Anyone had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy done by Dr. Blaine Nease out of Cabell Huntington Hospital? If so, what was your experience? Also, if you have had Dr. Nease perform other procedures (i.e. lap band revision to sleeve, gastric bypass, etc.) Any feedback is appreciated. Strongly considering VSG in the next few months.

My doctor was Dr. Mitchell Roslin at Lenox Hill Bariatrics my only issue is the wait holycrap they have you wait forever no matter what time the appointment is the waiting room is always packed and they have 3 or 4 doctors but my overall experience was good dr roslin gets straight to point and with any issues u have he has a suggestion for almost everything. Overall if you want hand holding and rocking you sorry you won't it there if u want good surgeons then you are in good hands.

I was banded on 4/28/09 by Dr. Harrison at Lehigh Valley Hospital. I had absolutely no pain after surgery, or gas as many others had. No pain meds since surgery. I am 19 days out 16.5 lbs down and my incisions are healed with minor scarring which is diminishing everyday. I have my first fill coming on 6/11/09 and I am eating just about anything I want after chewing, chewing, chewing,(just not in any great portions). I find myself getting full fast and just stop and save what is left for another meal. Dr. Harrison is great IMHO. He takes time to explain everything to you and is always there if you have questions. Thanks for changing my life!

Has anyone had GS with this doctor? I cannot find a lot of information on him. I have sent emails and he is thorough in his pre-op requirements. I have a blockage in my leg and he really is concerned with that as well as cardiology etc. Any help on him would be greatly appreciated. We live in San Carlos Sonora Mexico so he is 1.5 hours away from us if complications arise.

Hello, I'm new here. I had the sleeve on July 5th. I was out of the hospital in two days. Shortly thereafter, I got a fungus infection in my mouth and on tongue. I ended up going to Urgent Care to get treatment. I was then giving a prescription for post-op fungal infection. I was not given antibiotics upon leaving the hospital. I cannot find out what is proper. The hospital will not answer my queries. Are there any laws in Nevada to require post-op surgery patients to get antibiotics? What is proper. Zia

I found out that Dr. Sergey Lyass will be performing my VSG. While he is based in Southern California and I am in Southern Nevada (Las Vegas Area), he apparently travels to LV to perform surgeries twice a month. So, with that said: I would love to hear from those who have had any kind of experience, good, bad or indifferent as it relates to Dr. Lyass. Thanks in advance.

I had surgery with Dr. Baggs through Kaiser Richmond on April 13, 2009. I can't say enough good about him. Very professional, very capable doctor and his sense of humor and good bedside manner is a huge plus. Made me feel very comfortable in what could have been a stressful situation. He also is very quick to respond to questions and knows is very educated on all the answers. I totally trusted him as a surgeon and he rocks at fills for all you future bandsters out there!! I think all the surgeons at Kaiser Richmond are great but I would definetely recommend chosing him as a surgeon and give him a very high five star rating!! The Richmond kaiser program rocks and is…

I was banded almost 1 year ago by Dr. Marina Kurian (LOVE HER) from Lenox Hill Hospital's Bariatric program. Dr. Kurian has just left Lenox Hill to join NYU's practice with Dr. Fielding and Dr. Ren. I have my first appointment at her NYU office at the end of this month. I have heard mixed reviews about the NYU office staff and was looking for feedback. I do know that while I was still researching surgeons, I had an extremely tough time setting up a consult appointment with Dr. Fielding or Dr. Ren. Perhaps it was because I wasn't an actual patient yet? Anyway, what have your experiences with NYU's office staff been like? Also, has anyone else been banded by Dr. …

Both hospitals have been awarded the "Certificate of Excelence". Has anyone had surgery here in Fl. besides Ocala? Thanks for any advice..

