Now that I've lost over 43 lbs I hear all the time how much I look like my daughter. Best compliment ever! The other day someone asked if we were sisters! (Yeah right) lol...

I don't frequent the board enough there are so many wonderful stories, of success, so figured I'd share mine.. I had the operation on march 12th of this year, started at 347lbs pre op, now I'm 224lbs, and feel great.. My ideal weight is 190lbs but i want 215 or so.. to hit that in under a year is amazing.. It's been amazing, not much as a single issue, haven't even had any nausea since the first time I woke up from my surgery.. Eating has been a learning experience, since I was a big eater, and enjoyed food.. Now I cherish a ice cream sandwich every now and then.. I have bat loads more energy, and my job has benefited from my productivity.. I read a lot of treads on her…

I would never have thought that after my weight loss surgery that I would be down 93 pounds from the day of surgery on July 24, 2013. Even with stalls I have lost this much weight. Especially when this all happened while going through Thanksgiving and Christmas. I kept myself on the straight and narrow with no problems at all. I am so pumped, just went to Walmart and bought two pair of 36 32 jeans. Hard to belive considering that I was wearing 50 pants when I started and I had to lay on the bed to fasten them. Now this is not a problem and I am really needing to score some new shirts as well.

I have always been pretty active, but as my weight goes up I do less and less. I really wanted to incorporate exercise as quickly as possible after surgery. My post op meeting they cleared me for all cardio ( let pain be my guide). Yesterday I just walked on the treadmill,. Today I brought. A book to read on the treadmill, but ended up watching Rachael Ray and decided to run during the commercials. It felt great. I'm really proud of myself . How quickly has everyone else gotten back to exercise?

I'm staying in a hotel in Seattle with my mom and sisters for a girls night out. We've shopped, eaten out, and have had a great time! What really made me feel good we're all the NSV's one right after the other! First, I brought PJ's that didn't fit me last month, and they fit perfectly now, size xxl! Second, I bought my first pair of size 16w jeans at Macy's - all the way down from a size 26-28. Third- I went to Old Navy and I was able to fit in size Xxl or Xl depending on fit- I've never been able to shop the store before for clothes- just jewellery and dog toys. I went a little nuts in the clearance section because I needed replacement clothes for the ones I donate…

  18. My husband's work has had a Christmas party every year for the last 10 years or so, and I have always been jealous of the wives who could wear the pretty holiday clothes. I'd put on the best thing I had and hide in the corner, not willing to spend the money on something that I knew wouldn't live up to the other outfits. But this year I had the time of my life shopping with my friends and picking out THE DRESS! I'm not at goal yet, but just being able to dress with confidence was amazing!

At my last doc appt, I weighed 178 , and I'm down to a size 14, and even those jeans are getting baggy!! I remember being so scared that this wouldn't work for me, so I would get on here and find comfort while reading others success stories. So I have had a really bad year. House related: new water tank , new dryer, new fridge, new stove. But hey I can use the oven now. My daughter totaled her car. My husband had someone slam into the back end of his truck while pulling out of parking lot. I rear ended a lady who just stopped because across that was closed was open and she wanted to go that way. So I hit right into her. So when it was time for my Lapband I can promise you I was scared to death. So that went well and am on 8 weeks and lost 45 pounds. I now have pain in my arm and shoulder with numb fingers. The all or nothing thinking is my biggest foe. Tonight, after a hard, kinda awful day at work I got stuck in the worst traffic (rush hour, holiday, etc). I was so thirsty. I started thinking about how my job lends itself to self abuse. I never stop to pee. I inhale my food. I run from one emergency to another. I listen to and fix other peoples problems ALL DAMN day. It's my job. I signed up for it. But I'm sitting in traffic, thinking about how I think maybe a career change is in order- how little I prioritize time, energy for myself and I start to think how thirsty I am. And how Arby's is just RIGHT there. And how one coke wouldn't hurt , and hell, while I'm…

Last year on this date I had Lapband surgery with plication and a hernia repaired. It was something I needed to do as I literally weighed double the amount that I was supposed to. I didn't have medical issues (high bp, etc) but I knew it was just a matter of time that my health was going to start to decline. I felt worse each day, so I decided surgery would be the best way to save me from myself. And a few days after surgery, I did have a complete melt down of "WTF have I done", but looking bad I chalk that up to the pain and lack of sleep. But the pain did go away and I started getting some of the best sleep I had gotten in years. AND the weight started coming of…

Had my surgery in August of 2012, start weight was 387. Now I weight 230-235 and couldn't be happier. It was easy and suggest to anyone concerned about side effects to ask others who have had the surgery because all have different stories. I had the gastric sleeve by Dr. Lavin at Surgical Specialist and the pre-surgery procedures to get done for mainly insurance purposes were drawn out. Once the sleep apnea, nutritionist, psychiatrist, doctor visits, blood work, etc., was done and surgery completed it was a matter of time and all weight just comes off. I do not feel I was a normal person with the procedure from talking to others, I do not get hungry! The doctor told…

  34. My surgery was on 12/17/12. I want to preface this by saying that everyone’s journey and way of living and eating after surgery is a personal choice, and no way is wrong if you are happy and continuing to lose weight in a healthy manner. This is just my experience in the year since surgery. Weight loss is not linear. Throughout this first year I lost in a stair-step pattern. It was literally stall 2-3 weeks, lose 1 week. I had to learn that if I was doing everything right (eating at a deficit), it would eventually come off- and it did! LOG YOUR FOOD! I use MyFitnessPal every single day. It is responsible for 99% of my success up to this point. I started at app…

Band removed and of course gained everything back over next six months. New surgeon, new hospital, new band. It's been a year and a half and close to 160 again. But for a year I hate very unhealthy, too many chips and ice cream. You know, all the things you're not supposed to eat. I maintained a steady 180 and just kind of accepted that. This summer I went dairy free and dropped 16 lbs in three months. I don't yo yo diet any more. My goal is 150. The dairy free has been great My daughter is a bander also. 100…

Today I am in size 16 jeans and large or xl tops depending on where I go. This has not been an easy journey and I have fought for every pound. I was pregnant in july and we lost it in september and I have not lost a pound since! I am working so hard to get it going again but it just hasnt happened yet. I know I am not done losing yet! Hoping to get to my goal by May of 165! If i could just get below 230 I think I could do it! Hope everyone has a great christmas!

Finally broke down and bought new jeans. This week is my three month mark since surgery. Even my surgeon said it was time for new pants. Lol. I had my "old man fat jeans" that I wore until a few weeks after surgery. Then pulled out two pairs that were the next size down. That's all I had. I received my new size 48 mens last night. They are on top, oldest ones are on bottom. I NEVER got excited about clothes before.

(And I don't just mean your way of eating, your habits), I mean do you see people the same way? Do you hang out or socialize with the same people? Do you like to do the same things still? Do you ever find yourself looking at an obese person and thinking "oh my gosh, he/she is so huge! They should do something about that!" Do you find yourself discriminating against other big people? This week will mark 6 months since I had VSG surgery. It’s been a strange and wonderful 6 months in a lot of ways. The biggest factor that finally got me on the WLS track was my mobility. I blew out my left knee many years ago (twice, actually) and have had several surgeries. My leg is permanently bent from arthritis, and at 320 lbs I limped very badly and my mobility was extremely limited. Eventually, my right knee began to break down & last year my orthopedic surgeon told me that we needed to plan on double knee replacement surgery for this year. I knew that the longer I could hold that off, the better it would be, so I started looking into WLS instead. My o…
