Hey Sleeve Family, Thought it was time I give an update. Today marks my 4th month Surgiversary! I'm down 55 pounds! Feeling good! Much lighter feeling on my feet! Had a bad episode of acid reflux, doctor finally prescribed Nexium for it! I feel that I can really do this! I can really get down another 50+ pounds! The sleeve has empowered me! I no longer feel imprisoned by excess weight! I actually like what I see in the mirror now! The first few weeks were challenging! Nothing tasted right! I was very emotional at times! But I knew I made the right decision, cause my weight was falling off! I need to exercise more now...just been walking, but that's not mo…

Its been quite a while since I've been here, but thought an update might be appropriate. My "after" picture shown here is actually around 8-10 lbs heavier than I am right now. I'm still losing, but very slowly at this point. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them, but be prepared for some brutal honesty that may not jive with other experiences and perspectives.

I just had my surgery on March 11th and I can't make the support groups that my surgeon recommended because my kids have evening activities. Does anybody have any recommendations for me? Also, on a side note, today is the first day I get to go back to the gym, any ideas on exercises I can do? They still told me to not do anything that involves the stomach, core muscles or back for 2 more weeks.

  4. Woo hoo!!! Today is my one year surgery-versary and I don't think I could be any happier! I am down 141 pounds total and around 106 or so from my surgery one year ago today. This has been one of the best decisions of my life and I would do it all over again tomorrow if I needed to. My surgery was such a success that my sister followed suit and had a sleeve done in November of this last year. She is doing great as well. It is REALLY STRANGE to me for someone to call me "skinny". I've had many people tell me that I've lost enough and really should stop losing but I am technically still obese and I refuse to stay obese! I still have a little ways to go and I know this …

Hello everyone! I officially hit the 3 month post op mark the other day and wanted to share a photo! On March 17th (3 month anniversary), I weighed and had lost exactly 60 lbs, which I was thrilled with! Clothes are falling off (amazing) and I have gone from a size 22 and am now wearing size 14!!! I think it's been 6 years since I have been able to wear this size and luckily I saved nice jeans and all of my business suits from the Limited that I couldn't handle getting rid of so I now have a good selection of clothes for awhile! I knew they would come in handy one day! It feels like years ago that I had the surgery... Can't believe it's only been 3 months! To anyone o…

So as of stepping on the scale yesterday I am now half the man I use to be.. Literally... I was at one point in my life at 418 pounds. Just before surgery I was at 362. Yesterday I weighed in at 209 so 153 pounds gone since surgery and 209 overall. Talk about feeling like an entirely different person! I am still loosing weight at this point at a rate of 1 to 2 pounds per week. April 3rd will be my 1 year since surgery and this has been one crazy ride! I decided to Celebrate this milestone and picked up a new road bike yesterday. Who would have thought I would be riding one of those bikes with the skinny tires or riding a bike at all.... Not me thats for sure!!

Ok, so BIG NSV yesterday. Since before I had surgery 2 years ago, I dreamed of riding rides with my boys and knew it may never happen. We moved to Florida last year, and finally had a chance to visit Legoland yesterday. Not only was I able to keep up with them and their friends, I was leading the pack! AAAND riding roller coasters and other rides with them, and I didn't have to worry about fitting. There was ONE ride with a teeny car and the girl had to really push down on the bar to lock it, but that's ok! I've got a ways to go, but I've come SO far! I'm back on track with a trainer and we're going to get this job D O N E!!! KEEP WORKIN' IT PEOPLE!!!

Hey all. Sharing a small milestone on my WLS journey - hit one hundred pounds down today in a bit over 3 months since surgery. Have dropped in pant sizes from 58's to 46's over that period. Sadly, still have quite a long way to go and a bit uncertain I'll make it since I have hit a couple stalls over the last 20 pounds or so. But still felt it was a worthy moment to share. Thanks for listening.

I was on a week's vacation and my goal was to maintain my weight. I ended up losing half a pound while vacationing at an all inclusive beach resort in the carribean. I did enjoy the food....treated myself a little with bites of Desserts and virgin piña calodas. Prior to my sleeve..I would have gained at least 5 pounds that week. Now I am ready to continue with my weight loss .. About 30 pounds left .. One thing I noticed is that I am very aware of my feeling of satisfaction when I eat.(amount I eat). once I feel a little bit full. I stop to eat. I never get that overstuffed feeling Or feeling lethargic from eating too many sweets or at mealtime,

I've learned a lot from all of the people on this site, and it has helped me immensley. As a kind of final question of curiosity, aside from the obvious physical differences, how has this operation changed you?

