In the first pic, I’m the one on the right side of the photo. I was already a mother of 4 wonderful kids, but I was miserable & very unhappy with my weight. I was insecure and embarrassed at how far I had let myself go. So, I started doing 5k runs to help myself lose weight. Being active was never a problem. I was disciplined enough to get out on a track, do step aerobics, or walk/run some bleachers. However, it was my relationship with food that was the problem. When I started my journey to get the sleeve, my surgeon said something that stayed with me: “The sleeve will guarantee weight loss in your first year out, but YOU have to utilize that time to CHANGE YOUR L…

Hey everyone its been a while! December 18th 2018 was the day my life changed forever. I was a whopping 304 pounds and now 1 year 3 months post operation I have lost 176 pounds I am currently at 128 pounds. I hope you all have had as much success as I have had if not even more! Feel free to post before and after photos as I will do below. Hugs and kisses to you all! ??

  5. Seven months after a Duodenal switch revision surgery I reached my goal weight of 190 lbs. That's 110 lbs. down from 300 at the beginning of 2020. I've adjusted well to my daily nutrition plan and am exercising every day.

This week I am 4 and a half months out from gastric bypass and down 113 lbs! I am 20 lbs away from goal but more importantly, I've gone from a size 28/30 barely fitting to a 12/14 depending on jeans or shirts and slacks. The red outfit I have was in a photo from yesterday; the outfit has been in my closet through a move from one state to another and 5 years as a 'goal oufit' that I was always depressed to think to never even come close to wearing! I was jumping up and down when this size 14 outfit easily slipped on yesterday. I honestly teared up seeing it finally come unfolded and the tags come off. Well, we are in NY, it's COLD and by the time winter subsides, I wi…

I am now exactly 13 months out and I am settling in to new habits. I still eat everything I may have a craving for, but I have trained myself (and used my sleeve) to only have a couple bites of the bad things. I have found that for me physiologically I do much better when I am not as restricted by WHAT I eat, but rather HOW MUCH. High protein and low carb are my normal now and I couldn’t be happier! Day of surgery weight: 321 (although pic is 340) After pic weight: 194 3XL shirts are now large 46in waist now 34

  9. Started by rjan,

I'm 9 months out, and I am very, very happy with where I am at. I had my surgery March 11, 2020. I've lost a total of 52 pounds since I started - 48 pounds since the surgery date. SW: 208 CW:156 GW:149 and I'm 5'5". This means I lost about 90% of my excess weight, which studies show is a very typical result for a patient like me who started out with a relatively low BMI (35). Of course I would still like to lose those last few pounds and officially make it to a normal BMI, but I am very happy with where I am now and would still consider it a resounding success if I can maintain at this weight. I am big boned, and people tell me that I look like a completely normal th…

I'm only only 5 months post op (sleeve), but I had to post this! HW 308, SW 288, and current weight 198! Yes!!! I've made it to onederland! I know I haven't had as much to lose as some others might have, but this is really exciting! Haven't been this weight since I was 14! It's been a hard road, and it ain't over yet (well, it never will be, really), but it's great to finally be here! Plenty of NSVs along the way! No more meds for blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglycerides. No more snoring at night. Went from a tight size 44 waist to a loose 34.

I hit 100lbs lost for my birthday back in September, and NOW, just in time for Thanksgiving, I've FINALLY reached onederland!!!!! I had to run out of my bathroom and cry into a pillow so I didn't wake my husband with my excitement lol. I still have a ways to go, but I haven't weighed this since I was a preteen, and... just... AHH!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I celebrated with air fryer shrimp and turkey bacon for breakfast lol.

Hello everyone, I would lile to share that I had my surgery 13 years ago, no complications before or after surgery, at the beginning of course was difficult because is a new life with totally different eating habits, portions, but the most important is to be ready mentally and emotionally so we can be strong to stop ourselves to eat or drink something not in our new menu for our new condition. Second, follow every single step and everything will be fine. Exercise with a simple walk around the house but maintain your body in movement, at the same tine we are helping out stomach tissue to heal faster. Righ now,, I am able to eat everything but I never exceed and I continue …

I've lost 98lbs, and my birthday is in one week. I am almost 8 months post op (will be on 9/6), so maybe I can get 100 for my birthday? It'd be so awesome! I also had a HUGE NSV today- the pants I was wearing in my before picture were a size 28, and I can fit SUPER comfortably into a size 18 as of today! (Almost need a 16 now; definitely gonna get a belt for the first time in my life soon).

