It's been a rough road with lots of nausea and Protein Drink intolerance and more nausea, so the weight has come off a bit faster than my doctor and nutritionist projected, so your mileage may vary. I was sleeved August 8th. I've lost a lot of hair. Pic below is about two shower's worth. This puts me about 76 lbs down from my highest weight. Hang in there guys, I'm finally having more good days than bad. I don't have many recent pics that aren't just selfies but you can see the difference in those even! I have collarbones again, woo! HW: 275 SW: 264 Current: 199.8 Goal: 130-150??? [/url]

Hello friends, Thought it was time to share. I am 21 lbs away from my doctor's goal for me of 175 lbs, although I might want to set another goal if I reach his goal. My surgery date was 11-14-16, so almost 14 months ago. My high weight 10-1-16 was 334 lbs. I now weigh 195 lbs, so I have lost a total of 139 lbs. It really is hard for me to believe. Getting the surgery was the best decision I could have ever made.

How to describe the deep joy that the last year has been to me? I remember feeling like I was holding my breath and time was in slow motion the last day before surgery, excited, scared, horrified that I wasn't able to solve my weight problem myself.. Surgery went well. I was intrigued by the effort it took to swallow even tablespoon of water/protein shake. (Best advice was Water being a priority over shakes the first week or two) Not eating was harder emotionally than physically. What to do instead of eating? It had taken up so much of my time and thoughts. The hardest decision wasn't about the surgery but if to tell and who. I decided to tell my group at work. We…

I remember pre-surgery wondering if I would be successful. And I was. To those struggling with the same concerns, know you will be successful. Though no one can predict possible side effects, my surgery was a major success and I’ve had virtually no issues or complications. since April 2017 I’ve gone from a woman’s size 22 to a size 14. Lost about 105 lbs. I don’t have the stellar full body before and after pics, but the picture below is the best before/after I can find Surgery was the best thing to have happened to me, good luck to all who are on the same weight loss journey

Haven't been here for awhile, but since Im at my 4 year surgiversary I thought I'd check in. 80% of this post is completely plagiarized from last year's update but it gives a good recap of all 4 years.... Year 1 - the year of losing all of my excess weight (100 pounds), dozens of NSVs, and a new wardrobe. By far, the most exciting year. Even the month of liquids, 6 weeks of diarrhea and 2 insanely painful gallbladder attacks couldn't put a dent in my enthusiasm. It was all so new and fun and easy. Life was great and I was invincible! Year 2 - the year of finding out life still sucks no matter what size you are, losing my best friend to suicide, sinking into a de…

A year a half ago was my RNY bypass date . July 29th - my new birthday ! Down 115 pounds and have never felt so wonderful . To this day I still do not touch sugar or foods that contain sugar , very low carb and mainly protein and vegetables . There isn’t a day I regret my decision . I have run several marathons and will be training for 2 triathlons for 2018 . I’m not going to say has been easy but it has been a conscious lifestyle decision I choose to live on a daily basis . I started off a size 18 and now currently a 2. I work out 5 out of 7 days a week and miss it if I can’t ! For all of you starting this process , my words of wisdom to you ... follow your surgeons dire…

Yay! Finally the scale moved down! And I 'shopped' in my underbed storage container - I only have one more set of sizes in there and those are summer clothes, so those will likely get skipped because I'm not wearing sleeveless and capris in Illinois winter!!! LOL

Hi guys today marks one year since I was sleeved. It was quite the journey but I'm so glad I took it. Whenever I have to scroll on here or ask a question I always see people saying they don't have a support system. I didn't either.. I only had one person which was my mom. All you need is ONE person. It can be your doctor, parents, sibling, spouse etc. Don't let anyone or their opinions stop you from changing your life for the better. I'm glad I didn't fall into that trap. [emoji173]️ SW: 316 CW: 172 Measurements: 32-27-40 No plastic surgery has been done YET! Haha

