Did anyone have any previous back issues (sciatica) prior to surgery? And immediately after surgery, did it act up? I'm wondering if it will be a problem for me as I get sciatica pain off and on. I know later when I lose the weight after surgery it should improve, but how do you deal with it since no NSAIDS and for how long did it hurt? Thank you!

I have lost 108 pounds since my surgery in June. I am thrilled and thankful. For the last few weeks I find myself eating a lot when I get home from work - through the night. I eat a good dinner - but later I start to crave and munch on things like rice cakes and popcorn. I sometimes eat a Protein Bar because it's good and a bit crunchy (20 grams of protein). Bottom line - I want FREEDOM from my food addiction!!!!! Don't we all? Any suggestions would be great. I still have 90 pounds to go and certainly don't want to hurt myself with food. This is when we learn super healthy habits - so I need your help to re-establish control, discipline and a bit of sanity …

I was sleeved 2 weeks ago to the day. I'm back at the office for the first time today, and I feel great! My first time back in work shoes... I walked 3 blocks downtown, and I've been thinking all over the office since 6am...my feet don't hurt AT ALL! AAAAAAAAAHH! Even if I never lose another ounce (which I know I will), my surgery was worth it if JUST for this. It feels so good to get my life back. Just thinking of all the things that used to being me joy, and how I'll be able to get to do them more has me bursting with joy. I suffered with Lupus and RA (steroids...) and to get even a portion of the weight off made a hell of a difference. Yay! Sleeves! LOL!

Hi have been following this forum for awhile now and finally have my date Nov 19th so thought I'd drop a line. I'm 25yo girl been struggling mentally with my weight since I was 13 when y nana told me I had muffin tops in my bathing suit ( I was only 46kg) she was a big women who had in one slight comment passed on an obsession with weight with one tiny comment! Amazing and unsettling how easily people can influence you! I started gaining weight when I was 18 and had various eating disorders/depression over the years until I had my beautiful children who through pregnancy I would not do anything silly to my body. After I've had both kids I gave up was tired of fighting a…

Hi everyone my name is Tessa I am 26, a mom to 2 handsome little boys and a Army wife currently stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany! I started my lapband journey 9 months ago on January 31, 2012. I am down 90 pounds and only 8 pounds away from my goal weight, 5 pant sizes, 1 shoe size, 4 bra sizes, and 3 ring sizes and couldn't be happier! It hasn't been easy by any means, I exercise everyday and recently have disovered that I love to run, I ran my first 5k October 13th to support breast cancer. I think my biggest challenges have been figuring out what foods I can now tolerate, and discovered bread is definentely a no go! With being a part of this awesome group I hope t…

Well I'm 12 day post op today. I've lost 21lbs since surgery, and a total to 53lbs since 10/14/12, and I'm happy as can be. My cloths are getting baggy and loose a good thing I think! But one staunch realization I had today was that my butt fits my riding mower better today than it did all summer.

For the last 15 years I have battled my overweight. While I was younger I could take the weight without too many direct health issues from it. However, after the last major diet (HCG) I lost around 80 lbs and felt great. I got back into a regular workout and running scheme and was sure that I would never go back on the weight. However, after a year during summer vaction I slipped and let it go with the result that I did not only add back the 80lbs but added another 50 on top resulting in a total weight of around 360lbs. Now the misery started. I found myself with a lot of resulting health problems such as high blood pressure, swollen feet, ankle pain, sleep apnoe, etc. T…

I had my sleeve on 10/29. I have had three other sugeries prior to the sleeve two of them being a csection and gallbladder so I figured the pain would be similar. During my surgery the doctor had found a hernia and repaired it. I was out of surgery and in my room by 2:00pm. I was in quite of bit of pain but that is to be expected. The next day they came and took me to my barium swallow and were unsucessfull at getting a result. I was told that I could go ahead and have ice chips try and suck on and was even released from the hospital that next afternoon. Needless to say I was readmitted back to the hospital later that evening due to not being able to keep anything down. I…

I'm 1 week away from surgery, scared but excited. I'm doing OK on the liquid diet but looking for others out there that are trying to eat healthy. I don't use artificial sweetners and try to eat organic as much as possible so it's a little challenging. I would love any input from like minded sleevers out there to help me in my journey.

So I'm supposed to start purée tomarrow. Tonight I went ahead and had a SF pudding and added about 15 grams worth of protien powder to it. It went down fine, felt a little rumbly in my tumbly but fine. I can't put my finger on it , but the feeling was not what I had hoped for. Not hungry, not full. And now it's gone, will I ever feel satisfied again? I keep reading how you all get full after a few bites. Really? Does the solid food make that much of a differance , stay longer in your sleeve?

I've looked for it for as far back as I can remember, really, even though everything I do seems to say I don't really want it found. And in the end, when it found me, it did exactly what I thought I wanted - it changed everything. That thing, that one thing, has catapulted me from the comfort I know into a new place I thought wanted to go. I know it's a good thing, but all I can think is, "What have I done?" I am sick now. That kind of sick that makes the doctor say, "If you don't lose some weight now, you are going to die - and I don't mean in a year or two - I mean very soon." Kidneys working at 25 percent. Liver working at about the same. I haven't been in …

My sister linked me to this guy, and while I dont agree with everything he says, some things really stuck with me, for example his admission that "I might seem mild-mannered, measured and disciplined from the outside but not too far below the surface lives an eating machine that’s capable of caloric suicide and dietary behaviours which belie my alleged intelligence and knowledge"... Yup, Caloric suicide is definately familiar... food I don’t need. I will not reward myself with food. I will not medicate with food. I will not allow situations, circumstances or other people to influence or dictate the way I eat. [this I have lots of issues with!] I will not rationa…

Hi, I had my RNY 3 years ago this past September 9th. I done a great job and lost 210 pounds in 2 years. I was dedicated to exercise and eating right. November 2011, I got hurt at work and was unable to do my 2-3 mile walks or aerobics of any kind. I had to be out of work so they fired me. We had to move in with my in-laws because of the decrease in income. This has been very hard. My routine has been crushed. What has brought me here is that I need some support to help me before I regain all the weight I lost. Before my injury I weighed 148, I was content with that weight. This morning I weighed 164. It doesn't seem like a lot if weight but I can really tell the differen…
