Negative Mother In Law! Grr

Been married a long time 29 yrs and mother in law came over yesterday to visit and when my husband went out the room to chat to his dad, she had a whole lot of negative stuff to say about my surgery even though I'm 6 months out.

She said she thinks people who lost a lot of weight look really old and cited a couple of examples here in the uk both of whom are on their 70's and I'm still in my 40's. She went in and on that she's worried about me and how I won't be able to stop losing weight and that I will look horrible skinny and old.. not forgetting the old she really laboured that point knowing that looking good is important to me. Jeez this woman is such a cow! I'm sure she preferred me when I was big and fat!

Maybe you were less of a threat to her then.

My FIL is the same way. Loves to call me, my husband, BIL and SIL "so big." When we lose weight, he professes to be "so worried" about us.

This is a way some people feel superior. Eff them. :D

My future MIL has a lot of reasons to dislike me, my weight is only one item on the list. When I was obese she'd say to my fiance that this meant I was lazy and ugly and not wife material. Now she tells him as soon as I get skinny I'll leave him for someone better. I just can't win. Thankfully she doesn't live in the US, and won't be at the wedding
