Ok so here goes, I have been moderately overweight my entire life however my weight has gotten a bit out of control over the last 8 years. I should point out that my ENTIRE family has been virtually wiped out by obesity and heart disease/hypertension (some as young as 52, and he was the most healthy). After having blood work done in the process of getting the Lap-Band procedure I learned that although I DO NOT have a cholesterol problem (never have) and NOT having a blood pressure/hypertension issue (also, never have), I do have a C-Reactive protein that is a precursor to eminent heart disease as well as severe sleep apnea. I have consulted a cardiologist as a precaution who put me on a pro-active statin. I have gone through all of the pre-op hoops and finally was given a surgery date of July 2, 2012.

It took longer than I had hoped because I had to put it off as my mom suffered from a stroke-like condition called PRES which is caused by her chronic hypertension. This condition put her in a level-6 coma for over t10 days and during that time of stress I out on another 10+ pounds! I previously had lost a significant amount of weight and got down to 209 a few years ago but as you all know they crept back on (and then more). I refuse to continue and be in the predicament all my family has suffered through even though they ALL had hig blood pressure & cholesterol their entire adult life whereas I never have had those issues. I am lucky to have health insurance carrier that is more amiable than most when it comes to covering bariatric surgery.

I am so excited I just can't wait to get healthy once & for all!!! :ph34r:
