I was sleeved October 2018 - about 3 months ago. I was self pay in Mexico, and although the surgery went well, I developed complications about 2 weeks out, and spent the next 2 weeks after that in the hospital. Since then, I've been slowly losing the weight. Haven't stalled yet, and have been able to do so much that I never thought I would have been able to do - things like buy a shirt in the regular section of the store, go to the gym and actually enjoy it, and wrap a towel all the way around my body after a shower. A few people have commented on my weight loss, but I'll be honest, that when I look in the mirror, I don't really see a difference. I'm about half way to my …

Meaning those who reached goal weight and/or are maintaining. What did you do for food? What's a sample of your diet like today? Did you do low-carb or follow everything in moderation? What were your portions like ~3 months out, 6 months out, 1 year..etc? What about exercise, when did you start it (if you did), and what kind did you do? Honestly I just want a good look at what some successful people have done, and the similarities between them. I have this fear that I'm eating too much (portion wise) already, and I'm only 2.5 months out. I haven't gotten sick but I feel like the quantity I can eat is more than others, and I seem to eat until "full". Trying …

Also posted in veteran's forum Through trial & error, I have hit a point where maintenance just feels normal. My eating habits are so ingrained that I'd actually have to TRY to regain. NEVER thought I'd say THAT! My sleeve was 1/23/12 and I was 275. Within 9 months I was at goal, had tt/panni 10/2013. Maintenance was a very thin tight-rope. I was following the plan, high Protein, low fat, almost no carbs. It worked but 1 tiny splurge and I'd be up a pound or so. I hovered around 120-125. Which is great, but it was taking so much vigilance. About a year ago, I noticed that when I ate my favorite ribs from a local BBQ place, my weight dropped. Calories di…

Hello Ladies, Looking for before and afters with stats. Excited to see everyone's progress!

I would love to hear from others who still have their 4cc Lap Bands! :) I have had great success with my band. I have gained some weight back, but that is without my band being completely filled the whole time. I started at 290lbs and got down to 150lbs and was very happy!!! I currently am at 200lbs which my doctor tells me is more successful than most, but I just got a fill yesterday with the hope of getting back down. I am a compulsive overeater and have issues with food!!! I need help on a daily basis with my will to eat. If I know I cannot eat without throwing up, this is my "helper". I cannot stand the thought of throwing up so I am VERY careful to n…

Super excited and had to share with people who understand! I hit 199.7 lbs today. First time I’ve been under 200 lbs for at least 25 years (almost 1/2 my life). I was sleeved on Aug 20. I’ve got a ways to go but it’s really encouraging to see this progress! Weight before 2-week pre-op diet: 265 SW: 255 CW: 199.7 GW: 150

A year ago, I was getting ready for gastric sleeve surgery. I was tired, fat and unhealthy. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and was in insulin dependent diabetic. I was on antidepressants. January 9, 2018 was the day my life changed. And now I’m LIVING! i work out 5-6 days per week, I love kickboxing! I’m down nearly 100 lbs and I feel younger than ever. I’m off all medication and according to my lab work, I’m a whole new woman. For those of you who are considered sugery, DO IT! Be ready to change everything about your current life. My biggest obstacle has been my brain. Changing the way I think about life. About food. About who i have in my…

So I've reached my first goal. I didn't really have a number on the scale in mind, but a jeans size in mind. I want to be at a size 8 and can finally now fit in them. I'm only 4 months out and hope to still lose some weight because of the statistics of people who regain a little. I want to lose more so I when my weight settles, it settles at the weight I'm at now and not 10lbs and a jean size higher. I love my new body and vow to take better care of it from now on so I don't go back!

So on Giving Tuesday I decided I was going through my closet. I may have only lost 40 lbs. so far but they do not fit any more. I put together 6 bags of pants, shirts, socks and shoes. I gave them to the Christian mission in my town. What a great feeling. I may not have the money to donate but I can help in other ways.

