Today marks my 1st anniversary of my life saving surgery. For me it was life saving I was on the verge of going out. You could say a heart attack just waiting to happen because of poor choices. I have not posted in a long time for I have been doing a little experiment the last 3 months. I got into bad choices on my own I have been trying to deal with WLS on my own. I have the support of my wife and family but wanted to see if I could do it on my own. (I CAN). I will always be in debt for the support that this forum and Myfitness pal and everyone on it has shown and given to me. We are not alone in our fight to be thin use what ever support you can find and never be as…

The day that I got the sleeve, I decided to document my journey with pictures. I took a selfie each morning so I could see the changes happening in my face. The link to the video below is my progress report. YIKES! http://youtu.be/BDB0oBqWyto

Come on! You know everyone has something that they do that is against the "rules"... Mine is espresso. I know that I'm not supposed to have caffine, but I haven't been able to find espresso Beans that are decaffeinated? I don't have one every day and I make it myself so that 1. I'm not spending a lot of money at the coffee shop and 2. I can control what goes in it. I would say I have maybe 3-4 per week. I grind my own beans and make it in my Kurig coffee maker. (mine has a little filter so I can use the Kcups or use my own coffee) I use about 1/8 of a cup of cold 2% milk, a splash of French vanilla coffee creamer, and one package of Equal. It's pure heaven to me! …

I am just over 6 months out. 62 pounds lost and 20 to go. This is my first time to post an "after" pic. :-)

Yesterday was one year since I got banded. It was the best thing I could have ever done to get my life back on track. I have never been so happy, people tell me all the time now that I just look like a happier person and its because I am! I love the choice that I made to get the band and would telling anyone thinking about it to go for it, it can change your life. I still have around 80lbs to my goal and my doctor told me not to be to hung up on getting that this year because my weight loss is going to slow down...he has told me that every appointment and I shock him every time;). I plan on losing the 80lbs and hopefully it will be gone before summer...I have faith it wil…

Hi everyone. I am 12 days out. I have been racking on MFP. Would anyone like to become friends? I find it really helpful to peak at other peoples food diaries. Having someone checking on mine also helps keep me on track. I am Stacy_WLS on myfitnesspal if anyone would like to be buddies on there.

I put my calendar for 2014 up on the kitchen wall today and as I always do...I took a look at my calendar from the year ending to revisit the last 12 months and see how the year went. I was also able to follow my weight loss journey as well because I started my preop diet exactly one year ago tomorrow. How very appropriate to start the new year with a chance to be a new me, right? So...what I was able to see very clearly, was that the weight did not come off in a dramatic fashion. Well...the first 20 or so lbs. came off quickly but that includes the preop diet. After that, I saw because I weighed and kept track every Sunday, what my progress looked like. Most of the ti…

I was sleeved on 10/7/13! I broke down and got a scale on Monday. My starting weight was 261 I now weigh 223! Went from a size 22 to 16! I am amazed! I find myself walking pass mirrors sometimes and be like who is that thinking it's somebody beside or behind me(I'm not crazy). I have more engery my skin is lighter and I am so healthy that I cut my chances of having increase health problems by having this surgery! I see my doctor next Monday to see if I get taken off 2 of the 3 meds I'm on.

So I've always been big on the bottom....huge butt, thunder thighs and cankles. But from the waist up I've been OK. The beginning of the end was when my torso got bigger, then my arms. I could no longer wear certain long sleeved shirts. Then my dangly bracelets got snug and my rings were too tight. Fat wrists?!? Seriously?! That was one of my "last straws". So yesterday, I noticed I could see the individual tendons in my hands (which were chubby butterballs as I watched my preop nurse look for a vein 12 days ago) So I thought I would check it out further. Guess what! My rings slide on and off easily. No ring indentation mark on my finger. Yeah! Looks like I'm g…

I rang in the new year at 197.8lbs! Can't express how much this means to me. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, prosperous, and blessed new year. Here is to a NEW you in 2014.

