I was driving home from work the other day when I noticed a billboard advertising "New Non-Surgical Treatment for Plantar Fasciitis!". Great, I thought, I better look into that. About a minute later, I realized, I don't have any foot pain any longer! I don't need any special medical treatment for plantar fasciitis! And maybe I'm going to take these crazy, expensive insoles out of my shoes because I don't need them any longer. In addition to the plantar fasciitis going away, I have almost no knee or back pain any longer. I can do step routine at the gym and I can feel where the pain used to be, but it doesn't actually hurt. Also, my back is SO much better! I used t…

Thought I would check in. Everything is still going awesome... maybe better! Had my 1 year anniversary late Feb; my wife's is the end of this month (she had gastric bypass). We are down a combined 242 pounds (Me 360 to 225, her 260 to 153)!!! We workout daily lifting/cardio, plus bike rides or hikes on Saturday and/or Sunday. Here is a recent comparison of our awesome new US!

Doctor removed my steri- strips (well 4 out of 5 anyhoo..one wasnt quite done yet), cleared me to get back on my bike, moved on to puree (just had mashed tuna for lunch...yummiest 2 oz in a long time!) and gave me a release for next week to hit the pool. Although he's happy with the 8 lbs since the morning of my surgery (weigh in 294, I went home at 301 due to my period & water/swelling). we are both celebrating that I have lost 30 lbs since my 2 week prep diet, I'm at 285 this morning. Woo-Hoo!! Loving my sleeve. I have to kick myself out of the bed to get moving, but trying on clothes I haven't worn since my daughter was born...12 years ago!

10 months post-op update! 95 pounds down, 3 lbs to go to get to original goal, 8 pounds to get to new goal. I know it's not a great pic, but I seriously need to invest in a full length mirror (now that I don't hate looking at myself--ha!). Oh, and excuse my mess!!!

Don't get me wrong...my ego hasn't gotten to the Beyonce "Flawless" stage: I'm flawless...I woke up like this, I woke up like this... Not hardly. I'd also like to add that I've never had a big problem with self esteem, even at my heaviest I felt attractive. I've had my band for about 9 1/2 months now and it has been a great journey to say the least. I enjoy the weight loss with this device and I like the fact that I can go off course, gain a few pounds, give it a day or two and be back to normal. Love it! Anyway, while I've been losing, there are times when I feel like I am "bad built", out of proportion and simply without feminine form. Now that my weight as sta…

It's been over a year (5/2012) and I'm "only" 40lbs down... And still have a way to go! I would like to lose a minimum of 70lbs more however I'm not seeing that scale move! I get an adjustment like clockwork every 4wks and the scale will go down about 3-5lbs and either stay steady or regain about that much by the time the nxt adj comes around. I feel restricted and my diet primarily consists of salads, soups, yogurt, protein shakes, chili, fresh fish and veggies...every once in awhile I will have some wine or ice cream (again...periodically).. I exercise 3-4x a week for 30-45 min intense tabata, kickboxing, strength training type regimens buuuut collectively it's NOT WORK…

Yesterday it was my 6 month anniversary, 40 lbs lighter and so much healthier. I have going down from size 3x to size XL in tops and from size 24 to size 16P in pants. I am not diabetic anymore, and my heart beat has gone down from 115 bpm to 78 bpm. My cholesterol in way below normal levels and I am only taking one prescription, as a precaution only. When I did my stress test last year I was only able to walk 3 minutes in the treadmill, now I do 30 minutes treadmill (3miles), 15 minutes bicycle (2 miles) and then I do weights for 45 minutes ( arms, legs and torso). My husband is really happy with my new body, my breast has gone down but my butt is coming rounder. I d…

So I am scheduled for sept 4th and just had my last pre op appt. while waiting I met a woman who was 6 mos out and 70 pounds lost. While that is great, she lost most of the weight at the top of her body- leaving her butt, thighes and calves still big. I mean no disrespect but it looked awful!!! I am also big at the bottom and having second thoughts!!! Has this happened yo anyone?

Hi Everyone! I am 4 months and 7 days out from surgery and have officially gone from 267 pounds to 199 pounds post op! I am finally in the 100's! I have not see. That have seen my weight begin with a 1 since 2005. This has been an amazing journey and I feel amazing. I must admit it has been an easy journey because my sleeve works for me. Even when I nimble on something I shouldn't my sleeve stops me. I'm so so excited! Hope everyone feels as good as I!

I was banded 4 weeks ago, and I am down 25 pounds! I am super happy and I feel the results ready. I am scheduled 4/29 for my first band adjustment but I am nervous. I feel like I can eat a lot now? I thought I would feel more restriction. Not really sure what to expect...

Good Morning loves! So I hit my 1 year surgiversary 04/04/14. It's been one heck of a year but whoah have I grown. I feel like a new person. Not just physically but emotionally and mentally. I am more confident. More independent. More comfortable in my skin. All in all the best decision I've ever made. May we all continue to a healthier happier version of ourselves. I've attached a few shots from my modeling shoot I recently did. I'm a 33 year old mother of one. I have lost over 90 pounds. I'm not perfect but I am ME flaws and all.

