Hi my name is Maddy... I had my surgery July 13th of this year and I am doing fantastic with the "new me". Love that I can now excercise without getting out of breath. Love that my clothes are getting bigger and bigger as I get smaller and smaller. I hit a plateau this week and I am feeling frustrated... any tips?

I recently had surgery in Memphis and had my first couple of adjustments by Dr Woodman. The surgery he did went without any problems and I was back to work two days later. I was scared about the 'fills' because of what a friend of mine told me - she went to St Francis in Memphis and had a nightmare experience. She didn't even have a doctor see her - it was just that Dr's nurse!? Anyway, Dr. Woodman did my adjustments in about two seconds! It was really easy. I am SOOO happy that I had surgery with Dr Woodman and not in Nashville or at St Francis. Anyone who is making this same decision in the Midsouth really needs to see Dr Woodman, he is the best.

Hi All, I'm new to this forum and hoping to network with some great people for support. I am waiting for Insurance approval for VSG surgery with Dr. Mitchel Roslin. He has a practice in NYC at Lenox Hill Hospital but has recently opened a practice at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt Kisco , NY. I am wondering if there is anyone here on this forum who has Dr. Roslin as their surgeon and could give me some feedback as to their experience with him. I was orginally introduce to him on the ObesityHelp.com site when I was researching Gastric Bypass and was told about the DS. I did have a consult with him back in 09 and he suggested the 2 part (VSG then the switch) due…

Unfourunately, I can not kick the habits of sweets...My bodycraves sweets no matter how much i resist, I need something sweet during the day. I am approaching my one year anniversary and I will be the first to say I have done terrible. I just need to find something that will detox my body of the cravings. I dont have any restriction because I am afraid of the fills.Everytime I get a fill it's an overfill and I just simply feel miserable. Regrouping myself

Hello Folks at Lap Band Talk, I am just a visitor, but I figured you guys would want to know about this. You may have heard about Paula Rojeski. She was the fifth person in CA since 2009 to die when undergoing Lap-Band surgery at an outpatient surgical center. There are some serious issues with the safety regulations at these centers and some folks are trying to make these procedures safer. As the law currently stands, these centers have very little government oversight. If their accreditation is revoked for unsafe conditions, they can simply make some small changes and apply to be accredited through a different private agency, continuing their business and puttin…

Hello i was told by some to see Dr Robin Blackstone in scottsdale. my insurance says the doctor must do surgery at a place that has a center of excellance rating. I am going to guess all the Banner hospitals have that. I also heard about a group of doctors in Tempe. Dr Barrios maybe? I am sure other individual doctors do it also.

UPDATE A warning for those who consider going to NYU for the surgery My coordinator at the NYU Surgical Coordinator Office - unprofessional voice mail always full, never return messages, did not tell the truth regarding when they she submitted or even IF they she submitted paperwork to insurance. Had to get Office Manager involved in order for my file to be sent to the insurance. However the key papers (already in the file) were not submitted by my coordinator. Spoke with Office manager again, hopefully my coordinator will send complete file to the insurance on Monday. On the lighter note - my Insurance rep is wonderful!!! Have to wonder if all the '…

After a lot of research I have decided to go to Dr. Jaime Ponce for my first consultation, I haven't found a single bad thing about him and he is very experienced. I was wondering for those of you that had him as your doctor did you have to have the 6 month supervised diet? Did he require the 2 week pre-op liquid diet? I don't see him until the middle of next month but I'm trying to find out what to expect. What was your experience with Dr. Jaime Ponce? (Not to be confused with Dr. Ponce De Leon)

I recently changed insurance to UHC, and I have read that they have a pretty good rate of "approving" the surgery. Is it best to go to the Dr's office and meet with them, or should I call the insurance? Also, anyone know of good Dr's in Dallas? Thanks, J 262 lbs goal 160 or close to that.

Well I have not got a surgery date yet, but I am so satisfied with the thorough exam they are doing on me CEDAR SANAI has my approval. See I recently went to another facility in long beach CA, and they gave Me a surgery date within 2weeks , but they never did a good exam like Cedars. Cedars is just not going to put this foreign object in you for the hell off it... I have shop around and I finally have a sense of comfort all the way around. GO CEDARS!

