Would like to hear about anyones experience with Dr. Garcia and Hispital Mi Doctor. I had not heard anything negative about either until a few days ago. Planning on scheduling surgery for next month would love feedback. Thanks

I just had a consult with Dr. Oliak and I think I'm ready to move forward. Not 100%, but maybe 90% sure I want to do this. The consult was easy and I think I was more nervous about it than I should have been. He was very thorough and I was impressed by his outcomes of successful patients. I am beginning my journey with Dr Sanchez at Lovelace West side in Albuquerque New Mexico. Are there any bandsters here who have used this facility and Dr.? I am very impressed so far and am interested in anyones elsed experience.So far I have had my Consult, gotten insurance varification andstarted the 3 months supervised diet. If anyone living in or near Bloomington, IN is considering the lap-band I whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Ray. He and the staff at the Center for Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery are the kindest and most competent staff I have ever dealt with. I was recently banded and other than some gas pains, I had no pain. Dr. Ray is such a warm doctor and his staff are as well. Totally Recommend.

I have looked into financing options but getting a loan is out the question because my credit is not up to par. I don't have medical insurance so that is not an option either so I will have to be a self-pay patient. My husband is against the idea of me going to Mexico because he think that I will get sick and just thought that it was a crazy idea. There is no convincing him. So I've thought long and hard about this - I've decided to go to Mexico and have the surgery done. I've been through flaming hoops with insurance companies 5 times now and I just don't want to do it again. I have the funds to go to Mexico and just get it done and not deal with red tape. Please help me, I have a friend of mine that I work with that has not followed hardly any Vitamins regimen. She is probably 15 months out and she told me today that she maybe has taken 30 days worth of her vitamins off and on over the last year. She does eat quite a bit more that I can, so I am wondering if she is getting the proper nutrients just from food. I know there have been other patients that have passed away from not taken the right care of their bodies. Hi, I live near downtown Dallas and looking for a great surgeon in the Dallas area. With a good staff. Good follow-up care. Good support. I am a high risk case, so I need the best. Thank you Thank you Dr. Anderson, my surgery was November 18th at St. Al's and this being my first surgery of any kind, I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon. I appreciate the explanations of everything that would happen before and after surgery. I am thankful for all the pre-OP testing I did, even though I haven't had that many Dr. appointments in my entire life in ONE month. But it was all worth it. 5 days postOP and I feel really great. I am a self pay person. Just when I made up my mind to go to Mexicali Mexico to have surgery with Dr Aceves, I hear about Dr Washington in SC. He is cheaper than flying to Mexico and I could drive. I am sooooo conflicted on what to do. Has anyone had surgery with him? I am not so sure anymore. WHAT TO DO?????

So, I was chatting with the nurse and she said that when the band is put on this actually repairs the hernia and that it is really not two separate procedures. Has anyone ever heard of this? I thought to myself, "well, if that is the case then why am I being charged for two different procedures?" lol. Insurance is paying for the hernia repair and I am coughing up the difference for the lapband so if that is the case then why not accept what the insurance pays?

Hi Zoe -- I just saw your other post that said you were getting operated in Germany, so I thought I'd weigh in on this one. I didn't have surgery in Germany, but in Switzerland. My experience (and there are other Americans in Germanic countries round here too, though they don't post all that much) is that they don't provide a TON of info up front, though they do do all the testing that is required -- eg, chest x-ray, endoscopy, etc. Have they mentioned when you will do this testing? Looks like you will have surgery in Frankfurt, but you live in Amsterdam? Are you doing self-pay? What kind of pre- and post-care can you get in your home location? The things I would be …

I am not choosing to do lap band, but I am doing WLS and would like to know more about this Dr. I am a member of the sister site, vertical sleeve, and I have looked up his name, but havent seen it. I have heard a mixture of info regarding this dr. and feel like I am lacking in my knowledge to make a good educational decision regarding him as a surgeon for my sleeve. I Just wanted to let anyone know who is booking surgery with dr. Ponce de leon and his wonderful crew, that i had a great experience there. the hospital is clean the staff is fantastic. the guest house that you will stay at after surgery is beautiful and the lady who runs it even more beautiful. if you are booking surgery or thinking about it please private msg me and i will help you and give the ins and outs. and just to WARN you there is people out there that will use the surgeons name and try to scam you so please make sure you do your research and book through the right people.