  17. Wow how much as changed in a year . Reluctantly I went to see The doctor about getting a lap band just to shut my PCP up. March 26,2013 I had my appointment determined not to be banded. Call it divine intervention but after my visit I wanted the band. And due to the fact for months prior I had seen doctors regarding my weight loss efforts and health issues I was banded July 1,2013. And how fitting close to my 1 year anniversary of deciding to be banded , the girl who could barely do a sit up won the transformation challenge at the gym. Me !!! I won a fitness challenge. I haven't ever seen a post about this before, and it's a little weird. Has anyone experienced getting too boney? I am noticing this with my body, primarily my tail bone area. I feel like it's too boney! Like I will sit down and feel like I'm sitting on something and then I realize it's my tail bone! And also, the loose skin in the area around the tail bone, sometimes it feels like I'm pinching my skin when I sit! I guess it's better than having too much fat but I'm slightly worried!

I just saw a post I made in July because Debbie 'liked' it and it came to my inbox. The topic was losing weight after the age of 50. Here's what I said: I'm going to be 55 next month and want to lose around 120 lbs. I've lost 73 already and have done no exercise at all because of the severe arthritis. I go into the pool three days a week but it's to try to move and strengthen the knee, not to burn calories. I've no idea why I'm so successful...I'm not doing anything different than anyone else who's following the rules. I thought the same thing as you....how long would it take to lose the weight at my age and without exercising. I'm just grateful that it has come off s…

  23. I made it through my first week. I did not experience pain from my incisions or from my new sleeve, but the AIR, GAS...whatever you may call it has been mortifying. I still have some of it left, so I walk, walk, walk, dance, move around and repeat these steps over and over again. Also, I have been having an issue with making sure I have enough fluids, I love Sonic ice so I always get a Route 44 cup and eat that during the day and sip the Water as it melts. I am determined to find what works for me and make this change. "I can do ALL things through CHRIST who strengthens me!"

Please post approximate times in months as to how much weight lost vs. Time in months it took you to get there. I realize we are all different and we will all have different things to say. I am only asking to get a general idea of my expected weight loss or at least most of my expected weight loss before I get married. Do you lose …

Hi Everyone, I have struggled like nobody’s business post-surgery, at times it was hard to find where that limit was when I basically just threw up from being so full. Yup, that happened A LOT. I would eat a couple of bites and my food would make a special appearance. This was with measuring/weighing my food. I think I have finally figured out (YES FINALLY) what my limit is. Don't get me wrong this is still a work in progress. A lot of it had to do with foods my body just cannot tolerate anymore (like pork). I don't own a scale so I haven't weighed myself since my last Dr. appointment. I go to my appointment next month and I will find out my current weight is. S…

And I do have to admit that I should not eat as much sugar as I do now but I'm having no trouble maintaining so really just am keeping an eye on it and will absolutely return to my post op diet if needed. What could/should I have done better? Absolutely #1 would be I should have done some strength training and exercised more. The loose skin is much worse than I expected it would be - so to those who feel they are losing slowly consider it a benefit that your skin won't be as saggy. While I had no documented medical issues, my body hurt from head to toe. I was tired all the time, my mind was foggy and I was just truly unhappy with the way I looked. I will be honest, I only followed the pre op diet for two days. I just couldn't do it. That was going on knowing I might suffer the consequences for my actions. When I fell asleep on the operating table I was craving all types of foods but I woke a different person. In the past 3 months, my aches and pains have vanished. I can exercise and ke…

I've been battling depression on and off since 2010. It went away for a bit, but something told me it wasn't going to be away forever. College graduation was a fun time, and I finished at the ripe age of 19! This was in 2011. That night I moved from Orlando to Nashville and began building a good career and resume in the entertainment/music business. My weight continued to spiral upwards as I started climbing the ladder of a cut-throat industry that's completely centered image...so that didn't help any. One Sunday afternoon, I got a call one day that the little record label I worked at was closing its doors immediately. At that point I was forced to move back to DF…
