Found these at H-E-B. They look good and nice and smooth for the liquid phase. No added sugar and the spinach one has 5g of protein in a cup.

I was sleeved on Thursday 12/21 and got home yesterday afternoon. Emotionally I am struggling with it being Christmas Eve and tomorrow Christmas but I’ve stayed off social media and my family is supportive so that helps. My biggest struggle right now is fluids, including protein shakes. I can’t really tell when I’m full because I’m still so sore from surgery: so I often don’t know when I’ve had too much until I’m nauseous. Thankfully, I have not thrown up yet. It took me over an hour to drink an 11oz protein shake this morning. Is that typical because my stomach is still healing and can’t hold as much? It honestly feels like work to get the 64oz of fluid in and I’m doing …

I’m 20 days post-op and the only things I can tolerate are popsicles, chicken broth, cream of wheat, and vegetarian refried beans. I’ve tried other suggestions on my approved list but they cause a lot of pain when I eat and I feel miserable. Anybody have any suggestions or tips for me? Anything would be greatly appreciated!! Hi all, I am trying to stock up on a few drink choices to have in the house to try right after surgery besides or in addition to water. I am getting sugar free ice pops and high protein both and was looking for some kind of what enhancer, but what? What else should I try? Also planning on trying warm tea. I am only buying a small amount of each so I can find something I like and then buy more. I am also going to try this: Bariatric Choice Low-Carb Liquid Protein Fruit Drink Concentrate - Green Tea & Cranberry Drink Mix To Enhance Water. What else? Thanks!

Does anyone else here have issues with what I call chewing on your tongue? I used to rely on gum to keep my mouth busy, but I'm now 6 days post-VSG and with all this stress, I'm chewing on my tongue all the time! Besides sucking on ice or popsicles, any other suggestions? I’m 27 days post-op from my sleeve and I’m currently on soft foods. I was just wonder if anyone has advice on what the average calorie intake is the first month or two. Right now I’m eating about 250-300 calories a day. I go to the gym every other day and I’m on light cardio (cycling, elliptical, treadmill) for the next few weeks and I burn about 200 calories there. Should I be eating more or less calories a day? I feel fine and I’m down 34 pounds since October 3rd. Just wondering what everyone else is doing

Hey guys, just joined and Friday I will be 2 wks post op. 2 things; 1-theguidelines I was given just said soft foods like eggs and soft pasta. I am at a loss for other good foods that are soft. No meat for another month on his program. 2- I lost 8-10lbs the first 4-5 days and have been flat for the past 10. I read something about the 3 week plateau. But a 1 week. I am starting to walk but I have had some extra abb pain beneath one of the incision sites, so I am limited to 15-20 min slow walk on the treadmill. Any advice would be amazing! TIA

Hi all, I just started the full liquids phase of my post-op diet, which includes days 6-14. I’m doing relatively well with everything in terms of getting my water and protein in, but switching to this full liquid phase has been difficult. I was really looking forward to tomato soup, but my nutritionist says to mix it with skim milk or soy milk, and the smell of those mixed together makes me want to vomit. I got down some earlier, but I can’t even stand to smell it now. I also tried cream of mushroom and it made me want to vomit as well. I’m so bummed because I was really looking forward to having something other than sweet protein shakes to drink. My full liquid diet incl…

Bread is the bane of my existence. Bittersweet. I have always considered a slice of toast, chunk of fresh baguette, a bagel with cream cheese, etc, to be a perfectly acceptable meal. But it is not and since I started my WLS journey bread has not even been in my house. That doesn't mean I haven't craved it, hunted the internet for a reasonable substitute or sifted through hundreds of "bread" recipes on Pinterest. Then I came across a post on another forum where a member was RAVING about a recipe for "cloud bread." She said it was awesome, amazing and we should all give it a try. And I did. And it was amazing. I had chicken salad on a couple of "slices" and it felt l…

Sleeved October 17th 2017 Age: 19 SW: 297 CW: 252 Popcorn is my all time favorite food! Plain popcorn with no butter and little to no salt. So yummy! I know after surgery there’s just foods you need to stay away from and I feel like popcorn is one of them. Will I ever be able to eat popcorn again?!?!

