to day food/water intake.

I am scheduled in March of this year to have my surgery. I’m stuck between the bypass and sleeve. I have metabolic syndrome with PCOS. 24 years old. My biggest problem is my fear of vomiting. I know it sounds strange but I have always had this fear. I keep Zofran handy at home and in my car and anytime I feel the least bit nauseous I take one. So my question is, with which surgery is the nausea the worst? I know it shouldn’t, but this will play a huge role in which surgery I end up choosing.

Doc opened me up and discovered a large hiatal hernia that was missed by the endoscopy. Closed me back up due to my age -69- and says I should have the bypass instead. Advice anyone? So depressed as I have 6 incisions and no sleeve!

Half way there!! Although I might just be thinking “maybe my goal should be more ambitious. Could I get myself out of the ‘overweiht’ range?” for the first time since I was 18! Am loving pulling stored beautiful work jackets and suits out of the spare-room closet, am loving wearing my old Levi’s again, am loving walking every day, from my place downhill to the beach and back up again most days. Am loving feeling good about my food choices, not feeling that kluged-up feeling of having eaten too many potato chips. Am loving people saying “you look good after the summer break, really rested”. No regrets, not a one.

I was diagnosed with metabolic syndrome a year ago. When writing down my reasons for wanting weight loss surgery, one of them was to bring my fasting blood sugar down to a healthier range (it's typically over 200!) I fully expected this to take weeks, if not months. Well, today, only 4 days post op, my fasting blood sugar was 89! That's normal, non-diabetic levels! What are some of your health-related post-op goals?

I had my RNY bypass on 08/23/16 Starting weight: 280lbs Current weight: 199lbs I am no longer in the 200lb club!!!!!!!!!! I wanted so badly to hit this goal before we crossed into 2017 but for 2 weeks I sat idle at 205lbs. I couldn't move those numbers to save my life. It was the worst stall thus far because I was so close to crossing that line. Then the stall passed and in a little over a week I dropped 6lbs and crossed that line! I can't wait to see where this journey takes me!!! Before: After: Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
