Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories

Weight loss surgery success stories. Share your milestones, before and after photos, and non-scale victories.

  1. As of today I am now down 168 lbs! And my BMI has gone from 72 to 48!! I can now buy my bra's from Victory Secret! I have NEVER been able to do that. Not even in high school! And the way I feel is AMAZING!! The first picture was taken around this time last year, the middle I'm not really sure. I believe it's on the picture. And the last is from about a month ago!

Yea. Hit onederlad - and during the holidays. Who'd-a-thunk-it!?! I gotta admit I am not the best patient. I didn't eat much crap before (no soda, not much processed food, etc.) but obviously I ate too much. I don't eat 'low fat' foods per se. I use butter. I put raw sugar and half and half in my coffee. I eat triple creme cheeses and pate (and a lot of sashimi). I eat delicious rich foods, just in very small portions. I guess it's probably why I am a "slow loser"? 48 pounds since surgery in July and many mini stalls along the way, but I would rather still delight in eating and lose more slowly. I don't freak out about it. I figure it's a long journey. If it…

I will be exercising on Thanksgiving morning -- definitely a first for me! Instead of major food prep, I made sure to organize a good workout for tomorrow so I don't miss a day on Turkey Day. Then we'll have our feast, which for me will just be a tad of everything. I'm not dreading it, but I'm also not the least bit obssessed with the food part of the holiday. More worried about getting my work-out in. For me, this is a complete turnaround and a very happy mode to be in. Thank you, Band!

I am seriously considering vsg and finding these boards so helpful! I am curious if anyone had a history of major yo-yo weight loss and gain? Over the last 25 years I have lost and re-gained 80 pounds about every 5 years. :-( I am now at my all time high and know that I could probably lose the weight on my own again but I would be very likely to gain it all back again and I am so tired of this cycle. Any advice? Thanks so much!

Ok all you post op sleevers! How did you spend your day?? Did you take any pics? I'm like the "selfie" queen these days But today for thanksgiving my little family unit did our traditional thanksgiving at the beach. For the last 6 years I cook everything the day before (and they all eat like piggies) then on thanksgiving proper we pack up turkey sandwiches and spend the day giving thanks at the beach Here are some of my pictures, Please show me some of yours!

Relax, relax. She's fine. What I mean by the topic title is that when I was at my son and daughter-in-law's house for Thanksgiving last night, I was talking to her mom and she he knows about the lapband so I had no issues discussing details with her. When she asked how much weight I had lost, I told her it was now around 95 lbs. She said, 'really? Do you realize that's what Debbie weighs'. ...and suddenly I realized...OMG...I've been literally carrying around another person all this time. I know we often say of someone who has lost alot of weight that they're half their size and while I haven't actually lost half my size, I really have lost a whole person. And …

After my consult with the Dr. to start the ball rolling, He started telling me how difficult and risky it is to revise, and about the 30 day liquid diet before surgery that costs 110.00 per week. That is to help him out and to shrink my live, b/c he will need all the help he can. He said that if I don't lose the expected amount of weight, that I will be asked to leave the program. I have to pay 1,500 before the surgery and 5,000 out of pocket after my insurance has paid their share after my surgery.I'm glad …

I cannot wait to see my SIL on turkey day. We have not spoken nor have we seen each other since January. At the time, she was about 35 pounds lighter than me and LOVED to gloat about it in a not so subtle manner. She would give me her clothing rejects with a casual, "These may be too small for you, but you are dieting, right?". She loved to commiserate with me about our mutual attempts to follow whatever diet we were on but loved to point out that her points/calories/units were lower than mine because she was lighter. Our last conversation was her snickering about another overweight acquaintance's failed weigh-in, laughing that she did SO MUCH better and me aski…

I had surgery on 03/29/13, so I'm almost 8 months post op. I started out at 256 lbs. and my goal weight is 150 lbs. Today, I weighed in at 190 lbs. Because of my height and the fact that I have huge boobs (LOL), I really just wanted to fit into Size 12 jeans. I figured that would make me look well proportioned. I wanted to wait to buy clothes, but everything is falling off of me. I caved in today and went to buy a new pair of jeans. I bought a Size 14, but was too embarrassed to try them on in the store. I just tried them on...they're too big!!! Yippee!!!

  20. It's been four years today since my surgery and I can't imagine where'd I'd be without it. The changes, both physically and mentally, are hard to put into words. I suppose Euphoric would be the best description of how I feel...to know that I am never going back to where I was "back then". As I was going on a short run before work this morning, I thought about so many of the fine folks on here that have helped/encouraged/motivated me. I was in the waiting room and he called me into his office so I got up and started walking towards him. He then started walking to me and right in the middle of the waiting room, bent down and whispered in my ear....'I can't say this out loud with a room full of patients, but you look f***ing fantastic'. As I sat there watching my husband and kids climb over I made the decision to have wls. Next summer I am going to take my family back to Burney Falls and I WILL hike those falls with them. That is my goal! I don't know why I didn't think of it before but that just feels like coming to full circle. So, its a bit early for a true "success story," since I just had surgery on the 21st... but... over the last few years, every time I've dieted, I've stalled, gotten frustrated, and given up at 300 pounds. Each time I gained more weight back, of course. I started the journey at 377lbs in May. I was 303 on my surgery date. This morning, I left the threes forever! I am officially in Twoderville and plan on staying for awhile... until I get to the promised land: Onederland!

My doc suggested taking it only every other day. He said to keep doing exactly what I'm doing and I'll see him again in three months. Tomorrow I have my six month required appointment with the nutritionist. Should be quick - I have no questions. :-) Hey DL! I love the new me!

Posting this to inspire anyone surfing the topics on this site. One year ago, I was 267 lbs. and in a very bad place physically and emotionally. I had the lapband surgery in January because I had no other choice. My mobility was in jeopardy, I was in tremendous joint pain, and my world was shrinking because of it. There was way more that I couldn't do rather than what I could do. The big issues have been addressed in that I had the joint replacement surgery I needed once I got below 200 lbs. I've also noted that I'm no longer in fear of things like airplane seats, chairs with arms, theater seats, etc. Well...last night I went to dinner and we were taken to a boot…

  41. Hello Everyone. I thought it might be a good time to post a before and after picture of my journey so far. I started my 3 week liquid diet on May 23, 2013, had my surgery on May 12, 2013. My starting weight was 360 pounds and as of today I am down to 263 pounds. For anyone who is struggling it can be done. I still have another 63 pounds to go before I hit my goal of 200 pounds. I know I have many challenges ahead but I now have the confidence to meet them head on. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on my journey so far.

Hi All, Today is 6 months exactly since I had lap band surgery. It was the greatest decision I've ever made. I'm 24 years old and 6'2. 2 weeks before pre op I was 330 lbs. Today I'm proud to say I weigh 247 lbs totally 83 lbs lost so far. My goal weight is 210 lbs and I hope to be there by May. There's no greater feeling then making the decision to become healthier. I went from being lazy to working out 5 days a week and playing basketball one night a week. There's no better motivation then seeing the scale continue to go down. Hopefully 6 months from today I can say I'm at my goal!

I hate when people say, "Why surgery? You can lose weight on your own." I hate when people say, "Your taking the easy way out." I hate it when people say, "You were never "Fat" just big bone." B.S. when people see you trying to better yourself, they find ways to keep you down because you being down keep them up. I don't care what people have to say, I'm doing me. There are people already not in my circle anymore, and I haven't even had my surgery yet. Imagine when I do, its really gonna ache them. Oh well, I know now who's for me and not against me.
