I've been overweight my whole life.  I've tried every diet on the books, meridia, atkins, low fat, no eating, you name it.  Nothing worked for me.  I'd loose 30, 40 pounds and then be done with the trouble.  It always came back.  Now I have 2 precious gifts from god, my sons Jack and Charlie.  I want to be around for them their whole lives.  I also want to set a good example for them so they don't have to go through the same troubles that I have.  My husband is also slightly overweight, but he goes on atkins and drops 40 lbs with a blink of the eye so his issues are not as dramatic.  Both of us has issues with restraint.  It's not that I eat terrible food (but let me tell you I can!!!), it's that I eat WAY to much of it.  I really hope the lapband will help me with that. It's my sincere hope that I'm able to lose the weight and keep it off for my health and for the wellbeing of my family.
