Has anyone here ever hear of Scentsy? I am trying to raise $$ for my vsg this summer. So I sell Scentsy and all of my commissions are going straight to my surgery fund. My house smells so good all the time now!! And I don't have to worry about my kids getting burned cause the wax in the warmers won't ever get hot enough to burn them. So, I've felt mostly pretty OK in the last couple of months since being sleeved, but I had noticed slightly more intense premenstrual symptoms. But, recently, I feel like my hormones are really out of control. I feel very emotional and irritable, and yesterday I snapped at my boss! Seriously, if this keeps up I'll be out of a job! Yipes! Anyone have any suggestions for getting the hormone monsters under control? Any suggestions would be appreciated....

I am 5 weeks out from my surgery. Had a complete hysterectomy 7 years ago. I am noticing a "small" amount of blood when I wipe. Not sure exactly where it is coming from. I no longer have periods because of the hysterectomy. Any thoughts on what is going on? I am talking just a slight coloration on the toilet tissue. Not every time, but maybe once every other day. This has been going on for about a week.???? ps. I see my Dr on Monday afternoon.

Has anyone heard of using Implanon (birth control implant) after WLS? Or does anyone have Implanon? It's a small, plastic matchstick-size rod that a doctor implants into the arm, AND it's good for three years! I know birth control pills are out of the question as it isn't properly absorbed after surgery (until 1-2yrs post-op, I hear), and IUDs like Mirena are off limits for those of us who haven't had kids, so I want to know if this is a viable option. Does it have the same issue with absorption as BCPs? I am six weeks post-sleeve, and have lost 36 pounds. I had my mammogram yesterday, and (surpisingly) it hurt less than usual. Same facility - same equipment as before. I mentioned it to the tech - who I had filled in on my surgery (like she wouldn't have noticed the five healing incisions on my abdomen). She explained that with less fat in my breasts from the rapid weight loss, the breasts were easier to compress than before - thus the lower level of discomfort (they never say PAIN). So I guess that is a positive for my less full breasts. I have lost 3 1/2 inches through the bust already. I hope I still fill a B cup when I hit goal. Anyway - thought I would pass on…

Has anyone who has been banded a bit know if your bra has caused your port area to hurt??? Mine has been hurting mildly for two days and it seems to jump all around my port area (not in one particular spot). I have tried repositioning the way I am sitting, where I am sitting and so on. I finally took off my bra and now I notice there is not a single pain! It could be a coincidence and I am still going to bring it up to the doc, but anybody have this happen?????

So I am down 30 lbs and have some clothes that are too big, as well as lots of winter clothes in my old size. I know I will be much thinner by next winter. However, my head keeps saying... what if that weight comes back, or the band won't work. (I know it will.) So I am here to ask you to tell me to do the right thing. BUT I do like my glass of wine a couple times a week and my monthly girls night out when we drink cosmos! Can anybody give me any feed back on drinking? This is my first bathing suit season (ok, yes, it's January, but the stores are starting to bring out the bathing suits, even though it's snowing) since losing a large amount of weight. I'm used to wearing a two piece, but a very concealing two piece. normally it's a tankini top that covers EVERYTHING and long boyshort bottoms. I tried on a two piece two weeks ago that was not as covering. I'm not used to seeing peeks of my middrift of my thighs all out on display. I don't know what to do. I'm tempted to just continue wearing the same bathing suit (even though it's baggy) because it covers me. Thoughts?

Hello ladies, So, I had my blood results back and they indicated that I am early stages of meopause or perimenopause cos my monthlies ain't quite stopped, although they are all over the place. I went to see a specialist and she has given me HRT, mainly due to my age - going through this a lil early at nearly 40! She recommended this as low levels of estrogen can have long term problems for young 'uns?!! To be honest, this is not what I wanted to hear... I have used Nuvaring for over a year now and I've never had any problems with breakthrough bleeding. About a week or so after the surgery I started bleeding like a regular period with small clots which I NEVER have. It's been over a week and I am really freaking out. Is this normal? I'm going to the GYN tomorrow just to make sure everything is ok.

I know I've read somewhere on here about hormones being stored in fat and that's why we're getting hormonal when we start losing a lot etc. Can someone re-explain it to me in more detail? For the first time in, um forever, I'm looking forward to this summer and swimsuit season. I got a Land's End catalog in the mail last week and they have SO many swimsuits. Of course it is way too early to buy one, hoping to lose a good chunk of change by May/June, but it is fun dreaming. And thinking of taking my kids to a waterpark or pool or something and not feeling like I want to hide from the entire world. I can't wait to get rid of all my swimdresses and replace them with new, cute, stylish swimwear. . Anyone else?

Hi ladies just passing on a discovery I had this morning. All of the Kmart's in the Phoenix area are closing down (as they are everywhere else I assume). In it's place the one down the street from me was turned into a Sears Outlet store. Most clothing is $8 and less. I didn't find anything great in the clothing, but I did get two shapers there for $5 each. They are both Dr. Rey brand, you know... the cutie doc from Dr. 90210. I've bought one of his in the past and paid $55 for it and loved it and I hate that it's too big now. So these were a great deal for me and they look perfect. Sorry I really hope no men are reading this hehehe! But i was banded 6 weeks ago, and my period is normally heavy and clotted and it is now light and barely there. Has any one else experienced this? Most of the topics note that the period is heavier , not lighter!

