I was shopping at a local boutique this morning and decided to try a few dresses for some upcoming parties & showers. I pointed to one "that's cute." The woman grabbed me a small. "Um, size what?? For who?? Me??" "I'll get you a medium, but you are definitely a small." ....Yeah lady, you're on crack ..... And I fit and bought the size small dress. Holy s#*t!

I went to the doctor today because I'm sick (clearly NOT the NSV) and I had forgotten to take my blood pressure meds prior to leaving. I've been on meds for my bp since I was 18 years old, so almost 14 years. A lot of the time, even with the meds, my bp was borderline high. Well today, without my meds, my bp was 114/62! Since I'm an RN and I work in a cardiovascular surgery ICU, I know how important it is to keep your bp in check. I'm really excited to follow up with my primary doctor in a couple weeks so she can see how well I'm doing. I was sad I had to see another doc today, but the office staff were all just amazed at my progress! Thank you lap band!!

Finally hit that 50 pound mark this morning! I had my lap band surgery at the end of July. Thought I would share my first set of progress pics. Can you tell a difference? I still have lots to lose, but happy about this start. (And sorry in advance, not brave enough yet to share full body with face.)

Never thought I'd hear that. He's been very supportive through all of this. I hit goal and lost another 5 lbs. I'm 5'6" and 155 lbs. my size 10 jeans are getting a little baggy. I'm happy where I'm at and am going to try to stop losing. But that was a very unexpected compliment for sure. Think that counts as a NSV.

I keep looking at my new bathing suit hanging there in the bathroom and I can't believe I fit into it. So I decided to dig through some of my older clothes and found the suit I bought about 8 months ago...and I had already gone down two sizes when I bought it. I know we post before and after pics but I thought this was also a good way to show another type of before and after. Or should I say before and during as my journey is not yet complete.

So grateful for the amazing tool I've been given! I've felt pretty down today about my stall in weight loss but I did a comparison pic and it reminded me how far I've really come. 103 pounds gone forever!

Im within 10lbs of my "new goal weight" casue i blew the original goal weight out of the Water. IM actually starting to get to skinny. Several people have mentioned it to me. Im in a 33" ( from a 52-54) waist and large shirt ( from a 4xl ). Is it as simple as adding calories? I still find it hard to eat what i eat just cause of the fact that im truly still never hungary and i eat only casue i have to. Any sugestions??? Thank you Christian

Once a month I go buy this bag of dog food for my fur babies. It's heavy for me to handle and I always struggle with it a little bit. It is a 30 pound bag of dog food. That is how much weight I've lost so far. I can't believe I was carrying that around on my body. And to think I need to lose about 3 more of those. Wow. LapBand. Best. Decision. Ever.

I'm truthfully amazed, thankful to my surgeon and humbled by this experience. Back in April of 2013 I started at 412lbs. Had surgery June 24th. Now here we r almost 200 lbs lighter in 9 months. 52 inch waist to 33. 4xl t shirt to large. Just amazing. I used to love riding motorcycles so I went out and bought a new one for when the weather gets better. I go to the gym 6 days per week and I just always remember my surgeons words. "I've given u the tool. Now take advantage of it!!" I won't forget that advise from Dr Jiser in Chelmsford MA. Thank u

Before this journey, I had lots of guilt..... Guilt over everything I ate. Guilt for letting myself weigh up to 327 pounds. Guilt for being a couch potato. Guilt over not dieting. Guilt over "cheating" on a diet. Guilt for having my children potentially lose their mother over obesity related health issues. I decided to forgive myself when I went through this transformation..... this life changing process. I still sometimes experience guilt, but for a completely different reason..... Whenever I hear that "I don't want to evercise today," GUILT kicks my butt out the door!!!!!

It's been approximately 1 1/2 months since my surgery. I know that it's early but I haven't lost any weight in the last week and a half. It's frustrating because I have been watching my diet and I started taking hot yoga classes. I take 90 minute classes 3 times a week. I'm going to take my measurements next week so hopefully I see some results there. If you have any suggestions or ideas that might help, let me know! We'll today is a major milestone for me. For the second time in my lifetime I have lost 127 pounds. The first time was when I turned 40, I lost a total of 127 pounds on the Body for Life Program. Today 9 months after my lapband surgery I have lost another 127 pounds. Last time I gained it all back plus another 20. Here is why I know this will never happen to me again. The first time I lost all the weight, I thought that when I lost the weight I could stop and go back to the way I was before. Big mistake. I have now learned that changing the way you live is for life. Weight management is for life and we need to focus more on the change in lifestyle than just counting th…

So December 2012 I bought myself a beautiful ring for Christmas. It was a size 9.25. I was banded 5/30/2013 and recently reached my green zone. My ring was feeling loose so when I took it in for inspection I asked to have it resized. I now have a 7.5 ring finger. I know it's not much but I felt awesome.

