GOOD Lap Band surgeon in Salt Lake City area?????

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of a good lap band surgeon in the Salt Lake City area? Preferably affiliated with a big hospital, not an independent surgery center. Thank you!

Also- it would help if they accepted Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance. Thanks!

There is a place called Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians. It is affiliated with St. Mark's Hospital. That is where I attended my class and am waiting for insurance approval. I also have Blue Cross Blue Shield through Wyoming. They seem to be great doctors. Four of my co-workers have had the gastric bypass done through this office and were very pleased. I am selecting Dr. McKinlay, however, there are two other doctors but Dr. McKinlay has been doing it the longest. Good luck on your journey!

I'm gonna have to pimp Dr. McKeen too - very good - I was a self pay but I think Blue Cross should cover it - you just have to jump through alot of hoops to get them to pay for it - you have to be on a Dr. supervised diet for a year, see the head shrinker, nutritionist etc etc etc yada yada yada . . .

good luck

I did a search and found several... I went to the bariatric surgeons association or something like that online and did a search.

Being uninsured I went to Mexico, Baja and it only cost 7k.

Tomorrow is my first fill w/ Highland Family Practice thru fillcentersusa.

Keep us posted on who you choose!

Fill Centers USA - Weight Loss Surgery - Bariatric Surgery - Gastric Bypass Surgery - Lap Band Surgery Information and Support is their website, but just went and found it not working... did yesterday! oh, well, maybe down for site maintenance.

Fill Centers require the provider charge: (going from memory)

$299 for the first visit and includes fill

$1?? maybe 125 or 150 or 199 - can't remember for all other subsequent visits and includes a fill

Fluro costs like $80 extra, no matter if it's first or subsequent visit.

Any time you need an 'unfill adjustment' if you notify fillcentersusa w/in a week, or 3 days, it's FREE as long as you go back w/in 3 weeks (or something like that)

and if you need just a visit w/o adjustments, it's $75.

I will post a thread on how my first visit with them goes.

Have your friend call Highland Family Practice and see how much an adjustment is w/ Dr. Muse... maybe a better rate is used if not going thru fillcentersusa. Maybe not! He can always go thru the fillcentersusa if prices are too high.

Good luck!

Thank you - I'll pass that along - good that it's in Highland and close - it's been about a year since he's been banded so he's due for a fill.

The fill today was way BETTER than expected. Dr. Muse was wonderful, efficient, and thorough.

There were several patients coming and going.... at the radiologist.... the same folks were there.... they all were banded in Mexico. There were two others just passing through the area and stopped in for a fill.

Bullseye the first attempt and I got 2cc's for my first fill.

I'm happy...very happy.

$299 and $85 for fluro. After today will be $155 and I don't think he's gonna need fluro! He's very experienced.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