I have almost waist length hair, so hair toys are a bit of a hobby for me. I have found 2 recently that are wonderful!!!!!! First is my new brush - the tangle teezer ($10 @ Sally's). I love, love, love this thing. It's a palm held brush, which takes a little getting used to, but I loose about 1/4 of the hairs I do with combing or other brushes. Highly recommend! Before my surgery, I had gone about 5 months with no period. The month of my surgery, I got it (in January), and then in February I got it, and it's STILL here. I've been on my period for almost 3 weeks now!!! And it's not a light one either, it's heavy and i'm having a lot of pain with it. It's slightly ridiculous. Just wondering if anyone else has been here. I was so used to not having a period, and then BAM!, a three week long period?! Do I need to tell my doctor, or what? I'm 19, by the way... if that helps at all.

I am scheduled to have surgery on April 11th and I don't see my doctor again until March 29th. My husband has a question/concern that he says just won't wait until then. How long after the surgery until we will be able to have sex again? We are newlyweds (7 months)...

I apologize if this has been asked before. I have always been very large chested even when I was thin. I cannot buy a bra in a regular store. I have to order them online and they aren't cheap. I am making due with the ones I have now because I know I will start losing weight and have to change sizes. I don't know how much of them I am going to lose but I believe it will be a LONG time before I possibly get to a size I can buy in a regular store. Okay okay...I just realized tonight as I was taking my birth control pill that my surgery date (June 1st) falls on the 3rd-ish day of my period. Since I am on birth control my period is only about 3-4 days and it is never heavy. I am just wondering if it is alright to undergo surgery while menstruating? I really don't want to postpone the surgery. Was anyone else on their period during your surgery? I'm not TOO worried about it, but I just would like to know if anyone went through it. I'm on the NuvaRing, and I was wondering if weight loss can effect the potency (potency? I can't think of a better adjective, lol) of birth control. Like can it make it less effective? I am no spring chicken, but I have noticed that losing about 35 pounds from my original weight has made me feel much more feminine. Has anyone else notice this? I was banded on October 15th and after a couple of fills at the beginning of January I finally started to see regular weight loss. I know I shouldn't have jumped on the scale on monday or morning, or tuesday or today, after starting my period on Sunday, but I did., and I am up 6lbs. I never used to weigh myself on a regular basis since it always remand the same. So, I am not sure what is normal. But 6lbs seems like a lot from my weigh in on Friday morning. Thanks Tania

So, I've been very happily not super hungry since I've been sleeved (2 months now!), and I love how easy it makes it for me to make the right choices. My first two periods were OK, if you don't count the intense cramping, grrrrr... But, then BAM! This time, I have felt HUNGRY for days. And it's not just head hunger. My stomach is growling and every time I want to eat something, and I check to see if I am "legit" hunger or experiencing head hunger, I find that I feel hungry, and my belly is screaming, "Feed ME, Seymour!" ( quote from "Little Shop of Horrors" :-)) . WHY???!!!! Does anyone else have this?

I am 2 weeks post op today and feeling better each day. Then it hit, I started my period and I feel terrible. I have cramps worse then I had back in my teens and very heavy bleeding with lots of clots. I am wondering if this is due to the stress my body has been under due to surgery or maybe the blood clotting shot I received in the hospital. I have been using Depo-provera for the last 13 years and haven't had a period in this time. I have had some spotting off/on over the years with medication change etc. I had sleeve surgery 11 days ago and today I woke up with spotting. Could this be related to surgery, hormone release, anesthia? It's not painful or otherwise concerning, no fever that would indicate infection, aside from the fact that it is happening. I just had my yearly ob-gyn appointment, and was talking to my doctor about the band. My question is this, does it affect the pelvic/external exam? My pcp and the gyn have always sorta mashed around on my stomach and ab area. How long will I be sore after the port is in? Can they still mash around there after? Also I know that after a gbp they say no ng or scope of the stomach, is this also the case with banding? Will I need a medical id bracelet for this? I seriously don't wear makeup, or at least I haven't until recently. I am only wearing mascara and chapstick now, anyway. I'm totally clueless on what to wear, how much to wear, etc. I want to play up my smile and eyes, which I've been told are my two best feature, but have no idea how to go about it without looking like a lady of the evening.

So we lose a lot of weight, hopefully make goal, maybe even go beyond. We become average, fit, thin. We wouldn't stand out in a crowd for the largeness of our size, maybe even the opposite in our chubby American society. We get attention like we didn't before. Romantic attention. So, how do we accept the "feelings" of these people who are now attracted to us, when we (pretty much) know we would have been invisible to them before? How can we believe that they are attracted to us for who we are, when we know the dirty little secret ... that WHAT we are makes all the difference. How?

I am watching a recorded show of "The Talk." They are discussing the color of your clothing and what it says about you. They said that black means you are depressed, lazy, unimaginative, etc. Sharon Osborne, who was wearing black and always wears black on the show, took issue with it. I have been hearing some talk about hair thinning with the surgery, can someone please let me know what to expect in that regard. I know some of us, a lot of us women, have trouble with our body image and self esteem while not banded. When banded sometimes the changes are really noticeable from week to week, and a new type of body dysphoria may develop. I know that my being 365 pre-band, and now down to 302 three years out makes me go insane sometimes with the way my body has changed. Hi everyone - just wondering if anyone else experiences this? I think this is really the first time I've actually gained weight during my period. I generally always experience a loss before hand (which happened this time...over 3 lost pounds in the 3 days before), but I usually don't gain and this morning the scale said I was almost 2 pounds up from my lowest before my period 3 days ago. Im trying not to get stressed out but its a little upsetting...I've been doing my regular workout (cross training or 55 minutes on the elliptical and walking) and have been sticking to 950 calories or less. Any reassurance or advice is greatly appreciated!