I’m 10 days post op from gastric bypass. I feel like things are probably going to well. Maybe my struggles will just come later ? anyway I was a avid coffee drinker before surgery. My go to drink a 12oz iced sf white chocolate mocha with almond milk. And I am dying for one. I see so many people who drink coffee straight away so just looking for opinions. Though I know a lot of people are more make it at home and a splash of creamer. I can do that kind of coffee just really craving the coffee stand. I haven’t had almond milk since surgery. But I go back to work next week and I wanted to try it before then to see how my body does with it. Is that a good idea or should I ste…

I was craving meat, but I'm still in my puree phase. My wife got Chipotle for dinner tonight, so I made a Chipotle puree with some success! 1 side of Chipotle grilled chicken. 1 side of Chipotle Queso. Blend together into puree. It basically tastes like a really good dip. Makes 5 servings. 82cal, 9g Protein, 1.8g carbs, 4.6g fat per serving.

So, yeah I'm nearly 2 weeks out currently. And am going to Disney World on the 17th. By that time I'll be slightly over 2 weeks and should be moved onto a soft food diet if everything is going well and healed up properly. I just wanted to know if anyone has any advice for rides, getting around the parks, and food that would be okay to eat while there. I'm going to be there for five days and will have protein shakes on hand just in case there's an issue with getting my protein in. Any advice and words of wisdom would be appreciated as this is my first time going and I just had the surgery on the 30th of November. Thanks so much for the help!

I tried to contact my surgeons office but they haven’t gotten back to me yet. I’ve had no previous health problems before my surgery other than depression and anxiety that I’m taking Remeron for. Specifically asking about Lasix, tmi but ladies you know when you’re bloating before that time of the month for me I retain ALOT of water up to 7-8 pounds difference in my weight no matter how hard I watch my sodium intake. My first day on soft solids was not so good. I've been waiting all day to eat do real food because I've been at the hospital making sure I didnt have a blood clot. I had beef and broccoli that I made sure it was easy to chew to applesauce consistency. I notice I was full because it kept feeling like it was getting stuck in my chest. During the 30 minutes I was waiting before drinking it kept feeling like something was stuck in my chest or throat and it was hurting. Once time was up I tried to drink something thinking it will go away or the food will go down and no it came the other way. So just say my first day of soft food was a failure. Any help to get through this ph…

Hello all! Looking for some advice of those who are quite far into their post op diet.... I am moving on to purée stage on Friday and am quite comfortable with what I will eat for those two weeks. When I start stage 3 and resume a “normal” diet, I have read that those with a band should avoid smoothies, soup etc as it will slip through the band and not provide the fullness that drier textured foods would. I am not a huge fan of breakfast so was planning to have a smoothie made with some whey protein powder, fruit, yoghurt and I also like home made soup for lunch! I understand the importance of staying away from high calorie, high fat “slippy” foods …

Hello! I’m new to BariatricPal! I’m 19 years old and I’m one week post-op from my gastric sleeve. So far I’m having a good recovery, I finally have minimal to no discomfort or pain now and I’m finally able to meet my protein and water goals. However...... I have terrible breath!!! I brush my teeth 3 times a day and my tongue 4-5 times but no matter what about an hour later my breath is stinky again. I was told I cannot chew gum (not even sugar free) and I tried those listerine breath strips and they just made my breath a different kind of funk. My sister is a PA and my other sister is a Nurse and they said it’s ketotic breath from the diets and lack of carbs. I’m on prote…

I don't like it, but I like it better than greek yogurt (BTW, I like Dannon regular or lite yogurt). Both are basically pretty gross to me. Phase 3. No veggies or fruit yet. What can I do with this cottage cheese since I seem to tolerate it. Anything to make it more bearable?

Hi everyone! This is our first thread for daily menus. I borrowed this concept from another support board and it's a very popular thread. I am hoping it may help us with accountability and also help other to help us when we may get stuck or have food issues to work through. To begin we will just do a weekly thread and anyone can join regardless of their surgery status or type of surgery. Just follow your own plan as given to you by your doc according to where you are in your journey. To participate, just hit reply and type in the day's menu. You may want to take part in the discussion that goes along with it. Here's an interesting article in the Bariatric Times about…

Hello everyone, I am 3 weeks post off and am feeling pretty good. The one problem I am having is a very bad taste in my mouth coupled with nausea. So eating has been very hard. Even looking at the pureed food list makes me want to gag. I kind of have been doing my own thing - per say - eating slow, chewing very well etc. But using my own foods. So far nothing has bothered me at all. I guess my question is - I am not ruining anything inside am I? I don't have any pain.