I'm just too excited for this milestone and I know that you all would understand how major this is. Today when I got on the scale it read 198.8! This is the first time I've been in the 100s since probably high school (but I have no idea what I weighted then). I know in junior high I was 186 and I was probably shorter than I am now so this is a pretty huge success. I've never been able to lose weight like this with all of the different diets and workout plans before. I'm so thankful for the sleeve and that my doctor encouraged me to go forward with it. Since the sleeve my high blood pressure has improved, I was able to get rid of a CPAP machine and my chronic ankle pain fr…

I had my sleeve on June 28th. My first weigh in was 236 pounds. Now, I'm down to about 160. It'll feel slow at times, but then it will hit at once. Lol, I was wearing pants two sizes too big the other week because I didn't realize my size. It does take time for the brain to catch up to the weight loss. I'm still working on me and still progressing but so blessed. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Today I hit my first mini goal I set for myself early on in my journey. In February of this year I was at my highest at 327. At my consultation I was 291, surgery date 10/16/17 was 283, and today, 11/23 I am 249.4. 77.6 lbs down overall and over 33 since surgery. I still have work to do, but am so excited to hit the first of many goals I’ve set for myself. My next goal is 225.

I know I really haven't been on here for a while (don't ask me why) but I just wanted to check in and say that I am still doing great. I am almost 14 months post op (RNY) and I am down about 100 pounds (I bounce between 100 to 105 pounds lost). I do still find it a struggle when I get stressed out or get bored (I just want to eat) but overall I could not be happier. My surgeon was so happy with my progress at my one year check up (I have to see him every 12 months from now on) and I still haven't missed any of my support group meetings. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. And don't forget, even though everyone's weight loss…

I am 4 months post op. I am very happy with my weight loss, though it feels like it's going slow. I am down 53 lbs. I started back doing cardio after 6 weeks post op and I am addicted to exercise. Again, I feel fabulous and all my health indicators are great. I just wonder if others are experiencing slow weight loss. My doctor said all that matters is how I feel. I have to admit that it is really exciting to fit in a size 16 again!

Finally 199 lbs !!!!!! I passed the 200 lbs mark without even seeing it on the scale that's what I've been waiting to see. You know for a celebration of sorts lol and flew right by its so funny. I'm so excited. I had come to the realization that I've lost all this weight and I felt that I got skinny but then 4 mths ago started going in the other direction of everything is sagging and wrinkling and so I told myself well if I don't lose anymore weight it's okay. (I have energy like I had in my 20's. Wow even stamina!) I would be happy cuz then I wouldn't be sagging but I'm so excited. I can sag. I don't care. I'm doing things now that I haven't been able to do since I was i…

Hi, I'm new to this forum, just went to the consult & decided to go with the lap band since I'm honestly scared to death of doing the sleeve since I prefer the less-invasive type of procedure & it's totally reversible. I just made the 3 nutrition appointments along with the pulmonologist & therapy appointments. I just wanted to know I do realize there are risks to any type of surgery but would like to hear all the success stories of the band. I just hope it's not too painful of a recovery & I hope to God that I stick to what I'm supposed to do to have success. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!!

Are other losers loosing weight and not drinking as much water as they have been told to drink? I can only manage about 40 fluid ounces, I try every day to drink more but it makes me sick and I was becoming obsessed by it as it is drummed into us how important it is. I’ve lost 63 pounds since August, so I’m about half way. I’m not too unhappy, I know I would probably have lost more if I drank more or would I? You tell me. Also cant exercise because my hips packed in and I need a new one!

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I was sleeved on June 28th and I've lost 73 pounds. I went from a 26/28 to a 18/20 and still have lots to go. (From 335 now 263). It WAS 76 pounds lost but over the past week and a half I gained 3 pounds [emoji30]. I did not get this surgery to gain weight and I'm so pissed at myself!! Since Thanksgiving I've been shoving every damn carb down my throat that I can find. If it has yeast I'm eating it. Rolls.. Crackers... Waffles.. Potatoes.. It's like something triggered this mindless grazing I've been doing. I've been pretty angelic up to this point and I feel like I've lost control. I need to refocus, and I wonder if anyone el…