My fist appt with surgeon was December 5 and that was my consultation! I'm barely 40 BMI and no co-morbidly health problems except high cholesterol, I had a sleep study which it was negative because I didn't have any signs of sleep apnea and the reason why I didn't have any signs is because I didn't sleep all night! And the tech guy knew this! But the nurse from my surgeon send me to get all the pre-op test any ways. She said that I still qualify for WLS but I'm very NERVOUS of getting denied! I had my blood work done in December and my EKG test today and made and appt for my ultrasound for next Monday and I will call tomorrow for my NUT. and my psych evaluation appt. Eve…

Had my visit with my PCP today.....first a little background. I see my PCP every 4 months...used to be every 3 months, preceded by complete lab workup 1 week prior to each visit, for the last 5-6 years!!! ...reason was, we were desperately trying to get all my medical issues under control...everything was completely out of whack...and each visit he would adjust or change all my medications trying to get thing in balance...when one thing was brought under control, another thing would go off the scale...all the while my Diabetes was getting worse and worse....while all this was going on, Cardiac issues were discovered and I had to undergo cardiac surgery... Seemed like …

So I hit my first goal of being under 200 lbs. yesterday. This is the least I've weighed in a very long time. Now just 60lbs to go! I had my surgery Oct. 21st and am so happy with how much better I feel already. This past week I was able to add some jogging into my walk without my joints killings afterward. My goal is to run my first 5K by the end of the year and at this rate I think I might just achieve that goal. I can honest admit that I am dying for a glass of wine or an Oreo, but the little sacrifices are so worth it.

My friend is renewing her vows and asked me to send her a pic from my wedding. So I did. No big deal really until I actually looked at the pic and realized that even though I am 7 pounds from weighing the same as I did in 2000 on my wedding day, I am thinner and leaner than I was. It has always been my goal to lol at least as good as I did that wonderful day. I never thought after having two kids I would be looking better. Man do I love my band.

I had my surgery middle of august 2013. I just want to check with others to see the amount that they can hold. for example I just fixed my lunch. I made a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. I ate the entire thing. I am full. I did NOT eat anything else or drink anything. some days I can only eat half a sandwich..others the whole thing. I am still losing weight. SLOWLY...BUT SURELY.

The below picture is what I looked like at my highest of 418 and where I am as of last night at 219. I showed this picture to my 3 year old daughter last night and asked her who the guy on the left is. Naturally she said "thats daddy". I asked her who is the guy on the right and she said "I dunno who is it?" She genuinely did not recognize that as me. Folks that right there is why I had this surgery. I did not want my daughter to know the fat unhealthy me. And guess what I accomplished it. This was a huge win for me in this journey and it mad me very happy.

I met my goal weight of 145 in August 2013, almost 1 year after surgery. Today, I'm happy to report a healthy weight of 132 lbs. I'm living life at 13 lbs below goal. I truly love my Lapband, and I'm super thankful to be 113 lbs lighter in a size 2. This is my before and after picture, the one on the left is pre surgery at 245 lbs and the one on the right is at goal of 145lbs. This pic is me at 132 lbs.

is anyone using this app?? I've been using it daily and I would like to connect with more friends (especially those with "open diaries") so that I can get a better idea of what everyone else is eating... I keep my diary open as well. I had my surgery 12/30/13 and i'm re-learning to eat all over again....still sounds funny to me. thank you, ellie

I have officially lost 70 lbs!! I am very happy. While I still have a ways to go to goal, I have to acknowledge how far I have come. I had come to a crossroads in my life where it was do or die. I made the choice to do. I get to live my life now, I mean really LIVE. (not just exist) Half this loss was done on my own. (-33lbs pre op) But without the sleeve I probably would have failed by now. I know the only way I have come to this point is because I had the surgery. It has been one of the best decisions of my life. Now I look forward to more milestones.. I may be a bit of a slow loser, but I WILL get to where I need to be.