I had my surgery February 25, 2013. As of this morning I am 111 lbs down. I had a Lapband in 2006 and had it removed Dec 2011. I was pregnant so I gained 120 of the my 200 lost. My highest weight was 343 in 2006. I love to do Jillian Michaels and Tae Bo. Probably should consider surgery for excess skin but I just can't care about it right now. I thought I would never be thin again. What an amazing year I have had and my husband has been my soul support. God love him!!!!!! HW 343 SW 258 CW 159 Height 5'8

I went on my pre op diet July 19tj weighing in at 307. My highest way ever was the summer before at 322. My surgery was July 29th and I weighed in at 297. I was worried that I wouldn't do good with this new life. The first couple weeks I struggled but then I started feeling better. Once the pain was gone I started loving the weight coming off. I am now a little over 4 months out and down 65#. I have had a few stalls and am in the midst of one now but I started comparing pictures because I still don't see it when I look in the mirror. Right now I only have face before amd after but later I will do whole body. I need some more motivation.

Hi guys. I asked my husband to write something for my blog. Like a "WLS from a spouse's point of view" sort of thing. I will preface this by saying, my husband is my rock and I love him to pieces (sure, some days I want to push him off a cliff, but...). This is what he sent me - I wanted to share with this audience because we all have loved ones that drive us crazy at times. I think sometimes we open up in a different way when we put pen to paper as opposed to speaking to one another. What would your spouse or significant other write if you asked them to? I was surprised by what I read here... The wife recently asked me to write a little something for her blog. …

I can't believe it is has been a year since my surgery. My life has changed for the better. I feel so much healthier and energetic. It has been a learning experience. I am so glad I had this done. I started my journey at 261 lbs. I am now at 167. I still have another 25 lbs to my goal which I do not mind it taking longer to reach.

So I haven't been around too much lately. But I am down to 163. 10lbs to go and they are holding on for all they are worth.... Ugh.

Hey guys!! I'm just curious to know how long were you off or did you take off after surgery? I know everyone's recovery is going to be different but I just wanted an idea! I'm in nursing school & I also work. I don't want to have to miss too much time, but I willing need be.

So before I had surgery I was never really self conscious about my weight at 240, ive never jad negative feedback from weight so it didnt bother me, now that im 173lbs im getting a lot more attention, positive attention and its driving me crazy, ive never liked attention to be on me, and now everytime I see someone I know they say how different and good I look, as if I looked horrible before, I know thats not what they mean but still plays on my mind, I didnt get this surgery to look good I got it to be healthy fir myself and my family, its true when they say after surgery it takes a lot of mental strength

So I'm a little over a week post-op and the scale hasn't moved. I'm feeling kind of down about this. I am still quite bloated from the surgery so, I know this affects how much weight loss I am seeing right now. Is it normal to have little to no weight loss right after surgery?

Yesterday, I hit 140lbs for the first time in many years - and because I am still there today, I am claiming it as hitting my target, lol! I have now revised it down by another 5lbs but I think that those will go when I have my cosmetics done in 2014. So I have achieved what I set out to do on 26 April when I was sleeved. Pre and post op, I have lost 83.5lbs, a number I used to look at and never really believe I could lose that. At 5'2", with two comorbidities and others looming, my sleeve was really my last throw of the dice to sort a life long problem and restore my health. But I am surprised that I am not doing the wildly happy dance or calling up everyone I kno…

I need to renew my Passport....they always say that Customs Agents have seen it all, including weight loss....and up till last trip it was not a problem.... The custom agent looked me over head to toe real hard...held up the line...I told him that picture was over 100 pounds ago...he did not say a word, and next thing I know another agent shows up out of no where and looks at my passport...he must have pushed a hidden button or something because he never physically called for the other agent...she just showed up... Long story short, the 2nd agent said "Congratulations" without cracking a smile and walked away.... and the first agent stamped my passport without saying a…

Has anyone heard of the VSG WITH DuODENAL SwITCH? Here's what I read: 1) much more difficult EVER to re-gain weight; 2) you can eat and drink at the same time; and 3) only 50 doctors do this surgery. Sounds like a total dream! Is it too good to be true???