We all have or will get frustrated with our weight loss. We all have or will question if we are doing things the right way. I'm not different. I wanted to showcase why focusing on the short term isn't the best thing to do. Here we have my 1 week weigh ins. I'm so super frustrated with this. I've got this goal I want to meet and it's getting tougher and tougher. 2.7 lbs is still a respectable drop. But, I see this line and it makes me sad. Here is my month. 7.4 lbs. This isn't great at all. The downward trend is good, but the rate, really gets me frustrated. Here is where things start looking much MUCH better. He…

I had gastric bypass w/ gallbladder removal and hiatus hernia repair on June 19th, 2017. I will be traveling the next two weeks and won’t be able to post pics so I didn’t then today. Surgery weight 276 Current weight 149 The moment I was able to get out of the hospital bed I started walking and literally haven’t stopped. I was able to start running about 3 months after surgery. I have gone more than 2 days without being active. I run about 30 miles a week and do Orangetheory. I took 6 pills a day for my reflux (had been on them since 8 years old), blood pressure and cholesterol medicine. I walked out of Tampa General and haven’t had to take one single pill. My bloo…

Posting these is hard for me- But if they help someone- I’m all about being real. This is where I came from. Before wls I was at rock bottom in my life. I was overweight, in so much pain, addicted to opiates, in a miserable abusive marriage, terribly unhappy, i could barely work, so hard to walk, so hard to just live. I’d been on or off of a diet since I was eleven. I was constantly binging or starving myself. I’d tried every weight loss plan under the sun and I was totally burnt out. I’d tried therapy, you make it. Perhaps if I’d stuck to therapy that would have worked, but at the point I had surgery I was so exhausted I just needed something sure. I was totally committ…

I was sleeved 10/16/17 with a highest weight of 347, surgery weight of 283. This morning I weighed 174.2! What a year it has been. Ups and downs, struggles and successes, and figuring out the new me. I was a 3xl shirt and 44" waist, and am now wearing a Large slim fit shirt and 32" pants. Life is much more enjoyable with my new found energy, ability to move around, and to squeeze through places I never thought of before. The year has flown by pretty quickly, and I am so happy to have made the decision to go forward with surgery.

The incredible world of thrift stores. Went from a size 46 waist to a 34. Shirt size from 3XL or 18.5 neck to 15.5 neck or L in dress shirts. Will not spend over $3-$5 per item. Having a blast finding great items that fit. Always felt guilty going to big and tall just to overpay for khaki expandable pants. Love getting my wife's attention each morning I walk out the door for work. Only regret, I did not get the sleeve sooner. Gained all my weight from 25-44. Almost made it to 300lbs. Ugh...Now back to 185. You can do this too!!!

Wow, tempus fugit! A year ago today, I went into surgery weighing 284 lbs. Today, I weigh 195 lbs for total of 89 Lbs lost...SO FAR. My original goal was 140 pounds. While I am still headed in that direction, well see what the future brings. Wile I am very happy with my weightloss to date, I thought I would be further along. Oh, I'm not ungrateful, just anxious. I know that I have made some food choices that I shouldn't have, but I try to shake it off, and stay on task. Some days are better than others. I'm still forcing myself to drink lots of Water. I can say I have gotten much better! Along with the weightloss, I have gone from wearing a size 24 to a size 14.…

SW: 300 / CW: 169.8 I’m down only about 8lbs from my last surgiversary but that’s ok I never thought I’d hit onederland, much less maintain 165-170lbs at 5’11” for a year! The past two years haven’t been exactly what I’ve expected—for example, I’m not suddenly in love with what I see in the mirror, still have a long way to go mentally—but this surgery gave me my life back. I was one of the luckier ones who went into this with no comorbidities so my health is about the same as it was but my quality of life is so vastly improved. Next stop: hopefully getting some of this skin removed I haven’t been super active during maintenance but I just wanted to …

Hey y’all. It’s been slightly over a year since I had the sleeve. I’m 5’6”; my highest weight was 266 (size 20 pant, 2x tops), surgery weight was 259, and my current weight is 183. I currently wear size 12 pants, a large in tops (sometimes a medium) . Although I still have some lbs to go, I’m am VERY grateful and thankful for the surgery. I had the surgery for prevention purposes, had no complications either. I changed to a plant based diet and have been very happy and healthy with it. I take a multi vitamin, calcium, b12, and probiotics. I walk and do some home strength workouts. Thats just a tid bit of my journey, I hope it inspires and encourages others. Enjoy my…

