Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals

My surgeon is Dr. Thomas Umbach. It says he has 2 years of experience and does not take out of town patients or do out patient surgery. Well, I am 2 years and 3 months post-op (and I was definitely not his first). I flew to see him from WA state (he is in Nevada) and he offered in/out patient and I chose out-patient so that I could actually rest the first night (hate being in hospitals and they wake you up to see how you are feeling!) Anyone else notice incorrect information about their surgeon?

Hi There! I'm considering having the VSG in a few month in Mexico. I'd be very interested in speaking with Post Op patients that are further along say 2 years or more post op of Dr Aceves and Dr Alvarez. These are the two doctors I'm still on the fence which one to choice. I have spoken to a few post op patients that recently got the sleeve. Hi all! I am moving to Prescott Valley for a year while my husband is over seas. Anyways.... are there any recommended Drs in N.AZ? I want to have one in place "in case" I need one. I am about 20 weeks pregnant and have 10cc's in a 14 cc band. So far all is wonderful!! i just need someone if I do need to have a bit taken out and to also check my band after I give birth. I prefer fluoroscopy if possible. Did I mention I love my band

hello all, i was just wondering how do we know when we finally reached our green zone?? i just had my first fill a few weeks ago and I'm not as hungry as i was before the fill.But i have heard people talk abt the green zone or sweet spot. And i was just wondering how does one know when they've reached it?? can anyone shine some light into this topic thank you in advance!

I went to a seminar today and he was the speaker. He was really nice and helpful with answering questions. Suppose to be one of the best in Pacific Northwest. The hospital he works at is in Everett and specifically does bariactric surgeries and specializes in lap band, which is great. they also have great deals. Like i went to the seminar today and they gave me a coupon for a free consultation and it's worth like $260. They also give you coupon for free fills after you get surgeries and want to guess speak at the seminar. I was banded out of country .. and I want to get fills in SF Bay area where I actually live. I am willing to travel up to North bay or San Jose area, but would prefer either East Bay or SF I was banded in December 2011, and since then, I've lost some weight but lately (for past 1.5 months), I've been eating almost like a normal person. I've contacted one office and they gave me a quote for a year of unlimited fills, but there is a slight chance that I might be moving out of state in the summer, and did not want to stick to such long term commitment. My BMI hovers around 37-38. I have slightly high cholesterol and sleep apnea, but my PCP does not support this surgery. She wants me to try diet and exercise AGAIN! Does anyone have a supportive PCP that they would recommend?

I had my band placed by doctor Carl Weiss may 21st 2008 and I have nothing to say but good things about him and his amazing team he works with. They are ALL very supportive and have truly given me my life back. I started at 343lbs and im now down to 218lbs. With this team of caring people you get support groups every Wednesday , a Nutritionists that's very easy to get a hold of and even an appointment with a Physical Therapists to start you off on easy but effective exercises. I'm scheduled for the sleeve on April 10th. My bmi is only 28 but I'm approved in Mexico because I got the band there, which is not working n makes it very painful to eat. My fear is that because my BMI is so low that I will lose too much weight and become frail and sickly. Is there anyone out there whose BMI was similar to mine they can give me your results and how you doing? Loved how his staff were always on top of everything because I have to admit I'm a procrastinator however I'd say that I only saw DR Bertha twice. On my first consultation and the day of my surgery. I wish I could of ask him more questions. He did a great job and people told me he had been doing this for years. But I kinda like better DC Ainaci just because I had more visits from him

I'm really searching Mexico Surgeons. I am ready to make my appointment, but I'm confused on Surgeons now. I have been working with Amy from Belite and she has been wonderful. I know they use Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Aramburo out of Juarez and Tijuana. I've read great posts about them both. Leaning towards Tijuana. Just wanting to make sure I'm making the right decision for my long term success. Any suggestions would be great. Help!? :-)

I think it's called fluro. I have read that the doctor that I think or thought I was going with uses fluro and you get very tiny fills. Kinda discouraged about this. Any advice? Thanks!

Has anyone used Dr Voellinger from Charlotte NC? I am attending a seminar with him on the 22nd of February. If you have seen him or used him for your lap band procedure...I would love to hear about your experience with him(good or bad) went. I have my initial appointment in a week- would love feedback on him- I have read he's not got the best bedside manner, but I really don't care so much about that. My time is running out. I need to decide on a doctor now. I actually scheduled and paid deposit with Dr. Ortiz but now having 2nd thoughts. He did my lap band, wonderful experience, so just automatically thought he was the one for my revision.. Hello, I'm new here and this is my first post. I found Dr. Enoch's website online and have made a appt. for my first consult next week. My situation: BMI is 37 - 38 with issues - ins. will pay if I'm approved I have heard something about a $1,000 maintainace fee? The cost is $9950 for cash pay but they can't give me a price over the phone for the cost if ins. approves me? I can only have the surgery if ins. covers their part and then I could afford the rest. I have heard Dr. Enoch is great but is he the most expensive? I have not heard anything about the maintaince fee for any other doctor I have research. Any advice would be greatly appriated.

I am looking for anyone who had a VSG with Rodolpho Arreola at Hamot Bariatrics in Erie PA? I contacted this surgeon and he says he does VSG but I am having a hard time finding any VSG patients, I would like to hear about your experience with him. I had been looking into Mexico and had thought I made up my mind but I am just checking my options close to home. Family is giving me a hard time about going to Mexico. I am going back to Dr. Almanza on Feb 27th for a resleeve and poss. duodenal switch. My coordinator told me that when Dr. Almanza did the gastric bypass and duodenal switch he was always assisted by Dr. Ponce de Leon. I saw his name a couple of times on here last year when I was first researching the gastric sleeve, but I didn't pay much attention because he wasn't the doctor that I had chosen to do my surgery. Any information that any of his previous patients could give me would be great because my surgery date is coming up soon and I want to know how is going to be helping with my surgery if I chose that route.

Hi, well im a teen 15 almost 16, thats been going through the process of gastric sleeve surgery since may of 2011, and ive done every thing but the surgery, my insurance is tricare and blue cross but they both denied it a couple of times. so i came across dr. alverez and read he does surgery anybody over 14 so that good but i would like more info about your experince.., everything. Hi all, just had revision surgery with Dr Alami at Kaiser and I can't say enough wonderful things about him. He has a great bedside manner, asks a lot of questions, and really cares about the patient. When the Dr got inside to fix my band, he found a lot of scar tissue. I think a lot of surgeons would have just taken out the band and called it a day. Dr Alami spend an extra hour in the operating room removing scar tissue and reworking my stomach so I could have a new band. He went above and beyond, and for that I'm very grateful. I have been to my original consult and they seem to really know what they are doing. I have Aetna, so they have given me my "road map" to what needs to happen over the next 3-4 months, including Psych eval, EKG, blood work, Nurtionist, etc... Has anyone else been through this with True Results in Dallas and more specifically, had Dr Fox as their surgeon? Thanks