It is the holidays, right? Can someone tell me how I've lost 7 lbs. in a week? I'm only 6 lbs. from my goal, but I'm going to drop another 11lbs and get a slight unfill to stick and stay at 150. Yes, I'll still be technically overweight, but I'm about as small now as I think I want to be. My 14 year old and I are now wearing the same size - 8/9's. Funny thing is, I haven't worn this size since I was 8 or 9 years old, LOL

Hi everyone, sorry I have been away for so long. My weight loss is still progressing although it has slowed down. I have decided to do an off-road race called a Spartan Race in February so I will let you know how that goes. Pants size is down from a 58 to a 40! So, I am very happy but I still have some more weight to get rid of. Here are my numbers. Sleeved: 12/26/12 @ *422 lbs* Now: 12/31/13 @ *252* So, as of this point I am down 170 lbs and have lost 40% of my body weight. I hope everyone is doing great in their journey. GatorDave

As of today, I am officially 'Overweight'. That's not 'Obese', or 'Morbidly Obese'... But 'Overweight'. Take THAT! Christmas and your calorie rich food which I have thus managed to avoid so far... (Large-scale Guinness consumption being thoroughly overlooked) (Before it all went horribly wrong and I fell over in my four inch heels due to an 'unforeseen' crack in the pavement - Classy 'till the last )

It's been a great journey thus far - six 1/2 months after my gastric bypass on May 14. I'm not going to say it's all been easy. Recently I've been through a bump in the road having a bowel obstruction and removal of my gallbladder, but I'm getting stronger each day. I will be running again in no time!! Today I've reached the 100 lb loss and I wanted to share this great news with all of you! I'm so excited. Thank you all for your guidance and support. Love you all. <3

A friend of mine told me I should post this for both the newbies and the veterans to show you all that anything is possible. Many of you know my journey but for those who don't, I was banded January 14th, 2013 and at that time was morbidly obese and suffering terrible pain from joint disease in both my knees and hips. My surgeon had told me six months earlier that at my current weight, I was not a candidate for surgery and I needed to be under 200 lbs. or I was going to wind up in a wheelchair. I was very successful with the band and in six months, had lost enough weight to be considered a surgical candidate. By that time, my hips were so bad that I needed both of…

Excuse the dressing room and my disheveled look. I went to goodwill in hopes to get a couple pair of slacks and a few blouses. I've shrunk out of almost everything in my closet. I tried these two tops on and was floored. The black one was still too snug but I went ahead and got it anyway. It will fit soon.

I got my third fill (total 5cc/10cc band) in August and it brought me to the green zone, I decided against additional fills because it's obvious I am where I should be now. I hit a plateau about 6 weeks ago and the scale didn't budge for nearly a month, then out of nowhere the weight starts coming off again. I've lost 6 lbs. this week, 2 overnight last night alone. I know I'm not eating or getting the amount of Protein I need, so I am going to make a serious effort to do better. I have the feeling that I am now anemic because I am cold almost all of the time. I won't go into any other details, I'm happy about seeing the finish line but I am aware that I have to do be…

I've seen quite a few people around these parts talking about people they know who have lost weight "on their own" while they personally had WLS and I must say, this mindset makes me a bit pissy. Before having VSG, I tried every freaking diet out there. I exercised like a maniac. I tried drugs I knew were potentially harmful to my long term health. I resigned myself to being fat every single time I failed before slapping myself around and trying something new or trying something old again and again. I saw nutritionists, I saw gastro specialists. I considered a hypnotist, but I waved that off as hogwash. (No offense to anyone who tried it, just not my cup of tea.) …

So much for any sort of recovery vacation. Worked 3 hours from home yesterday and went in for 6 hours today. I'm a vet tech, so it's not like I spent the 6 hours sitting at a desk. Walking dogs, holding cats, talking to clients, lab work, getting up prescriptions, and driving. Being self employed (I am partners in a 2person mobile vet practice), if I don't work, the business is closed. I'm feeling great, getting in all my fluids and Protein, so I figured what the heck. Just no lifting - we did have to postpone a nail trim on a very reluctant 80 pound dog since he's going to require major wrestling technique But now I get the next 2 days off to relax and back at it on M…