I had my revision one year ago today. I’m shocked and amazed at the changes that have occurred this year. My boobs have disappeared, I lost a lot of hair... but more importantly I’m no longer overweight. I still have a belly (and lose skin) but I’m learning to love myself just as I am. I’m so thankful to be on this road. Now I just need to get my butt back in the gym, good news is that it is within walking distance now. No regrets. ❤️

I am officially one year out today -- had my surgery 11/14. On the day of surgery, I had lost 25 pounds to get from 317 to 292, and was incredibly proud of myself. Today I'm 181. I am 14 pounds from goal at a year out. In the last month I lost 5 so -- soon maybe ?? Definitely by 18 months if nothing else. I did a bunch of progress shots at 6 months, figure I'd add to them today! First pick is at my heaviest; second pic is xmas day 2016, so about a year ago; third from 6 months out and the last, of course, is today! First pic here is about 1 week post op -- I was so proud of how much I'd lost, jeeeeeez!! Second picture is around January, I t…

Im 39 days away from my 1 year surgiversary and couldn't be happier with my results. I was able to spend 10 days hiking/roaming in England, Ireland & Scotland in July with my oldest son. The most real comment he made to me was 3 days into the trip when we got done with several miles and were sitting in Green Park outside Buckingham Palace. He looked at me and said we never could've done this when I was fat! Ouch...but so true. So glad I decided to get healthy and live life to the fullest!

Hey all just wanted to update you on what’s going on lately. I reached my first goal of 175. I struggled with a loooooonnnnnngggggg stall. So I went back to the basics. Protein shakes, yogurt, water. Now I’ve crushed my first goal and on to the final. 150! I am at 164 and so happy. Thanks for reading. Hw 289 Sw 243 Cw 164 Goal w 150

It's almost exactly 3 months since surgery and I am down from 120kgs at time of surgery (my highest weight) to under 100kgs (99.5kgs to be exact!). Getting to double digits has been a huge mental struggle for me. I haven't been under 100 for five years now so breaking that point has been a huge relief. Thanks to everyone on this forum. Your posts have been inspirational to me and have got me out of some tough times in this journey.

My Hemoglobin A1c a year ago was 8.3 with four diabetes medications maxed out. Three and a half-months post-surgery I am on the lowest dose of ONE diabetes medication and my A1c is 5.6! A year ago I was at 130/90 with three blood pressure medications; I am now on ZERO blood pressure medications and have a BP of 116/70. This is the best thing I have ever done for my health, and I am so glad I did

Well, I am officially below 200 lbs. I simply cannot believe it. It almost doesn't feel real to me. I never thought in a million years I would accomplish any weight loss goals let alone get below 200 lbs. I have gotten a lot of good advice from members on here and I want to thank you all. Although our journeys are all unique they all revolve around the same basic premise, changing our lives for the better. I still have so much work to do such as working out harder, coming to terms with the new me I am striving everyday to be better. I ask myself, why didn't I do this sooner? I had a great day today.

Wow, how times have changed. On August 2, 2017 I had my very first appointment with Kaiser to discuss VSG. At the time, I was somewhere around 320 lbs, down 27 lbs from my highest weight of 347. I was a 44/46 waist, 3XL shirt, and moving around was a struggle after a while. Fast forward 12 months later and I am now 180 lbs, wearing a 32 waist, L shirt, and have more energy than I have had in years! I put on shorts that I used to wear and was able to fit my new body into one leg! If I can do it, anyone can. Much of the struggle is mental and requires a lifestyle change. I still enjoy myself, cheat on occassion, have a beer, etc. but I am much more mindful and aware of what…

I am happy to answer any questions. From 356 to 207lbs. Who is a happy boy? That would be me. Best decision I've made in my life. Healthier, more confident, better family and social life. Thumbs up all around from moi. Loose skin, hell yeah, does it bother me, not really. It's part of the package. Love y'all, sorry I have not been around a while. I have a life now

