I am at a stall ,,, sad face,,, I was kicking but losing left an right and then I started purée and bam, haven't lost in days! Other than that doing good, still confused on how puréed I need to meek things, and questioning the difference between puréed chicken and shredded chicken once they are both chewed! Lol! My wounds are almost gone and I'm down 32 lbs since two week post op! I'm teetering between 200 and 199. I kinda knew I would stall here! Can't wait to start loosing again, it kinda sucks!

I have said from the beginning, when I lost 200 pounds I wanted a major reward for all my hard work. I've actually lost over 230 pounds now and finally found my reward to myself. A ring. I have wanted a Peridot ring forever. Plus, I feel like every time I look down at my ring, it's reminder not only how far I've come but to stay on track so I never go back to that miserable state again. So, my question is, what's your reward? It doesn't matter how big or small it is. I've had many other small ones along the way and I've love to hear yours. What do you reward yourself with instead of food? (btw, it looks MUCH prettier in person lol)

  4. Hi everyone, and wow I did not know verticalsleevetalk turned into bariatricpal! I haven't been online in ages because I've been so busy in "real life" with work and school. I was always in denial, and still am, about my weight loss. I always put on clothes and ran off without even looking in the mirror so I rely on pictures to remind myself of what I used to look like. I am still wearing clothes that I did at my heaviest but instead of being so tight my skin looks red when I take them off - they are much looser and I can pull them off without unzipping LOL. Here is my first progress - 71 pounds lost since August 15th. I took this second photo a week ago -

Hi everyone! I am only 2 months out, but am very pleased so far. At age 54, I knew I must not only change my eating habits, but completely change my lifestyle. So....next week we are going to Eilat for a few days (I live in Israel). In the past, I would spend days searching out the best restaurants and plan our vacations around where will be eating. Now, I booked at a hotel that is right on the coral reef and has bicycles for the guests, and we will be spending our time cycling and snorkeling. I don't know (or care) where we will be eating. For me, after a lifetime of food addiction, that's what I call FREEDOM!!!!

Tonight my hubby fell asleep in his lazyboy about an hour after I got home from work. So I went shopping. Three hours, a coat, two sweaters, a blouse, a complete holiday outfit, and two bras later I got home to him still in his chair. :-) Wait till he sees the credit card bill. That'll teach him to doze off and leave me bored w/nothing to do! Lol 12P's and medium tops! And I'm no longer a D-cup - I've gone from a 44D to a 38C. I really needed a better fitting bra! :-)

3 years ago next week I started this journey... I have no idea where the time went but I had the surgery, Paid my dues for 22 months and reached my goal last December! The last ten months have been easier then I expected as my band is my governor! It doesn't allow me to over eat. I still do my part .. Eat small Portions, Drink Water, mentally track my calories, weigh myself daily and if I go up 3 lbs I get strict and lose it in a few days. With my help The band has changed my life! I am a thin person for the first time in my adult life!

  14. This is what happened to me this week, a very nice surprise. Remember I was someone who did not work out before, but I wanted to give 100% to making my weight lose surgery a success. Who in the world would have ever thought this would have been me getting the award, but I did it. This is the write up and picture from the gym. P.S. I started with two days a week for 30 minutes with the trainer and it was a killer. Now I go to the trainer three days a week, do 30 minutes on the treadmill before hand then 45 minutes with the trainer. Then go two days a week to the gym over at the military base and work out by myself. -------------------------------------------------------…

Do any of y'all - not quite at goal- find it difficult to buy clothing?? I've been shopping like crazy, but buying nothing. I finally cleaned out my closet last week (which was much more emotional than I thought it'd be), and I now have a grand total of 3 short sleeve shirts, one long sleeve shirt, and one jean (which is either being worn or washed). Yesterday my husband brought me shopping and forced- yes, FORCED (LOL) me to buy clothing. I bought a total of 4 pieces of clothing- which somehow it still messed with my head. (One being a flattering pencil skirt from The Limited in size 12- 12!! I've never in my life seen that size in my closet!) I guess at size 12, I s…

Hi Everyone, I am celebrating year 5 of having a very successful weight loss surgery! I was 63 when I had sleeve surgery done, so it is never too late to have weight loss surgery!!!! This was very best choice I have ever made in my life. I had my Weight Loss Surgery in Oct 2008. After a lot of investigating and considering all the doctors and places I could have my surgery. I made the choice to have Dr. Aceves in Mexicalli Mexico do my surgery. I was a self-pay, and believe me I really checked out every option there was. I was an older person and I really took my time to figure out what was best for me. I talked to a lot of different people who had already had w…

Well I am so excited to report that I am now 3# away from being half way back to my goal weight that I maintained for several years before my band kinked and I had to have my port removed!! Finding that sweet spot again has been the key to me getting back to 155# . I have to say that I really had forgot how much the band helped me to reach my goal and how it kept me from being hungry.

