Has anyone heard of the VSG WITH DuODENAL SwITCH? Here's what I read: 1) much more difficult EVER to re-gain weight; 2) you can eat and drink at the same time; and 3) only 50 doctors do this surgery.

Sounds like a total dream! Is it too good to be true???

This surgery is open not laparoscopic.

Historically the sleeve was done in preparation for the DS. The sleeve was so effective it became its own standalone surgery.

It is malabsorbtive and restrictive just like RNY.

Actually the DS can be done laparoscopically and is routinely done that way now. There is a whole section of this site dedicated to the DS. You can basically think of it as a combination of VSG and RNY, or RNY with a sleeve rather than a pouch. The surgery used to be done in two stages but is now often done in a single surgery. The stand-alone VSG came about because the first stage of the DS worked so well on its own for many people.

I like the part about not gaining weight back but don't like the added risk factor added to it...

I stand corrected. With it being lap instead of open it sounds better to me.
