Hey there! You can just call me Blossom. I'm 21 years old and I was sleeved on July 2nd! My surgeon is Dr. Neil Floch and he is a God send. Very kind, funny and caring man and I am so grateful that he did my surgery. He made me feel so safe before getting the procedure, if someone else was doing it I probably would have backed out. Hm, I'm not sure what else to write so I'll just say whatever comes to mind. Being only 4 days out, I am doing surprisingly well. I figured I would have more pain and be this miserable bedridden person, but I’m the exact opposite. I did have very strong pains due to the air they pumped me up with, it was beyond uncomfortable, but that feeling…

Hi, If you're reading this, you're probably considering sleeve surgery. I will share a shorten version of "my long story." I am 51 yrs old. and have not been obese all my life. Three years ago i quit smoking (30 yr bad habit) and my small 5'2" frame went from 120 lbs. to 195 lbs. I know, it was bad. But that's not the worse part - apparently the rapid weight gain had decided to reek havoc on my liver. Having some routine blood work done was showing my liver enzymes beginning to sky rocket. I was trying weight watchers, Atkins, starving myself, etc. and like everyone else, I would gain everything back again. I used to be semi-active but with the added pounds on my…

Hey guys! I am new to this forum. First let me say that it is so inspiring to see how supportive y'all are with each other. I am so excited to get this surgery and feel some support from other people going through the same thing. I'm 23. I got the lap band 3 years ago. At this point the sleeve hadnt been approved yet. And before surgery I was 250. After surgery I really got on the bandwagon, but I just couldn't lose the weight. I struggled with trying to eat constantly. I threw up constantly. Even Protein that I was supposed to eat, I couldn't get down. It was depressing. It was enbarassing. I couldn't go out to eat without staying in the bathroom throwing up all my foo…

Hello, I am so glad that I have this resource to help me through my weight loss journey. I am 1 week post-op. To give you a little history, I have yo-yo dieted for 25 years. I finally had enough and decided to look into WLS. I went to a seminar at a local obesity center. It was just what I wanted, however my insurance does not cover bariatric surgery. So I found out I could still have the surgery I would just have to pay $19,000. Well I felt totally defeated there was no way. My sister suggested out of country. I thought that was crazy, but I started researching this idea and found out how common this is. The prices were unbelievable $4500.00 and up. After a week or so o…

So I ate my dinner, waited 30mins to drink my Water and now I have this horrible pain in the center of my chest that goes down to my sternum along with on and off nausea... is this dumping from drinking too soon or something else? I've never had to wait more than 30mins before. Really doesn't feel good, almost like terrible gas pain but in my chest - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary: 6/11/12

Hi Everyone, I figured since I have officially started my two-week pre-op diet I should stop lurking and start posting! I will be having my lapband surgery through the Surgical Weight Loss Center at their Vancouver Clinic on July 18th. I have already found this site to be a great place to search for information and share experiences. Wishing everyone all the best on their journeys!

M 17 days post op! From previous posts I stated I was at a standstill and a little discouraged, I haven't got on the scale but once in 4 days but man it's been hard! Still no lbs down but I'm bring patient! You know I see a lot of patients have suffered from nausea and I haven't got sick one time! It seems most do - Im not complaining I just wondered what was different - why they did ? Not eating right? Too much?? Not enough? Then... I don't want to stretch my stomach out! I am only eating 400-540 calories a day and 50 oz of water - could you? I don't want too!

Today was my first appointment at the Weight Loss Center. I was completely prepared to discuss everything involved with LapBand surgery, which I did. However, the Dr. suggested that I have a Sleeve Gastrectomy instead. I am seriously considering it, because one of my main goals is that I will be allowed to get pregnant after loosing the weight. He said that a sleeve will still allow the baby to get the nutrition that it needs during pregnancy. Plus, I won't have to go in for fills and adjustments, and I will lose the weight a lot faster. Therefore, I will actually be able to try getting pregnant sooner than if I have the LapBand. The post-surgery diet is exactly th…

Was sleeved yesterday. I was in severe in yesterday, bu I'm now feeling better, just a lot of soreness. Who else got sleeved on July 2nd?

  18. Started by deb_fox,

In 3 days it will be a month for me since I am sleeved. I feel so tired still. Is this normal? I do work full time, so I can't take naps. My friends tell me that they think it's because I eat so little. I am averaging between 50-60 grams of protein per day. My meals are very, very small still. After a few bites of anything, I am totally full and need to stop or I get pains. I am walking every night after dinner.

Howdy! So - surgery was MOnday, had to be at the hospital at 8:30 and surgery was to be a 12:00. Hubby and I went to my room and I got into my gown and footies. I still had a cough left over from my pneumonia, so I had to have another chest x-ray and a breathing treatment. 12:00 comes and goes and I don't get taken to the pre-op room until 1:30. Now keep in mind, I am totally freaking out now. Since my original surgery date (june 5th) didn't work out because of me getting sick, I started thinking maybe it was a sign that I shouldn't do it. Then I read an update on here of someone living their moment of regret at day 6! What was I doing!!!!! Couldn't I just lose …

Hi, I'm am about 3 months out and very nervous!!! I am 31, I'm from Long Island, NY, and I'm an EMT. I decided to have surgery for a few different reasons. First, I have struggled with my weight my entire life and I just can't do it anymore. I'm tired of my weight being the first thing people notice about me. It doesn't matter how nice I am, how good I am at my job, or how I carry myself. It's always there front and center. It's lucky for me though that I have always been a tough chick and I tend to let what others say or think about me roll off my back. However, I am my own worst critic. My second reason is because my uncle just passed from cancer. He was only …

Well, I made it to my one year surgiversary! I went from a size 16/18 to a 6/8. To be perfectly honest, I prefer the way I am now to the way I was before! Shocker right? I will turn 50 on the 17th, but feel younger than when I turned 40, I am not in pain like I used to be. My feet and legs don't hurt all the time. I can bend over to tie my shoes or pet the dogs without losing my breath and don't have to shimmy out of the car. I flew to Chicago a couple of weeks ago and had so much room in the seat, I felt like I was in first class! I had a reunion with friends from my teenage years and wasn't ashamed of myself for the first time in decades! This year has flown by and wa…

I've always had good blood pressure (around 110/60) and pulse rate (60pbm). In hospital my obs were 90/50 for blood pressure and 45 for pulse. I was hooked up to the IV for fluids and pain relief. The nurses didn't seem peturbed by this and I never asked my surgeon about it - assuming he read my charts when he visited. Now that I'm out of hospital I felt dizzy again this morning and had a bit of a headache. At the chemist I asked the assistant to take my blood pressure, thinking it might be high - 110/60 - great…

I'll be doing self pay so I'm a little nervous about how much pressure will be put on me to schedule too soon. Also, worried it might go the other way and I won't be as desirable a patient as someone with insurance. My goal is too lose 100 lbs. Hope to meet a lot of new people on the forum and learn as much as possible.