  18. Started by Daisyjayne,

I've lost 45kg total since my sleeve in October 2019 and I feel amazing! Still have days when I feel big, but then I take pictures like this and think holy cow! I've been doing bodypump classes and I'm even seeing some baby muscles in my arms and legs, and it's really helped with my loose skin. Now to work on maintaining, which has always been the hard part of weight loss for me.

  19. I feel it's time to tell me story as best I can and hopefully it will give the new comers some hope and take away their worries or anxiety about surgery. Okay I have a very dysfunctional childhood and I think maybe subconsciously I turned to movies and food as a way to cope until alcohol came along but all those things combined made me gain weight massively in my teen years. As a child I was tiny but after my father passed and my stepfather came in the picture; he was a tyrant; life changed dramatically. Anyway fast forward to the end of high school I had reached over 250lbs and by 21 I was 320lbs and my weight fluctuated over the years between 300-320 unti…

Hey! Long time no see. I know I was here a lot right before and after surgery asking lots of questions but work got the better of me and I've switched jobs and just haven't had the time. However, I wanted to check back in and let everyone know how I was doing. Recap of my stats below. HW: 353 (measured but I'm sure I was in the 370's before) SW: 327 - Surgery Date 10/22/19 CW: 204 GW: 190? Yup - 123 pounds down since surgery and I'm still losing. My original goal was 210 so I would be overweight and not obese (by BMI) but after doing research and realizing that most people hit a low number and then settle about 10-15 pounds up from that I'm n…

  22. I feel i need to share my story I may be one of the lucky ones but my journey has been nothing short of AMAZING. spent probably half my life obese and hating myself until I found of out about WLS. It has changed my life completely. It has made everything so much better. I got up to my highest of 322 lbs with multiple comorbidities including diabetes. I thought I would die young and gave no future but now the future is looking so good. leading up to surgery I made sure i did a ton of research and finally decided on RNY BYPASS and it was the best decision ever. Obviously i had my reservations going into this journey I didn't believe the bypass…

Wanted to share some 8 month progress pics. I am a former college football player turned desk jobber that really lost my way. I decided to be sleeved after going to doc and BP was scary high. Father had heart attack in early 40’s and I was on track to beat him. Wanted to be around for my kids. Started at 6’2, 360lbs. Initial goal weight of 200lb Currently at 220, but really beginning to like what I see in the mirror. Fell in love with the gym. I know I’m in the honeymoon period (8 months in) but this has really given me a new lease on life.

-Highest weight was over 250 lbs (I stopped weighing myself after that) -Lowest weight 140 -Currently, I fluctuate between 150-155 -I exercise 5-6 days a week. MOSTLY weight lifting. I lift heavy weight (meaning: I rep until I hit failure, between 8-12 reps; if I can lift it more that 12 times, I go up in weight). Very little cardio, maybe 10-15 minutes before or after a workout. Sometimes none. -Food: I track my macros and calories. I make sure to hit my protein goals everyday (so important for muscle growth/maintenance), and my carbs vs fats will fluctuate based on my activity. Higher carbs on intense workout days, lower carbs on off days or low activity days. So, c…

This is a long post. I promise there won’t be many like this. My hope is that my story will help inspire someone that is on the fence. My story is about some really good decisions I’ve made including marrying my wife. I submit to you that our respective journeys are about decisions and commitment to a process. The surgery fixes the physical for a period of time, but it does not work on your brain. The short and sweet version: HW: 602 lbs I very rarely admit to this. SW: 552 lbs CW: 260 lbs Total weight loss: 342 lbs On this day 2 years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life. At the time, I had no idea how great I was going to feel or th…

