  1. It's a really odd question. Recently I've been feeling more confident in my self. When usually I never think I look good. I've gone from a UK size 22 to a 14 ( I don't like tight fitted) and people are acting different around me. You know.. people tell you people change. So sure it's a confidence boost. All the compliments.. But then I get on the scale. And I'm 190lbs. I've never been 190lbs before from 250ish so it feels like I'm doing good. But now I realise in the whole scheme of things I'm still pretty big compared to other people lol its a shame so I feel self conscious again.. My mind still feels like a fatty. ( No offense id only call myself that. …

I used to frequent this forum, and somewhere along the way I got used to a new normal, and I haven't been back here for a long time. I was thinking the other day, that I should check back in, and sprinkle some hope around... because more than 5 years later, my story remains a textbook case of Lapband success and I love sharing it for those who are struggling through their first few weeks and months post surgery! Today I weigh 138 pounds. I most certainly haven't forgotten I have a band... it's still VERY present in my life, and a daily reminder of so many things. I still have "stuck" episodes... more often than you might imagine.... there are still foods tha…

What a journey! I don't feel like I'm at the finish line yet, but my life is 100x better. I go on walks with co-workers that I would have been afraid to take before for fear of passing out. I fit into a size 14 pant. And most of all, I don't hate myself for not having the willpower to lose weight. I'm 4.5 months out and highly recommend this surgery to anyone considering it. It's been a wonderful experience that I hope to benefit from for the rest of my life. Hw 310 Sw 299 Cw 229 Gw 180

Hi All, Nice to meet you, I'm Wika, 28 y.o! It is probably uncommon for asian, especially in my country to do VSG. I have always been heavy since I was a kid and bullied because of it (mainly from elementary to high school). My self esteem was so low that I could not even love myself. Last year I have finally decided and told my parents to get the surgery done no matter what. I hate not being able to love myself and the social pressure around me was so high. I gotta admit that the reason I did my surgery is 80% because I don't want to be called fat anymore by my peers (and family), because it hurt me. My parents allowed the surgery and paid for it (phew! glad!) …

  5. Today I had an "ah-ha" moment. It took 4 years, but I think I get it! It was triggered by this before photo popping up in my facebook memories from 5 years ago, (coupled with my most recent post-op photo taken last week, down 120 pounds since surgery in 2013). (attached below) ....And then reading the following quote on a friend's post: "Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't you so you can be who you were in the first place." I've struggled for years since losing the weight after surgery with questions of "is this the 'real' me, or am I just pretending and the 'real' 'fat' me will resurfac…

  6. I know when I was recently post-op I wanted to know what my life would be like after the dust settled, so to speak. When I had surgery I was 56 years old, at a weight of 234 lbs and a BMI of 35.6. I wore a size 22 dress and size 10 shoes (I'm 5'8). Dr. Alberto Aceves did my sleeve in Mexico (a 36 trochar) and repaired a large hiatal hernia. I was self-pay. After my surgery I lost my hunger and also developed some food aversions. I lost 102 lbs over about ten months. I followed the post-op instructions as well as I was able although some days I was not able to drink all my protein. When I graduated to solid foods I learned that regular bread seemed to ball up in my stomach…

7 months and 11 days.. 100lbs down!!! This also happens to be the lowest weight I reached during my last big diet in 2008. I have 2 kids that are trick-or-treating tonight. This time last year I vomited after walking up the hill next to my house (the exertion was just too much). I'm still pitifully out of shape, so we'll see if I fare any better

I obviously plan on working out after surgery when my surgeon gives and clearance. Do you have to go to a gym? Does anyone have any workout recommendations you do at home and are they as effective as going to the gym. I am a mother of two and want to do workouts that I can still be around my children or at least not have to find a babysitter all the time.

Hi there, My highest weight was 311 and I've lost about 20-25 pounds so far during pre-op. I just started my liquid diet a week ago and still have three more weeks to go - not sure how much I will lose but I can definitely tell I'm losing. Anyway, my goal weight is 160 and I've noticed that most people who get down to a similar weight started off around 260 or less. I'm wondering if, since my starting weight was 311, will I even be able to achieve 160 years from now or should I adjust it and raise it to 185 or something like that? Any advice or tips? Thanks so much in advance!

Third photo is my face at highest weight before preop diet. My pants are size 14 (brand runs large). Top vest is a large. Undershirt is a tight medium.

Today is day 97 after Gastric Sleeve surgery and I am down 80 pounds since I went under the knife. I fee; good, but not great. Still haven't gotten back my energy. To be fair, I spent a month on antibiotics for a post-op infection. This week I plan to start an exercise regimen that hopefully help with boosting my energy. My iron is a bit low and my B-12 is off the charts high. Vitamin D also low. I began using the MD patch for my vitamins a month ago and I believe it's working well. My blood tests were done only after 10 days on the patch. That's my story and I'm happy to stick to it.

I had my gastric sleeve surgery exactly 2 months ago today. As of this morning I'm down 60 lbs. It took less than a week after surgery for me to get back to exercising. Prior to surgery I would walk 7-8 miles 3-4 times a week. I would also spend 30-45 minutes on the elliptical a couple times a week. This made the post-surgery transition much, much easier since I had been exercising from the very beginning.

Good morning, everyone. I am very proud to report that as of this morning, I have achieved my weight goal of 180 pounds. My one year surgery anniversary was last Thursday (September 28), and I met my goal on Monday, October 2. I have lost 217 pounds from my initial weight of 397 pounds at my first pre-op appointment on March 3, 2016. My skin has done incredibly well for a person who has lost this kind of weight. I may pursue some kind of plastics later on, but for right now, I am pretty happy. I am wearing a 30-32 waist pants/jeans/shorts, and small shirts. It is incredibly amazing to me, and I am still shocked every time I try on something new. I still at…

December 2015 I had my first back surgery. I could hardly walk, and was heavily medicated with opioids to get through the day. Surgery was a success, until I had a relaps at the same place not even a year later. Long story short. I had 2 nerve blockages that worked for a while, but in the end, my surgeon said I needed to be operated on again. We decided to wait and see if the wls would help my back. The pictures below are from March of this year, only 7 days after my wls, and from Saturday. The herniation has been reduced to almost nothing, the spine covering the nerve is almost nothing, all due to loosing almost 90 lbs. I see my neurosurgeon on Monday, but…

Since then God has blessed me to get permanent disability payments, and Medicaid; which paid for me to have the duodenal switch surgery. I had my surgery on March 28, 2017. I started out at 467 and currently I weigh 313! I'm no longer on any medications, except vitamins and lasix. The swelling in my legs and ankles are nearly gone. I feel and look so different. Sitting in a doctor's office a woman I used to be comparable in size to asked me to trade seats with her because I had (out of old habit) sat down in a bigger chair without arms and the only seat left was a smaller chair with arms. She walked over and blushingly embarrassed and asked if I would mind moving over to the other seat so she could sit down too. I smiled politely and told her of course. She joked that some chairs were for skinny people like me and some were for fat people like her. I felt the hurt in what she said. I remembered it, I knew the bitter taste of those words.