Good Morning everyone, I have a morning ritual where I wake up, put the dog out, grab my coffee, and then strip down to nothing including removing my wedding rings and I weigh myself. I am a slave to my scale. But, the important thing to me this morning is.......drum roll please........I am in onederland! I have reached 199lbs. I started this journey November, 2012 at 289 lbs when I asked my PCP about Weight Loss Surgery. I met my bariatrics team in December of 2012. While jumping through all of the hoops for my insurance I was able to lose 23 pounds prior to my pre-op diet. During the pre-op 2 week liquid diet I lost an additional 15 lbs. I was sleeved Augu…

At this time last year I was two pounds shy of 250 pounds. I had spent 10+ years trying countless diets and dedicated myself to these little spurts of "exercise dedication". The diets never lasted and I never remained dedicated. Healthy foods were not a problem, I love all healthy foods; exercise wasn't a problem, I used to be certified as an aerobic instructor and weight trainer. The problem was that I loved ALL foods and I loved them in COPIOUS quantities. Another problem was time. Between a full time job as a high school English teacher, grading papers (115 students multiplied by x amount of assignments/ essays...yikes!); sponsoring the dance team (taking up 3 evenings…

Well, 9 month check today and my dietician declared me to be no longer overweight - I am now officially NORMAL! Hooray! I started as morbidly obese (at a BMI of 41, too much for a 5'2" tiddler), then I was obese, then overweight - and finally normal... Such a small word, what a big impact :-)))))))

This time a year ago, I was at the hospital waiting to go into surgery to get the lapband. What a mess I was that day. Full of doubt and fear....what was I doing to myself, and worse yet, what if I wasn't successful? I wasn't doing this to look better, I was doing it because I was heading towards losing the ability to walk. How scary is that?? I wasn't worried about walking in pain...I was worried that I wouldn't be able to walk at all. I also loved to eat. Just loved it...and loved to eat as much as I could...which is why I was morbidly obese. My life was focused on food so I couldn't imagine what my life would be if food wasn't front and center. I ate out alot…

Hello fellow Bandsters. This is my one year update one day late. I was banded January 21st, 2013. I was 326 pounds. I went to the surgeon today and my official weight is 235. 91 pounds in a year makes me very happy. Not only was it my Bandiverary but I had a job interview and nailed it. I will be starting work Jan 27th or Feb 3rd just waiting for the call. I have been on disability since Jan 2012 and am more then ready to get back in the work force. I am 47 years old and feel I am in better shape then I have been since my late 20's. My journey has been complication free. I wish all banded would have it as easy as I have. That is not to say I haven't had to do the work bec…

NSV at almost one year out. I have ribs! HW: 263 CW: 145

When I weighed today I was 164 pounds! I weighed 220 pounds starting out and I am 5'2", and so my BMI was 40.23. I was in the "morbidly obese" category. I am so happy to say that my BMI is now 29.99! I am still overweight, but no longer obese. Was anyone else this happy to be overweight??? LOL! I feel kind of crazy being this happy, but I am down to a number that I haven't seen since I was 16 or 17 years old! Can't wait to be in the "normal" range! I am only 14 pounds til my first weight loss goal of 150. It is so weird being where I am, though. I never could see myself losing the weight before surgery. I just didn't feel like it was possible and I thought I wo…

I had my annual check up today and filled my OB/Gyn in on my surgery details. (Still haven't even told my PCP) She was so excited and thought what I did was great, and offered to arrange for any followup bloodwork I needed. She wanted the name of my surgeon in Mexico because she has several other patients who's insurance doesn't cover WLS. I forwarded all my records from OCC so she'd have all the info for future reference.

I am 9 months out. I am doing great. My weight loss has been slow and is slowing down. I know how I should be eating as well as how much but I suddenly feel so lost about it this week. I dont know why this is. Would anyone who is a year out, be able to post pics of their meals?? Like, post a picture of your plate with the food on it, or your bowls of soup or salad - anything. This would be so helpful to me. Even if you can post links to other pics, I dont care. Thank you!!!!

I just had the scariest NSV yesterday coming home from a business trip - i was stopped in customs and in checking my passport they guy says this doesn't look anything like you? I need another form of a picture ID to compare, so i give him my drivers license, and he says - well this looks like her but still not you?? I panicked and just said " I started exercising? " lol there were tons of people around and i really didn't want to get into the details of my WLS?? So he just looked at me funny and said good job and get new pictures. It was the best feeling although those guys really have no sense of humor so it was a little nerve wracking as well. Anyway YAY to my s…
