Is there anyone on here who is from Northwest Ohio? That is were my sister lives and she is considering having lapband. Her insurance does not cover it so anybody knowing anything about lapband in that area would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi! I'm from Macon, GA and am going to be having my lapband surgery on July 19th with Dr. Bagnato. I am SHOCKED that my insurance company approved me on the first try! I am glad I found this forum to come to and ask my millions of questions. My family isn't too supportive of this decision. They think I should lose weight the "old fashioned" way and think I'm just trying to take the easy way out. It's irritating because I HAVE TRIED the old fashioned way! I had to do 6 months of dieting prior to this and guess how much I lost? NOTHING. I look forward to getting to know folks and hopefully see great results soon!

  5. OK today I just found out my antidepressant isn't doing any good since it was a sustained release tablet. Grrrr......(stupid PCP) And I was just making my protein shake for today and noticed it says Matrix 5.0 sustained release formula? Is this the same principle? I would just cry if I have been drinking this all month and no nutrients are being absorbed? Anyone drink this too?

  9. Hello All, My name is BandedSweety96 and I am 10 days Post-op Allergan Lapband. My doctor is Dr. John Marsden and I had my procedure done at Baylor Plano. Sleeved in January 2011. Lost 87 lbs the first 11 mos. My weight at the beginning was 349, so I am still morbidly obese at 262. Yes, I'm thinner, yes I'm healthier, yes, I'm happier, but NO, I'm not satisified. My husband also had the sleeve in the same month, he's lost 130lbs. He is still morbidly obese at 280. He is ok with where he is at. Would like to lose more but he is happy with where he is at, he thinks it was a success. I want at least 63 more pounds off in order for it to be a success for me. We both eat about 1800 calories a day, sometimes 2000, sometimes 1500. We both bike and walk. I guess the real secret is eating 1000 calories a day and to be ho…

Am 35 and the heaviest I have ever been at 190 lbs. I hate the feeling of my fat rolls(as when in my bras and sitting it hurts/discomfort). About 8 years ago I was fit and a size 2 and even then only wore comfy clothes. I am doing this surgery for several reasons: 1. Feel comfortable in clothes 2. Not having to buy new clothes all the time as I can't squeeze into my current 3. My weight is contributing to my back pain. 4. Feel confident again (I've never been vain and shy away from attention even when I was a size 2, but dislike the way some people treat me compared to when I was small). My weight is a hard thing for me as I'm a very successful person with business/home…

Hi! I'm new and my surgery is July 6th,tomorrows the first day of my pre op liquid diet. I'm very excited and nervous, caught myself thinking all the terrible what-ifs and almost backed out, then I was admitted to the hospital with gallbladder pain, I thought it was a heart attack and at 29 years old that scared me back into the reality of why I need this surgery. I'm in Arkansas and have no face to face support group so I'll be here lots.

Hey guys, I'm waiting on my approval from the insurance! They submitted everything to UHC on 6/28. I called today and they said they had received every thing and it was in a pending status. It has to go through a medical review team and then a medical director for approval! I'm so anxious to get this approved and to get a date! Please keep me in your thoughts! I'm so ready to start the journey and be on the loser's bench with everyone! Hugs to every one on this journey!

  20. I am 34 years old and 285 Ibs. This is the largest I've been. In the past I've always been able to manage my weight with diet and exercise. This time last year I lost 20 Ibs with diet and exercise and thought I was on the right track again, but I gained the weight back plus some. I hate the way I feel when I'm heavy and I hate the way I look in my cloths. Recently, my mother and I went to a lap band seminar because I've just been so sick and tired of the way I look and feel. A close family friend had the lap band and has shown positive results in the last three years. My question is: I have been GRAPPLING with the idea to do the surgery or not to do the surgery.…

Okay well I was banded twice. The first time a leak. The second time a kneek in the line. Found a new Dr. To do my sleeve. My 2 hour surgery turned into a 5 hr surgery. Slow recovery. Feeling a whole lot better. I started out at 225 on my first band. When I got my sleeve I weighed 200. I'm down only 20 lbs. Really going slow. Had my sleeve done May 22,12. I need to start walking maybe that would help. I'm so glad I found this sight. I think it will help me.

I am so excited to get this surgery and feel some support from other people going through the same thing. I'm 23. I got the lap band 3 years ago. At this point the sleeve hadnt been approved yet. And before surgery I was 250. After surgery I really got on the bandwagon, but I just couldn't lose the weight. I struggled with trying to eat constantly. I threw up constantly. Even Protein that I was supposed to eat, I couldn't get down. It was depressing. It was enbarassing. I couldn't go out to eat without staying in the bathroom throwing up all my foo…

Hello! I had the sleeve done on July 2nd. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days. The worst pain I had was the gas eight after surgery. I pretty much just had to burp it out...gross. I was nauseous at times but they gave me plenty of meds to counter that. Since I'm home I am walking around about 30 minutes daily throughout the day and feeling much better. I just have headaches ( not sure if related) and still have that gassy feeling so they prescribed me some anti-acid medicine for that. It's been working okay. My insides feel like I did a bunch of situps but as the days go on the pain lessens. 4/5 incisions I can hardly tell they are there. The largest incision stings a b…

Hey all, I'm Ray, and I'm on my way to RNYGB. I've been creeping up the scale from 235lbs in 1995 to a bulging 415 at the beginning of 2011. High BP, borderline diabetic, loving food, life was good. Of course, then life expectancy for males in my family was around 62, and being 52 now, my retirement plan was to work until I literally and actually dropped. However, life puts important people in your life that can change your perspective, and that happened to me: Kellylynn. So I began to get selfish. I decided that I wanted more time on this rock, to lengthen my trip on this rock, and to do that. I needed to care about myself and my health. So, I saw the Docs, got some test…

Hi! I have been pursuing WLS surgery for 4 1/2 years. I had just finished my 6 month requirements and tests when I lost my job and insurance. Three years later I got new insurance and started the process over. I again just finished all my tests and was about to meet the surgeon and submit the paperwork when I was diagnosed with stage 3b Colon Cancer. That put a roadblock into proceeding further. I had colon resection sugery and did 12 rounds of chemo treatment. On May 15th I had my first CT scan since I finished chemo and it was clear, so I was given the go ahead to continue on with my journey. They only made me repeat a few necessary tests, then submitted my paperwork to…

After trying everything to loose weight, one year out the dr and I decided that it was time to discuss doing the surgery again. I tried for 4 month to get insurance to pay for a resleeve and they denied it Everytime. So as june approached I told the doc to try to get bypass approved. It was. I had my bypass on June 28. Up to that point my weight had Bounced between 375 to 420. I had tried most diets known to the human race and I was never able to get much below the 375 mark. I had contemplated surgical options but it was not until my diabetic diagnosis that I decided to get on the ball and actually explore what options I had. A handful of my family members have had weight loss surgery of one type or another and all have had amazing success.