Hello everyone I had a quick question: I am on my last week of pureed foods. My doctor had me do 1 week post op Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes, 1 month of puree and 1 month of soft. The puree has be VERY difficult for me in terms of nausea. What I have been doing is eating what is soft enough that I can chew slowly. I am not eating junk - I promise. Nothing has bothered me so far. Do you think this is OK? I guess it's too late now - but I wanted some reassurance!

I had a BMI if 36 prior to surgery weighted 188.9. Lost 9 lbs prior to surgery and 10 in the first 2 weeks. By the end of week 3 no change. I am definitely eating less. Off sugar & haven’t eaten any fruit. I had and have challenges slowing down and concentrating on when to stop. So I have thrown up a few times but I’m learning what I can and cannot tolerate, day by day. I just don’t understand how I haven’t lost weight in a week when I am eating to little, Protein, soft vegetable diced salads. Anyone have any insight they can share?

I got the gastric sleeve done and I’ve been on liquids for 5 weeks (two weeks pre-op. 3 weeks post-op) then I’m gonna be on one week of puréed, one week of soft then back to “regular” food. I’ve seen some people say they’re back to normal food in like a week I saw one person say 3 days! Just out of curiosity. What was your diet like post-op diet like?

Could someone give me an idea of the recommended calorie, fat, protein count I should be getting. Everyone seems to have gotten that information from a Dr. (in a book or pamphlet) I didn't, not from nutritionist either and she is no longer available. I started at 235 on August 1(I am 8 wks out today). I have been able to tolerate everything I've tried-no major bread or sugars or fried foods except maybe a tiny pinch. I've never felt that "full" feeling yet. I would love to have some basics from others about the same stage. I'm getting between 800-950 cals, at least 60 Protein, and 64 ozs. water. I hit a 3 week stall at week 4 and stayed at a 25lb loss, it finally broke an…

I’m one month post-op on my sleeve. My dietitian and nutritionist said that after weight loss surgery everything in your body changes in all ways, shapes and forms! I’ve notice with me that I can’t have dairy anymore (can hold it down but I feel crappy after), my body has a weird reaction to coffee, and weirdest thing that I found out was common is when I eat too fast or too much my nose starts running. So just curious, What are some weird body habits you have now post-op?

I’m one month post op! The last week or two I haven’t been getting much protein down due to not being able to hold diary or creamy based protein drink and it’s kicking me in the butt now so I’m back on track and focused for success! I’ve tried the isopure protein juices, no good yuck. I couldn’t stomach it. I know I don’t NEED to like it but I wanna atleast drink something that doesn’t make me dry heave lol. I bought the Isopure unflavored protein! I’ve added it to my fruit and veggie smoothies so far, I’ve heard people just mix it in with their water or water + crystal light. What are some of your favorite things to put it in to meet your protein requirements?

Hi there! I'm bullish on resource lists! (Yeah, that's me--Imafreak.) So can we play a new game today? Let's list all the convenience foods that can make cooking easier for us--easier to get a semi-homemade meal on the table. Here's the criteria--the food must have less than 4g of sugar MAX per serving. It must be low carb. It must be low calorie. Try not to repeat the posts before yours. Ok, go!

Are 310 Nutrition Protein shakes a good choice for protein after having the sleeve surgery. They have 15 grams of protein. Should I stay with the whey isolate? No health reason or preference for this. I always get my protein amount daily (preferably by food) but I like to add the shakes just in case but not overdue it. I use 1 shake per 24oz. mix, 1 c. almond milk, and or water. I can do either, just found a good deal on 310 and after I ordered, I realized these weren't the isolate.

I’m currently on my puréed stage of my post-op diet. I’m enjoying hummus and mushed avocado along with unsweetened apple sauce. I was told to give baby food a try for more nutrients and flavors. So far I’ve bought (have not tried yet) apple and oats baby rice (apple sauce consistency) and those squeeze bags of fruits and vegetables mix. Not really looking for anything savory but something yummy. What are some good recommendations?