Hi, I'm in the process of pursuing lapband as well. I'm curious as to what pre-surgury diet Dr. Wagner does? And are the pre-tests usually done all at once? We were at another Dr. seminar last night and someone had mentioned that they were the only ones that did all the same day testing. But since my insurance won't cover the surgery and Dr. Wagner is a little less costly, we are looking into him. Also... has anyone done the out-patient surgery? I'm a little leary about that.

Am I doing the right things I need some support . I don't see a big difference since I got the band on 4/18. I walk and have cut my portion sizes . All I know is that I get food stuck from time to time and have to wash it down with something . What should I do then? Should I stop eating ? Anyone losing 50 or more lbs have to be doing what is required of them . I just think that I am never going to lose this weight. I am currently at 282 for 305 when I was weighed . It is hard for me to let the carbs completly go. In the past I was only a carb eater. I am 36 years old and just had a son in 2010. I need to get this weight off of me I am so disappointed about it. Please some…

hello Friends- I may be faced with a big move, i was just banded in March of 2011 and may be moving south to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Also my possible new employer does not give health insurance BUT does give 3000 towards it. So my question is 2 fold 1. Has anybody had any good or bad with the " Fill centers" i see there is one right on HHI wich would be helpfull. I will be talking more to my DR once i know more and see what they have to say, but in t he meatime i would like some feed back from fellow banders. How bad is it with OUT insurance???? i think i can get health insurance on my own with the $ they give me, Ehealthinsurance or something?? 2. A…

If you haven't done so you should rate Dr Owens...let others know of your experience......actually everyone should rate their doctors....I only saw 6 (I was #7) ratings and I know he has done more surgeries than that....If you are happy with Dr Owens and his staff you should let others know so those looking for doctors in this area can consider him for their surgery....I for one am extremely happy with Dr Owens...I have had problems, which are my own fault, and he has been so helpful in getting me back on track. I go to his Rancho Cucamonga office and really am happy with his office staff too...Common everyone, lets give credit where credit is due....

Hi. I just wanted to review my doc. He is wonderful. His office staff is awesome. I had a terrific experience with him. I paid around $15000, which included hospital stay, anesthesia, and the surgeon fee. Plus, all of my office visits and fills are included for a year. I can call their office whenever I have a question and they don't make me feel stupid. Also, once a month he has support group meetings at the hospital, which are extremely helpful, especially if you are feeling down or have questions. I would definitely recommend him to anyone considering the lap band. :biggrin2:

Hey everyone. I'm going to write about my experience with Dr. McCloskey since the only thread written was by me 4 months ago! I finally have a surgery date, which is Friday! Dec 17th. And I'm really REALLY nervous. My experience so far with Magee hospital has really been great. The staff is very nice and comforting. I had to complete a 6 month supervised diet, and to be honest I didn't lose any weight. I actually gained, and I was really embarrassed, but the staff never mentioned my weight gain. I had my initial visit with McCloskey about 1 month into my diet, and she is an extremely nice, intelligent woman. I get ridiculously nervous at any appointment, and I think she r…

Do you know any one who quit the bariatrics program and then returned after a long time? I was wondering if when you came back, did you get a new pre op weight goal or did they make you keep the same goal? I was gone for 4 years and gained 40 pounds. They wouldn't expect me to lose all that weight pre op would they?

I am scheduled for my Info class this month in Vacaville, but I know that the surgeries are performed in Richmond. I am curious if they do the first weigh in at the INFO class or at the Orientation class or are they the same? I was in this program way back in '07 but got cold feet and things seem to have changed quite a bit since then. I don't remember having to attend an INFO class last time.

Dr. Snow is a great doctor. Excellent bed-side manner. He explains things in easy-to-understand terms. He came highly recommended to me, 4 other people before me went to him. They are all doing well and one is even a local celebrity - was on a commercial for him! I would recommend him to anyone. His office staff are really nice and helpful too.

I'm traveling there with my daughter next week. This web site has been very informative for me however I wonder where the support person stays. I was told that they make room for you, does that mean we are put out back? LOL Is this a safe place? While I am very excited for my daughter, after reading all of the posts it has given me some things to think about. Her surgery is on Aug 30th. I'm hoping that there is someone out there that can give me some feed back! Martirae