Its been 15 years and 10 months since my surgery and I have lost 196 lbs and kept it off. I have a goal for this year of getting down to 164 lbs from 199 lbs where I'm at now. I was 24 lbs heavier just over 2 months ago. I've been using an app called myfitnesspal.com to lose the weight. It took my a little bit to get the hang of it but now I'm comfortable with it. I pick my foods and it gives my the serving size and calories and deducts the calories from my daily limit. It sets up your plan by diet, starting weight and goal weight. As you lose the weight you change your current weight and it adjusts your allowable daily calories to keep you losing weight. I tried it free …

Hello, all! I haven't posted in a while but I'm back (for now, hahaha). I had RNY in January 2019 and I'm sitting around 274. I've lost about 145 pounds since the surgery but I've been in a weird headspace about it since I'm not yet at goal. I think I put myself in maintenance and have gone back to basics in terms of lowering my caloric intake, watching my macros, and making sure I get at least 64 oz of fluid in. Hopefully I hit goal by the time my 2 year surgiversary rolls around, but until then, I'm celebrating all of the small victories. The best ones to date? I had a doctor's appointment today and the arm cuff fit around my upper arm! And my blood pressure was g…

  29. In the last 6 months, I've lost 35kg, dropped my body fat percentage from 40% to 25% and have lost countless cms from my body measurements. My surgeon, dietician and exercise physiologist we're delighted with my results. In fact the surgeon said "gee, you've lost the weight well" when he saw me. I'm assuming he just means I look awesome now lol. I'm now in the healthy BMI range. And my fave result, my thighs no longer rub when I walk! This surgery has been life changing in every way, I wish it had done it ten years ago, and skipped another 5 cycles of yoyo diets and all the associated self loathing and trauma. My before photo is not even at my biggest, I go…

Today is my three month post sleeve day, and I have lost a total of 61.4lbs!!!!!! This is wild- I'm SO close to my high school weight again. No more blood pressure or cholesterol meds, I have more energy than I've had in years, I crave healthy foods and eat well... this is the reason I had the surgery. I needed that push to get me going. It's been the best tool I've ever had to become healthy. I am just legitimately so happy to finally feel like a human again... after I'm finished with my breakfast, I'm going out on my new bike for a victory lap lol

  34. Hello everyone! This is my first time posting anything to a forum, so please bear with me! I am 5' 5" and 225lbs. I went into my first surgery consult last night thinking that I wanted to have the gastric sleeve. Because I have a history of heartburn, and already take Protonix, my surgeon also suggested a gastric bypass. He said that there is a much greater risk of my heartburn getting much worse with the sleeve procedure vs gastric bypass. I also have type 2 diabetes, with A1C's always at or below 7. I take Jardiance and Metformin, although the Metformin had been prescribed originally for my PCOS. What has your experience been? How did you decide which surgery was best f…

I had my first appointment with the Bariatric clinic on 12/17/19, to get the ball rolling. For the first time in my life, I feel like reaching my goal weight is a realistic possibility. I thought it might be fun to tell some stories that could have ended in disaster, but that ended up being successful, or at least good learning experiences. I'll start. My husband and I went to an outdoor evening wedding today. Yes, it is Arizona, but it was still chilly. I was FREEZING! I had on a long dress, thick stockings, a scarf, a fleece vest and a long wool coat over that, but I got so cold waiting to go into the reception that my teeth were chattering. I had to actually go into the car and get the heater going so I could warm up. This part of weight loss is definitely NOT pleasant - in fact it is downright miserable. But then we got into the reception a…

Hi all. I am now down roughly 60 pounds and seven weeks out from when I started my liquid pre-diet. Am also having some awesome NSV moments. Some are: No longer wearing 3x shirts. They are packed and ready to be taken to Goodwill. My size 48 (expandable) pants? Gone too. Can button my pants at my belly button. No more "slant pants." I wore a much smaller belt...and it was a new one! Went three days this past week without needing a mid day nap. Three days now without any slimes or throwing up. Joined a local health club to work out. Snoring is all but gone. No more BP meds at all (125/65 is normal now). And BMs much more normal and less stressful. Bought myself an I-tou…
