Any comments on this office, staff or doctors?

Hi...I have scheduled my "consult" even though, I know what will be said. However, he is 5 weeks out, and then at least another month for surgery (I am paying out of pocket). Does this seem like a long time? I thought that they would be quicker if your a cash patient. I already have all my labs and everything from a previous doc. Wow! Maybe I am just anxious, still seems like a long time. Could anyone give me their HONEST opinion on the team there? The secretary was very short, I just don't want to be let down. Thanks Brandy

hi, i had the lapband procedure placed 12 months ago and i now need to obtain medical insurance privately. Have any of you had difficulty qualifying for insurance after you listed this procedure? They ask you all of these pre existing conditions and you are suppose to last surgeries etc and am just wondering if this has been a problem for anyone? thanks, tina

Dr. Spiegel has become a RUDE POMPOUS BUTTHOLE! Before all the fame and hype of his surgeries he wasnt like he is now, but my last visit to him may be just that, my last. Trinity hospital of Moline Illinois had their first lapband seminar last Monday on Aug 13th. The first seminar was put on by their bariatric surgical team and the Inamed rep Sean Fitzpatrick. The seminar consisted of a power point slide show and a question/answer session afterwards. Being a lapbanded patient and a moderator on another lapband website I went to check it out. Being it was their first seminar, they did a fairly good job compared to other seminars I had been to in the past. I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOO PISSED!!!!. I went to Dr. Spiegel's office on July 7th for my consultation and to submitt my paperwork with United Healthcare. I chose to go to him because he has performed over 6000 surgeries, despite some of the rumors that I have heard about him and his office. After going to the seminar, I was impressed with him and felt good about my decision to go there. I went to a seminar on Saturday which took place at UT Medical Center (Knoxville, TN) and they have a new program for weight loss surgery. They compiled a team and that is how they work. They have three surgeons; Dr. Matthew Mancini, Dr. Gregory Mancini, and Dr. John D. Scott. All of which seemed like great guys and I would love to work with them. I am wondering if anyone here has heard or has had experience with them? It is a new program, but I know they worked at other places performing these surgeries. Let me know, thanks!

I think I might have a leak. I went to get a fill two days ago. Paid $300.00 for it. Dr. Dobson put in 3.5cc and I have absolutely no restriction. He took all of my fill out and I only had 2.5cc before the fill. I just had a fill in February with Dr. Maese and I was supposed to be at 5.5cc. So back to Dr. Maese I go today. Another $200.00 to spend. I'm going in so that he can check for a leak. Dr. Dobson said he couldn't check for one because I had already done a barium swallow. I am in Ottawa Canada and am interested in having this done. I know of a few doctors in Toronto, and believe there may be some in MOntreal? Any in northern NY?or Vermont? DOes anyone know of anyone that does fills and aftercare in Ottawa? I have been reading all kinds of threads and posts from all of you out there..I will be selfpay (my insurance won't even considerme) so I started reading about Doctors in Mexico and Canada for some reason the $$$ difference is very high and in my case, it is what's making me look more in to Mexico, I'm 6'4" and weigh 310 lbs i have to do this if I want to have any kind of quality life otherwise everyday for me is harder and harder to do even the simplest things...I can't go on like this. I just got back from Colorado yesterday. Dr. Kirshenbaum did my lap band on Wednesday August 1st. He is tops in my book. He is so compassionate. His price is so low because he wanted to be competitive with the price in Mexico. It is affordable and worth any of you searching for a doctor and a place to have the surgery done. The Crown Pointe Hospital in Parker CO. is like brand new. I would rate it a 10 on a scale of 1-10. The nurses and the care I recieved while I was there is not to be compared with ones I have even worked in as a nurse. The cost is $9950.00 for everything. Goodmorning all I just came back from Mexico at about 2 a.m. last night. I wanted to report to all of you how my band experience went since I relied on this website to inform and guide me through the process so here goes.... I have been looking on here for about 3 weeks, I have been thinking about this surgery for about 1-2 years. Hi guys I just received info from the local doctor I have been looking into. Dr Owens is local to me, which makes fills much easier and a doctor local for any problems. I cant afford his local rate of $17,000 but the info sent to me says he has a Dr. Lopez in MX who he teams with and you have surgery there and all fills in the local office (fills included for one year) for $9000. I am considerling Dr Ortiz, but with a local doctor to follow me I like the sound of this. Any stories of the good ol Dr Lopez??? Any suggestions or nifo would be great! Thanks

My sister and I are scheduled for surgery with Dr. Miguel Zapata on May 24 in Monterrey Mexico through Ready4Achange.com. I "lurk" on many bandster websites to take in as much info as I can. But the only person that I can find on any site that has had Dr. Zapata as a surgeon is kswan.