Please help!! So many decisions! What Michigan surgeons do you recommend and why? What pre-qualifications do they require for a self-payer. How has your experience been pre-surgery and post-surgery? I'm brand new to all of this and I need lots of advice. My husband and I are very seriously looking at the Lap Bands for both of us. It sounds like a wonderful option if used as a tool appropriately. Mexico surgeons look tempting for cost due to I'm a self-payer. However, if I could find a local surgeon that would be all the better for the whole thing. I'm worried about what you sacrifice in a cost difference from a $5500 surgery to a $17,000 surgery. Any and all h…

Just got sleeved on Thursday, July 12 by Dr. Billing. I just want to mention to anyone thiinking about using them for your sleeve...DO IT! They are awesome. From the office staff, to the nurses, to the surgeon and anesthesiologist. I felt completely comfortable in their hands. When I woke up after surgery, I was quite nauseaous and in a bit of pain. The nurses were right there anytime I needed them. They did everything they could to help ease the nausea and pain. Dr. Billing came by to check on me as well, and made sure I was doing okay. The sleeve is done as an outpatient surgery here and I and planned on going home for the night (about 2 hours away) and then goi…

I had Lap Band surgery almost a year ago (8/4/2011). Down 85# and couldn't be happier about my progress. Dr. McDowell of Baptist Metabolic Surgery Center is the best surgeon, ally, cheerleader I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Every time I go see him he is so positive and uplifting. Never a cross word or a discouraging glance. If you are considering Weight loss surgery in Nashville or surrounding area, check them out. They are all amazing! Thanks Dr. McDowell and all the staff at BMSC. I couldn't do this without you!

I've tentatively selected Dr. Lavin in Louisiana even though I live in California. I got a great feeling from him on the phone plus he's a lot cheaper than some of the doctors near me. Should I be concerned about how complications will be handled? His office told me that I'd need to go back to their hospital in Louisiana if complications arise. Is that common? I know a lot of folks go to Mexico. Is it worth around $4K (travel factored in) more to have it done locally? -JZ

So, I was all set to go to Mexico for surgery next month and then one of my sister's friends went down for the same procedure and did not come back. I know, I know- the odds and lots of other things- but to say that this has caused a family freak-out is an understatement. SO- rather than turn this into an all out "sh8t show" I have agreed to look into options in the US. Here is the problem- I am 100% self pay and the Drs I have spoken to in the NYC area have said that they don't do gastric sleeve for self-pay patients- only the lap band (which I don't want- I can't get my head around having a foreign object into my body AND I have very stubborn PCOS and have heard that …

Would be very interested in chatting with anyone in my area who has had the surgery, or considering having it.

Hello everyone, I currently have a great doctor way up in N NJ however the doctor has become very slack with me and his office staff really has issues with follow through. I have become a bit disenchanted with all of them. I have moved just down the road from Voorhees and when I did a search on this lap band topic Dr. Adam Goldstein's name came up with a very high rating. I move here from Missouri a bit over a year ago and had a pioneer in the lap band process and was extremely happy with him but then moved. Although my current doctor is amazing his lack of response to my concerns really is bothering me. My medical insurance runs out at the end of the month and …

This is a letter I wrote to the practice administrator for Dr. Cywes and Dr. Pinnar outlining the many reasons I decided to go with another surgeon even though it will cost me more money and time. I wasn't going to post it publicly, but since they seem inclined to ignore my repeated requests for my medical records, I feel justified in doing so. For what it's worth I do like Dr. Pinnar, but the accumulation of all the issues below finally motivated me to make the change. Dear ******, I am contacting you as the practice administrator to request that all claims submitted to my insurance provider be withdrawn and to outline the reasons for my decision to go with another…

Well, I did it! It feels a little anticlimactic I must admit. Scars are so not a big deal. However during surgery they found a hernia (which they had mentioned at pre-op, but said it was not one that it would require ANY intervention... wrong). I am in way more pain than I expected. I presume it's from the hernia repair more than the band placement. I only have some tenderness at the port site. Had to email my boss to add Thursday & Friday to my leave request (not happy about that). I walk a lot at work (2-3 miles daily on average) but at present I walk like an old man. I'm most comfortable with 1 pain pill & 1 muscle relaxer every 3-4 hours but only helps when I…

So @ 2 months to 1 year out, how much fluid can you swallow at 1 time. At 1st it seems that at 1st you are down to very small sips at one time drinking often. So after the swelling is gone are you able to say swallow a mouth full of water without it hurting. Also can you drink say 4-8 ozs at a time?
