  2. In my line of work, I often meet potential clients at Starbucks for the first time. Because we've never seen each other, it's always been my habit to describe myself as "short and round with big curly brown hair" and no one has ever missed me. I can always tell if the person I am meeting is a chubster, too, because they giggle at my comment. Today, I was the only female in the place when a heavier lady walked in who was obviously looking for me. I waved her over to the table and she looked at me and said, "I thought you said you were round. Were you trying to be funny? Making fun of fat people isn't a joke.' EHRMAHGHERRRRRRRD!!! I never even thought about it. …

One of my very closest friends of 4 years is now my VERY SERIOUS boyfriend. We had been buddies (yeah...some stuff happened every now and then) and in that time we got to know each other inside and out. Well now, he's mine and I can't put into words how it feels. See he's a "hot guy" who is also down to earth and sweet - even with my personality, I didn't think someone like him would want me. Guess what? Not only does he love me, but he's crazy attentive and goes out of his way for me. He lives out of state right now, but he comes to Houston every other weekend, so it's not so bad. I won't go into the details, there is so much to love and be excited about in this r…

Just wanted to share my progress so far. 41 pounds gone. Exercising 5x a week. The left photo was taken the first day of school this year in August 2013. I weighed 369. The right photo was taken last week because I felt "skinny" for some reason at work. I am now 328. My surgery was 10/2/13. I still have a lot of work to do, but: 1.) my clothes fit better 2.) I'm rediscovering old clothes I haven't worn in 4-5 years 3.) my shoes fit better! 4.) I'm not tired all the time 5.) people notice my weight loss now

Down 109 pounds in 10 months from 306 to 197, feeling and looking better than I have in years. I'm in control of everything in my life, good job, great family life, nice car and home, lots of friends. Why couldn't I control my weight without the sleeve? I feel like I cheated, my life is like a game of 9 pin no tap, I know you only got 9 pins but were gonna give ya a strike anyway. I guess its not so bad i just wish I could have done it on my own.

Things were progressing really well that is until New Year's Eve when I had emergency gallbladder surgery. Although things are fabulous now. Got clearance to return to the gym today by my doc. I've been having rowing machine and stair stepper withdrawals! I cannot believe I actually miss the workouts. It's such an amazing life transformation. Any and all obstacles to over come are completely worth VSG! Pics are from 6mo out 12/26/13

I wanted to tell my story. I had to fight for one year to get my Vertical Sleeve and actually had to change Health Plans to get that approval. I had my surgery February 14th 2011 at Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa with Dr Ramesh Ramanathan. I recommend all of the above, the Fight, Sleeve, the Hospital, The Surgeon. Before I got my surgery I was over 300 pounds. I have lost 90 pounds and have been at a weight plateau, but I know it just takes a little change to lose more weight, meaning I don't watch what I eat. However, I don't go to the salad bar, I eat Protein first and if eating out I take home 1/2 of what is served. That's what the Sleeve does, controls portions. And s…

So my goal for 2013 was to lose a 100 lbs and I did it! I realize that this post is about 12 days late, but I reached my goal in October and everything else is just icing! I've gone from a size 22 to a size 12. I wear a Medium instead of an XXL. To Celebrate I'm going on a cruise in 18 days and I can't believe I'm actually excited to wear a bathing suit! You can see how big my pants were because my best friend and I both fit in them!

I've gone from a size 22W to a size 12. I love how I look, how I feel, how much more physically active I can be. But that's really not the best part! My GP ordered a full panel of blood tests for me recently. He also ordered a Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT), the test that is used to diagnose diabetes and gestational diabetes. As background, I was first diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2007. Since my surgery, I have not had a single high reading. The GTT results I just got back today show NO SIGN OF DIABETES! I can …

My weight loss has been super slow (sleeved Aug 6) and I've plateaued several times, but it seems like i'm finally back on track. Thank god for this surgery and even though I had post op complications (5 days in hospital due to an infection scare), I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Hi, i'm almost six months out. My weight last year was 387 pounds, my weight on the day of surgery was 341 and now it it mid January and my weight this morning was 240 pounds. I have lost just a tad over 100 pounds in this amount of time which is fantastic. But my pulmonologist thinks I have lost too much weight but originally I wanted to get down to 225 but the way I have been losing I almost wonder if I will lose more weight than that. Have you guys started losing weight with a "desired goal" in mind and changed that number up or down after you had some sleeve time? Do you guys think that I have lost enough weight??? Let me know.

I had to do the 6 month supervised diet so 10 months later, the day of surgery i was 203lbs. On January 9, 2014 i weighed in at 135lbs. I have learned to use my tool and know what my limits are and what my slider foods are. I am very aware of what goes in my mouth as opposed to before i had surgery where i ate or drank whatever i wanted. It has to be worth something good for me to eat it. Things i would have done differently: Definitely Exercise more! I didn't start going to the gym un…

Scared and excited cause the one thing I really wanted, I was being blessed with. Today I am 22 weeks and have gained 10 pounds back. I was 30 pounds from my goal weight when I got pregnant b…

I can't believe how fast the time flew. I would like to lose about 35 more pounds to get to 165. I'm starting to think that may be too small for my frame, but I'll see as I get closer and will readjust if necessary. Hope everyone is having a great start to 2014!

  45. I've been on a roll lately, losing weight through the holidays like a champ. I've even progressed from weighing myself EVERY day...to every few days or so is about the norm for me these days. However, to my shock and almost horor, the scale told me I'd lost 10lbs. in 2 or 3 days. Now, had I just started out on this journey, it would be cause for celebration but considering I am almost to my goal, to drop a substantial amount of weight that quickly and without any change in routine would be a bit alarming for me. I stepped off, waited for it to reset on three different occasions...the scale said he same 146.4. I accepted it and vowed to start paying attention to what …
