  1. I had lap band surgery over a year ago and have lost 100 lbs. I am soooooo cold. It's not too bad during other months, but winter (and I even live in south Texas) I just am COLD. Does anybody else experience this or maybe do I have thyroid problems. Anybody?
  2. My COBRA insurance with my husband's group plan will expire in March of 2009. Can anyone give me any suggestions as to which/if any insurance companies will cover me after having lap band surgery. I am one year post op and weigh 196. Thanks for the help!
  3. Warning!!! The guilt trip we have put on ourselves most of our lives only increases our desire to eat. Don't feel guilty and just keep gaining weight (that's what I have always done). If you need to call the doctor, do it, no shame necessary. If you have gained weight, stop now, before you are back to square one. Come on and let's support one another and get back on track.
  4. In a few months, I will need to begin to look for new health insurance. My son and I are now covered under COBRA insurance BCBS at my now deceased husband's workplace. Will the band effect me getting health insurance? Should I even tell them I have it? Anyone with experience or information please let me know. Thanks.
  5. Dr. Spivak did my surgery in August. He and his staff were very helpful and experienced. I had mine done at Park Plaza Medical Center; I came home the same day. It's been a good experience. Let me know if there are other questions I can answer.
  6. For mushies stage/or solid as it soothes my taste for Mexican food. It's an old WW recipe. 1 can of refried Beans 1 can of Rotel (whichever hotness works for you) 1/2 to 1 whole can of chicken broth Mix together with your favorite seasons: mine are garlic, minced onion, chili power, whatever and eat.
  7. Check his website.
  8. I have eaten about all the spenda pudding and popsicles I can eat. Does anyone have other ideas for my sweet tooth. Thanks...........
  9. I had mine in a hospital; but, (who also happens to be my best friend and has my best interest at heart)!!!!! This seems like a given to me.......
  10. Dr. Spivak, Park Plaza Hospital, Houston, Texas
  11. Hi! I will be three weeks out Tuesday and am in the "soft foods" stage. Is anyone at this stage eating salads? I'm getting hungry for one; funny I never enjoyed salads that much before I was banded. I am about "softed" out..........Thanks.
  12. I was banded Aug. 21, so I am eight days out and HUNGRY! The better I feel, the hungrier I get.
  13. Sharigout: Yes, he has seminars to attend: Wed. and Sat. and you can have a consult with him afterward, first come, first serve. Call his office if you want to sign up or check in on-line. NO liquid diet before surgery, I was glad too. Oh, no tests either, due to my age and overall health and being self-pay. I understand about wanting the surgery part to be over, this was my first time to be under general anesthesia.
  14. I was banded by Dr. Spivak, Tues., Aug. 21. Self-pay, it was two weeks between first appt. and surgery. I am doing well. I had a choice between Park Plaza Hospital and Physicians Surgery Center. I had mine at the hospital and they were very nice and professional. Let me know if I can answer anymore questions, although I am just at the beginning myself. Pray about it.
  15. I was banded Aug. 21 in Houston by Dr. Spivak. I'm feeling better each day.