Hello! I got my gastric sleeve done on October 17th. I’ve been on full liquids for 4.5 weeks (2 pre-op, 3 post-op). Because I’ve been on this liquid diet for so long since my surgery I cannot stomach the yogurt or jello that I’m allowed to eat so I’ve mainly been on protein, water and soup. I’m supposed to start my puréed diet on Monday but I’ve been able to hold down puréed foods now for the last 2-3 days. Last week I started blending up my soups and I was able to keep that down with no discomfort, nausea or severe dumping. Yesterday I mashed up some avocado with lime and alittle salt and ate about two tablespoons (took me 30-45ish minutes but it got me full). Today I’…

I had so much fun reading all the responses in the first thread and hope you guys will hop in again on this one. The goal of this game is to build your day of protein so that you limit or eliminate as many protein drinks/bars/supplements as possible and obtain most of your protein from real food. Use the serving size guides and protein goals so they correlate to where you are presently. For example: I'm gonna pretend that I'm post WLS by 3 weeks. At 3 weeks I'm at the soft solids. My daily protein goal is 74g for my height. My portion size is 2oz Protein/meal; 1oz Protein/snack. I'm to have 3 meals and 1-2 snacks daily. (Because I'm so close to surgery, I'm sure I wi…

Im almost 2 weeks post-op from my gastric sleeve so I’m still on my full liquid diet. I can have high protein soups or cream soups with skim milk (like cream of chicken + one “can” of skim milk). I can still have broth and I’ve been drinking the Campbells Chucky/Hearty soups (healthy heart version with low fat, low sodium, low calories) mainly broth then I’ve been blending some of the cooked vegetables and I had no problem keeping it down and digesting it. Today I took a can and only added half of the cooked vegetables and blended it really smooth and added a scoop of Isopure unflavored protein. It’s blended up very well with no chunks at all (just has a tomato soup consi…

Hello! I’m new to BariatricPal I just joined today. I’m 19 years old and I just got a gastric sleeve on October 17th. I’m currently post-op day 5. The first few days were really rough all I was eating was ice chips. My dietitian said in the beginning I’ll only be able to get down 1 or 2 Premier Protein shakes but so far I’ve only been able to get down half a shake and a half or 3/4 bottle of water. I have minimal pain but only on my right side and my stomach is pretty numb to touch by my belly button. I’m feeling good other than being tired and drained because I’m not getting enough nutrients. I’m also taking two multi vitamins a day along with gas and pain pills if need…

Hello! I’m new to BariatricPal! I’m 19 years old and I’m one week post-op from my gastric sleeve. I’m on my full liquids for another 2 weeks then I can start my puréed diet! I’m actually really excited for it cause I can eat real food with flavor. Some people suggest baby food (not the meat but like sweet potato’s, carrots or peas) As weird as it sounds I’m so excited to eat Hummus and mashed potatoes! My dietitian said anything can be puréed if you try hard enough but make good choices. What’s your favorite thing to eat on your puréed diet?

Hi everyone! I started soft foods last week and I'm worried I've screwed it up! I haven't been necessarily pureeing all my food, rather I've been chewing it (turkey meatballs, deli meat, cheese, eggs) until it's a really soft consistency. I haven't thrown up but two days ago I did have horrible stomach pains. I have my follow up tomorrow with my surgeon but won't see my dietician for a few more days. Anyway, I'm wondering if everything really does have to be pureed to a silky consistency? I can't imagine pureeing meat, I guess it was so weird for me I thought chewing a lot would be enough. What are you guys doing? [emoji52] Angie

Do any of you have ideas to fight off sugar cravings? I used to never crave sugar until a couple of years ago and then it was mainly fruity candy and such, now after surgery, I seem to crave chocolate all the time. I do give in to these cravings with my Fiber One cookies that I make (melted chocolate chips with peanut butter, a scoop of protein powder and a sleeve of Fiber One) instead of straight up chocolate bars and stuff, but even with these cookies, I feel like I'm losing a little control with them. I haven't gained any weight, but I also haven't lost any since the cravings got worse. I'd love to not have to give up chocolate, but that probably makes the most sense.

I'm skeptical about the "As Seen on TV" products but I decided to try this. It really is a simple to cook with and clean as the commercial. I made a fabulous omelet for my first try, and in about 4 mins I had a great meal. It cooks quick so watch it and don't overload it, as it will build up some pressure if you're not careful. It's almost too much at a time for a sleever, but it sure is easy to use.

Not that anyone cares lol, but i've been driving myself crazy trying to find a cookies and cream protein shake that actually taste like a chick fil a oreo milkshake. (Because that was my fat kid all time favorite guilty pleasure lol) I've tasted just about every disgusting cookies and cream shake and i've been disappointed until now. Surprising it wasn't anything fancy or expensive. The GNC pro 100% whey protein powder mixed with fair life fat free milk gives me life. Like i'm literally in fat kid heaven. It works out to about 37g protein per serving.