Dr. Darin Minkin recently paired up with SSM HealthCare in St. Louis and is performing surgeries at St. Clare and DePaul hospitals for Exclusive Choice Insurance. He works for Des Peres Hospital mainly and does the majority of his surgeries at that hospital. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is very experienced with lap band. He also performs the other surgeries too. He has 2 other surgeons in his office. Office staff is very informative and helpful. For new patients he charges $75.00 to join the practice. Hi all, I am planning to do the band in Sep with Dr. Jay. Anyone planning with Dr. Jay? I like Dr. Jay but waited from 230pm to 415pm for my first consult. I got the paperwork for my lab and EKG and want to get it done asap in Sep. Has anyone done the band with Dr. Jay? Or other suggestion in the DFW area? Hi I am Dedee and I am seriously thinking about getting lap band. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the FIRST steps to take are? I do have a referral from my doctor for the insurance already. What is the next thing I need to do, besides finding a doctor of course :-) I am trying to find a doctor close but I do not seem to be able to find any lap band doctors in the Macon area. Dr. Carter is my surgeon, and he's wonderful. He's very sweet and comforting, kind of funny. He banded me on November 25, 2009 and I would recommend him.

** This is me venting, but I guarantee you that it's all facts. I don't have any problem with any of the staffs, they are very nice. But I can't stand the business-practice.... Here are some of my experience with the Dr. Krahn's staffs... First time was when the finance person called me 5 weeks ago, I couldn't asnwer the call but I called her right back (with in 5 mins of the missed call). I ended up leaving a message asking her to call me back. I never got the phone call. I called her atleast once a day, leaving one message a day for over a week. I,m getting banded dec. 22 in the woodlands TX. I have only told a few people one being my boss. I had to tell my boss to get time off this month since i didnt expect insurance to approve so fast. at lunch the other day i was drinking my protein shake and my boss made a big deal out it. Hi there, Had an appointment with Dr. Neal in Olympia last week and am hoping to be banded this summer. I originally intended to use NWWLS in Mill Creek but they weren't willing to fight for insurance for me (I'm a 35 BMI). Dr. Neal was happy to help out and we'll see what happens. I'm worried though that if we can't get coverage I won't be able to use him as a self-pay patient since his self-pay cost is about $17k and moe than I can spend. Just wondering if anyone has worked with Dr. Neal and if they'd like to share their experience either here or via direct email. I can't find much about him on the boards... Thanks! Britt

Did anyone have their surgery at the AG Center for Advanced Medicine?

Most folks are pretty vocal about how much they love or hate their surgeon, I am trying to create a website that allows folks to rate their surgeon as a service to others that may be interested in the surgery. The link to the site is in my signature and as you will see when you visit, we are not selling anything and there are zero ads. Think of it as the consumer reports for Lap-Band surgeons. I would be eternally thankful for your feedback as I have met some really bad Lap-Band surgeons and some really good ones. You don't have to use your real name or real email address for that matter, but PLEASE be honest as it will help others in the long run.

Dr. Christopher Eagon was my lap band surgeon that I had done on Nov. 14, 2011. As a Doctor he is very kind, takes time to address any questions you have and will be honest with you about what to expect. The downside is when you have an appointment with his office, don't expect to get in and out quickly because he does spend time with each patient. The day of surgery Dr. Eagon was prompt and his staff made sure I was informed about what to expect in every aspect. Considering how nerve wracking surgery can be overall it was a good experience. I had little pain, and healing nicely. I would recommend him to a friend for sure!

Dr. Larson is such a wonderful doctor! He's very personable and he listens and takes notes whenever you're in his office. His staff is always willing to take calls or call back as soon as they get a chance. JFK offers two meetings a month to get together and socialize with fellow bandsters. The whole office is completely laid back and I'm never nervous or anxious before check-ups. I would recommend them 100% - not a doubt in my mind!
