Anyone had surgery with Dr. Wilkenfield?

To all of you out there who have had surgery with Dr. Kuri - do you know why he doesn't require a pre-op diet before surgery if your BMI is under 47? I understand that the purpose of the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver and make the surgery easier and safer. So, I'm not sure why he doesn't require it when most other doctors do. I haven't spoken with Dr. Kuri personally yet so any light you can shed on this for me would be appreciated.

I have been going to visit the psycologist now since December 8th. She schedules my appointments every two to three weeks. We talk about being accountable and getting consistancy in my life. We discuss exercise and eating right. It has been helpful, but I am really wanting to get on with the surgery. She will not tell me when she will pass me through. I have tried to see if I could request another psycologist and the office said no. I feel like I am being help hostage with this woman. I need some advice on how to move forward. Hello to everyone, i am new. I have been researching lap band for quite awhile now but the only thing holding me back is lack of someone to go with me to Mexico. I am terrified!! I have read a lot today on here both good and bad. My question is, this past weekend, I came across a lap band center in Tijuana that offers group trips. Basically for people who dont have anyone to go with, have any of you ever heard of this before? The surgeon they are using is Huacuz, i've read a lot of good things about him, but like I said, I am scared to go alone. Any advice would be highly welcomed. Thanks

I must first say that I am not a disgruntled or angry person; I just want the truth to be known about this Dr. I contacted Dr De La Garza. for the Lap band procedure because I was told that he was experienced and knowledgeable. My wife and I flew to Monterrey Mexico, she had reservations about me doing the procedure but I was determined to get it done. I paid $10,000.00 US for the procedure. After the procedure I learned dolor (pain) and aqua (water) that was all. While recovering in the hotel suite, I became extremely dizzy and could not eat; my abdomen was distended and swollen. Hi All, I need to vent and I couldn't think of a better place. I scheduled my band for March 30 as I am a teacher and we will be off the following week for the Easter/Passover Break. Plenty of time to recover without having to arrange covarage. Two weeks ago I called the office to check they had everything they need and all systems are go. The woman who is the liason between Dr and Insurance finally answered my third call and told me she was too busy and couldn't get to it then, but said she would call if there was a problem. Does anyone know of any doctors in the Portland Oregon area that will do aftercare if you'd had surgery in Mexico? I'm going next month to Mexico and would like to get it set up ahead of time in case something happens, like some of the posts I've been reading. Have you visited the website lately? They have a forum for their patients now where you can post questions to the staff. They answer questions pretty quick too......go see it is nice.

Any advice on good Doctors in Washington State that do Lap Band? My insh is Group Health and they will pay for RNY as far as I know they will not pay for Lap Band, anyone know different? I may have to be a self pay. I am too afraid of RNY so, band it must be. Advice please? Dreamer:)

HI Folks, I have been reading a lot of posts the past week and can not figure out what PB'ing means?? I am also concerned because I can not find many post on DR KURI in Mexico. My friends and family are surportive of the lap band but not in me going to Mexico. What I have heard about DR Kuri has been all good. Nothing bad!!! Just wanting to feel a little more conident in my March 20th surgery date. Thanks for all your comments.

I was just wondering if anyone has been banded in Mexico with Dr. Huacuz? I received several emails from his office explaining package prices with/without airfare and it sounds to me to be a great deal. Hi everyone I'm looking for a doctor for my Operation Manager's friend. Her friend is thinking of having this done and I want to be able to give her a couple of doctors. I had the band done 1/22/07. so far before and after surgery I lost 30lbs and I'm starting to feel good about myself. I have around another 70lbs to go but I try not to look at that. What's nice is that I'm able to talk about my experience to other people who are thinking about having it done and also what a blessing it is once you've had it done.

The 3 most important factors were 1)cost 2)safety and 3)experience. This is a new Hospital here in Houston and it supposed to be State of the art. Dr. Marvin is doing surgery their for WLS and from what I understand is a regular surgeon as well. Is anyone familiar with him or the hospital?

Well I met the famous Dr C yesterday. I had my consult, psych eval, and nutrition eval all in one day. They did this to help me out since I have a two hour drive each way.Isn't that terrific? Well as usual, you guys were right! He and his staff were wonderful. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and down to earth. Wow, what a great experience. I cannot wait to be banded! Has anyone ever had their surgery through the "Center for Weightloss Surgery" right next door to Northridge Hospital in Calif?

If anyone is considering using them,they are the best. Very friendly and accomidating(sp?). The whole experience I've had with them has been great.Very professional and great bedside manners.The whole office staff is awesome too.