I'm 5 months out after gastric sleeve. I've lost 114 lbs. Never thought I'd lose so fast. Now people seem to give me a hard time saying I've lost enough. To stop. My goal is 165 I'm currently 205. So 40 more to go. No regrets. Best decision I've ever made. Below is before and agter. At 100 lbs lost Sent from my SM-S727VL using BariatricPal mobile app

So-- I have lost 70 pounds now and four sizes, and apart from my husband, mother, and brother/sister-in-law, nobody-- not one person!-- has made a comment about it. Not even a vague "looking good". It is so bizarre to me! I still have 40-50 pounds to go, but I see a huge difference when I look in the mirror. Did this happen to anyone else? I know this is not why I had surgery, I'm not in it for the glory or vanity, but... weird, no? I thought someone would have noticed and/or suspected something by now...

I'm curious if people are very hungry a few years out? I attended a support group meeting and I did hear how hungry some people were and most were between 1-3 yrs out. The nurse running the meeting seemed to think it was what they were eating. i.e. not getting enough protein and eating too much sugar. So for those of you out 2+ years, are you just as hungry as you were before the surgery but can't eat as much? Do you find that following same type of plan as nutrionist helps with hunger. How tough is it too maintain. Do most find that you don't loose past the honeymoon phase. I keep hearing about how critical it is to maximize weight loss during the 1st year. I…

Hello! I am having my surgery tomorrow (!!!) and I am 5'10". HW 297, surgeon says he thinks i can get down to 150. Doesn't sound doable to me, so I thought I'd see if there are any tall women out there who can share their success stories with me! I'm shooting for 175 and will go from there....I'd love to hear your stories!

Hi all, I decided right before my surgery (11/7/17) that I would not purchase a scale. I figured I will be weighed when it truly matters (in office ) and I would focus all of my attention on NSV. So far it feels wonderful not worrying about numbers and it allows me to build different goals like meal planning, water intake challenges and walking goals. I think I will only buy a scale if my doctor recommends . Anyone else on a similar path?

Would love to hear from others whose BMI is less than 40 or who started at BMI of 35 or less. Unlike many, I have not been morbidly obese for my entire life. Yes, I know I'm lucky. After successful treatment for 2 cancers - both still in remission after 8 and 9 years, then an appendectomy in 2012, found my weight constantly moving upward from 141 (BMI 25) to 200 (BMI 35). The last 18 months my weight zoomed from 184 to 200 while I was working on medical weight loss with my doctors. I have high cholesterol and GERDS so when I hit 35 BMI my doctor suggested RNY. The surgery was August 2 2017, so just a week out. My stretch goal is 130; my stable, long term goal …

Hello, I had my surgery on 11/14 of last year. It's so hard to believe that it's been a year. My first goal was to lose enough weight so that my surgeon would be able to perform a much needed surgery. He said I needed to lose 80-100 pounds first. I weighed 334 at the time. When I lost over 80 pounds, he scheduled my surgery and I had that in June. So after that, I set another goal, which was to reach that 100 pound weight loss mark. I believe I reached that goal in August. My newest goal was to reach 199 pounds on the scale by my 1 year mark. I almost made it, as I am four pounds away. No picture to share today, but maybe I will soon. I still hat…

I can't believe I'm typing this! I'm so close and it doesn't feel out of reach. Sure, it might take me a few more months to get there but I don't mind. I'm thrilled with my progress. At 14 weeks out I've lost 78 pounds. Keep it up to those just starting the journey. Its not always easy but it is worth it! Sent from my LG-TP450 using BariatricPal mobile app

I had gastric sleeve in April of 2017. My starting weight was 316. My weight loss goal was 240 - 250. My current weight is 180. I have always been a big guy. By big, I mean NFL big. When I graduated the Army’s Basic Combat Training at age 18, I weighed 225... all skin, bone, and muscle. Something happened when I retired from the Army. I just got fat. I shot up to 316lbs and was turning diabetic. My wife and I were without children, so I saved $20,000 to do in vitro fertilization (it ended up costing $40k). After two tries, the wife got pregnant. I needed to live for another 20 years so I decided to have gastric sleeve surgery. I lost all of the weigh…