Today is it" My 6 month Baniversary. Six months ago, I anxiously and somewhat reluctantly went into to surgery for lapband. I knew my surgeons well as I have worked with them both in the hospital setting and had extreme confidence in them. So that wasnt even an issue. But, I had read the reviews of lapband and had started having my doubts about it (I hadnt found this site as of yet). Anyway, my weight problem was becomng something I had to deal with. My abdomen was large and I was having trouble tieing my shoes, I was getting out of breath easily and I was ashamed of my own shadow. I had just bought my 1st pair of size 22 jeans. Ugh. Also, my mother died 20 year…

In the beginning, I had no choice but to follow a standard diet plan....count calories, measure portions, just as I did before the surgery....because the band was simply installed...not doing anything for me, yet. As the band gets adjusted, (along with adjusting my own psychie) the band then began to take control and then I had to determine for myself what is tolerable or not to eat..... Once that happened...Green Zone....and portions were controlled and held to a minimum automatically, and my eating has become so little per day, it was my best interest to choose the healthiest foods I can, not wasting the limited food intake on garbage.... Also, when that phase began…

I haven't been on here in a long time. I seemed to have gotten used to life with the band....which is a good thing! One year ago today, I had my lap band surgery. I went from 241.3 pounds to 153 pounds! My BMI went from over 38 to 24.5. I am considered a normal weight. I am now between a size 8 and a 10. My husband and I have been together for 10 years and he has never seen me this small. And I still haven't had a fill!! All this from just having the band put it! I am feeling great and couldn't be happier. Actually just had a family photo shoot and love the pictures! LIFE IS WONDERFUL!!

  26. I had surgery 14 May 2013 at 98 kg. I expect to be 68 kg within the next week and my 6-month anniversary is 14 Nov, also this week. That will put me 30 kg down (66 lb) and exactly at 70% of excess weight lost. This was my surgeon's goal as it puts me at the very top of the Overweight range, rather than obese. Personally, I want to get to the middle of the healthy range if I can, which means losing another 18 kg or so. But I already feel like a success. How did I do it? I eat around 800 calories a day, get at least 40g Protein, and try to stay under 100g carbs. I'm not fanatical about the calories or carbs. I usually eat 50g of a meat for lunch and dinner every day, alo…

When I started my weight loss journey 3 years ago I wore a size 12 ring, when it fit! I was over 420 pounds, in 2 years I lost 170 pounds and maintained for 1 year than in July got banded. I have now lost over 200 pounds. Last weekend went shopping with a friend and we were looking at jewelry the clerk insisted I try a ring on, much to my amazement it fit! She said it was a size 7, well I knew a 8 fit but could it be. I than tried on a dozen or more rings all were size 7's!! OMG the first ring I ever owned at age 11 was a 10, I have never worn a size 7 ever! Well my friend said well Susan you said you wanted to wear a single digit size and I laughed and said I didn'…

  34. Miss Pearlie has done an outstanding job in such a short amount of time. I've just had the most romantic weekend and I'm going on pure adrenaline and butterflies today since I only slept for 2 hours last night. Anyway...I can wear the prettiest clothes and it's fun coming up with new combinations to wear them, so for the first time in a very long time I treated myself to a shopping spree on Saturday morning. I came back with clothes that I think I love more than any I've ever had and I can't wait to wear them - something I haven't felt since planning for the first day of school during senior high. And - a guy that I've known for 4 years is looking like he's going to …

  38. Okay it's 199, but the first time I have seen a number lower than 200 in like 25 years. In the past I would get down to the 220s then start back up. So that's 58 pounds in 5.5 months. Granted most of that was in the beginning, and my weight loss has slowed to about a pound a week. But at least that's in the right direction. Oh, and off all diabetes and high blood pressure meds. That was my original goal. Now my goal is WORLD DOMINATION! No, seriously, now my goal is 25 more pounds to get to "normal."

I'm only 6 weeks out and just came home from a Disney Cruise. I was quite nervous about the food, but I explained to the waiter what I've been through and he understood why I was only eating a few bites of my entree. I never ordered the appetizers or salads. At first I missed not being able to eat the good food, but I felt so much better about myself afterwards! I made this cruise more about the experience with my husband and children then about the food. I will be able to weigh myself when I get home to see how I did! I'm nervous just a tad to see if I lost! Here is to many more cruise experiences rather than the food experience!!

I had my sleeve surgery on 7/24/13. I started out with a 48 jeans and 50 slacks. I went to Walmart today to buy some new sleeping pants. I thought I would get an XL. So I took one of those and a Large in the dressing room. I can't believe that the XL was way too big. So now I am in large pants or 38 jeans. This is so amazing and I feel so good. I started getting rid of all of the drugs that I no longer use. My medicine closet is now a shoe box with lots of room to spare. I also found out that my CPAP pressure is reduced from 13 to 6 the tech told me that I would most likely be taken off that to.