I had the SIPS surgery on Valentines day - 2/14/2018. By the way, SIPS is not an option to select on here so had to put duodenal switch since it's the closest match to the type of surgery. Anyway, I paid $17000 out of pocket because I didn't want to wait for months to go through all of the insurance harassment. It is the best $17000 dollars I ever spent in my life, and would gladly do it again. I have no regrets! To be transparent, I did have some complications less than a week after surgery and ended up on feeding bags and in the hospital for a solid month. Even with all of that, I'd still do it all over again. I'm off my CPAP machine for sleep apnea, off bloo…

I’m 5 weeks post op and I went to buy some new shorts today because my other ones were too loose for even a belt to hold up. When I was trying on new shorts I figured that I had only dropped one pant size. Turns out I’ve gone from a 46” waist to a 40” waist. It was a nice surprise. HW:375 SW:338 CW: 301 GW: 250

I had VSG one year ago today. Best decision of my life. I’m down 98 pounds since surgery and 112 pounds since the start of my pre-op diet. Weight day of surgery was 252. Today I am 154. It took me 9 months to lose the weight and I’ve been maintaining between 151 and 156 for the past three months. While I’d like to get below 150, maintaining in the range I am in has been a breeze. Plus, I am at a healthy BMI. I was so hesitant to go through this process. I was border line diabetic, had sleep apnea, chronic back pain, and low energy. I was afraid of the unknowns of VSG, but I refused to let fear make the decision for me. I want to encourage anyone like me to choose VSG. May…

Next week marks my 2 years surgiversary, and I am happy to report that I have kept the weight off! In these two years I have become a black belt in taekwondo, run many, many miles (you can see my running shorts tan line in the bikini photo!), bought bikinis for the first time, and had the confidence to change careers. I also moved recently to a new state. Nobody here knows me as anything but "thin." I have people remark that I don't have to worry about my weight and that is comes "easy" for me. They have no idea! And I am not going to tell them, because this is me now and I am loving my new life! Getting gastric sleeve surgery is the best gift I ever gave myself.

My journey started 2002 with gastric bypass Roux n y with band. I went from 438 to 308 and then started gaining again 2 years later. For years I fought to lose with no results. I had developed a fistula in my pouch. Long story short, I had revision June 7, 2017 to repair the fistula and had to have half of remnant stomach removed. I have now lost from 385 to 298 and feeling great . Sent from my SM-J727V using BariatricPal mobile app

For the past week, my family spent time in our home away from home, South Lake Tahoe, CA. If you haven't been, it's a place you need to visit and fall in love with. We visit there quite often since we are only 90 minutes away. Anyhow, the week was filled with many NSV's and bucket list items for me. Tuesday: Kenny Chesney concert Wednesday: Beach day, parasailing, watching fireworks with friends and family Thursday: 8 mile hike followed by 4 miles walking around Casinos and shops Friday: 6 mile hike and beach day, rented jet skis. Saturday: Top of Heavenly- First time ever ziplining, rock climbing, ropes course, mountain coaster. It was amazi…

I didn't want to post in the before & after sticky, as I'm not quite yet "after." Still have about 15-20lbs to goal. today's a milestone for me, in that it is 6 months exactly since my surgery. So here's how things are going. It's hard to believe that just about a year ago I was 400+lbs. My daughter was born in Feb. 2017, and seeing all the pictures of she and I (a very big "I" ) right after birth made me do a lot of soul-searching about the kind of life I wanted to live and raise her with. I didn't want to be the obese dad that she was embarrassed to be seen in public with as she got older. I didn't want to be the dad that couldn't do certain things with her bec…

I'm 4 yrs out and the weightloss has been super slow but I now weigh 150. It's almost impossible to lose that last 15 lbs. Ive lost and gained the same 5 lbs for months. Everyone I know in my Facebook WLS board seems to think that maybe 150 is my good spot and my body is rebelling againt more loss. On July 19th I'm having a RNY revision. I've had 4 years of severe reflux with my sleeve. Hoping my post op diet and new tool, I may be able to get to goal. Hope so! My before (160) and after (150). If I lose more on my legs, I won't be able to hold the top part up. I look like a marshmallow held up with 2 toothpicks!