Had my first post op appt today. I am 3 wks 1 day post sleeve. I have lost just under 27 lbs since surgery. The PA was shocked, she was sure I had surgery a few months ago! Between what I lost during the 4 months before surgery and since I have already lost almost 44% of my excess weight. (Too bad they didn't get me back is August when I started losing weight) Everything looks wonderful and I am returning to work next week (could have gone back at 2 wks but being a nurse and the only RN with over 45 patients, opted for 4wks off) my next follow up isn't until July and the PA stated she thinks I will drop a couple sizes by them, I just started fitting I to size 10 j…

As I was standing in the shower, letting the hot Water warm me (cause i am still cold all the time) I realized something - I CAN SEE MY FEET - and not just the toes... there was no HUGE belly in my view!!!! i know this sounds stupid... but i started to cry - tears of joy - it was like the moment the bath towel fit all the way and then some around my body... i am only 4 months out & i am so thankful I had the sleeve... Wishing everyone a HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

I had my sleeve done on Sept 30, 2013 in MX. It was a little rough at first but almost 7 months later I can't believe how normal I feel. I did not weigh prior to surgery. Day of surgery 300lbs. Today 220!!! I don't follow the rules as much as I should. I rarely have a shake. I try to get all my food from Protein. I rarely eat bread or past. I mostly eat meats and vegetables. I eat a sweet every night. I need to drink more Water. I drink alcohol about 2 to 3 times a month. I probably could have lost more but honestly I am happy with my progress. My biggest concern was never eating the foods I like. I eat small portions if whatever I like. So loosing and eating wha…

Everything seems to have finally settled down, and I am starting to lose weight more rapidly. I lost 8 pounds in the 4 weeks since my last fill, and have lost a total of 16 in 2 months. I am so motivated now, I even bought out a cute swimsuit in a size smaller for the summer.

I bought these pants a few days ago and wore them for the first time today!! SIZE 8!!!!! Whooooohoooo!!!! I've been a little upset with my scale, but I'm about to focus on muscle instead. I was dead-set on getting to goal before I muscle up (head games, I know). But pics like this help put things into perspective. So, I think I'll throw out the number goal and start lifting ?? Pic: size 18 vs size 8!

I am not even two months post op yet and I am feeling so, so much more like my old self!!! I feel wonderful. I have taken so much wt off my knees and yesterday I was able to do some heavy housework and have been working in my yard, and cooking and being the wonderful wife I used to be, as well as riding my Airdyne for 30 minutes. It feels AWESOME!!! I, like others, wondered the first 10 days what on earth I had done.....I had some depression but worked through it and stayed on course. I followed my doctors plan and still do, exactly what the team told me to do and I have had no dumping, no pain, and knock on wood, no stalls. I feel, already like I am in a different body. …

Spent the weekend with my girlfriend on Long Island and did a little suburban shopping on Saturday. Well I had one heck of a NSV. I tried on some dresses and I looked pretty good in a couple of them and decided to buy them. Got home earlier this evening, put one of the dresses back on and have been staring in the mirror and looking at myself because it's been just so long since I've worn a dress. Oh boy are my co-workers are going to be so surprised when they see me tomorrow...

I just scrubbed up with my special soap & am heading upto Houston for my surgery this morning at 9am. Say a prayer for me if you will -- I'm a little nervous, but mostly I am excited. Can't wait to hear from you April 21st pals! Good luck to all of you & thanks for the support over the last couple of weeks. See you soon!!

To say that my weight loss journey has not been remarkable is untrue. I have lost a total of 167 pounds since starting. I have lost 123 pounds since surgery. I started out on an insulin pump and so insulin resistant that I was pumping U-500 insulin. Starting last Friday when my fasting blood sugar was only 90 I decided to curtail insulin for a few days to see how my blood sugars would run without it. I am happy to say that the highest blood sugar reading I had since Friday was 143 and that was the highest. So I think I will simply monitor my blood sugar and see if I can kick the insulin habit for good. I can't tell you how happy my life is since I've gotten my weight unde…

Good day everyone, I'm on day 11 of my pre-op diet and so far I have been following it to a tee making sure to eat only clear liquids and my three protein shakes per day. So yesterday I was busier than ever with my finals and other appointments I had that needed my immediate attention this week as my surgery is set for Monday the 21st. Tuesday night I took out some chicken legs to let them defrost so I could bake them for my family to have for dinner and use the broth from the chicken to make some fat-free chicken broth for myself. after running around all day and finally finishing my two papers for my finals that are due today I realized that is was 5:30 and my hubby get…

I had to go out and buy new jeans(again) today. Everyone has been laughing at how baggy my clothes are so I decided it was time to break down and buy a couple new pairs of jeans. I was a size 24 when I started this journey. Today, I bought a size 14! WOW! Just Wow! I can't believe it! I've also gone from wearing a 3x-4x top, depending on how it's made, to now wearing an XL and even a large in some things. No more shopping in the plus sizes for me! It's funny too because I find I always start looking in the plus sizes and end up realizing those are too big and THEN I wander off to the "other side" of the store where the regular sizes are at. I don't know why I can't get it…

Well I received good news and bad news today. I finally broke the weight loss stall from St Pattys day when I stood on the scale (yay!!!) Then I went to the docs to review my labs. My A1c was 5.9!!! so my diabetes is under control with metformin alone. My total cholesterol was 170 so no medication needed for cholesterol. My blood pressure was 116/72 so no blood pressure medication needed (thats a total of 3 old medication stopped!) Now the bad news: My potassium was low again (even though I am taking a perscrition potassium supplement) My thyroid tests were low so I will have to increase the synthroid dose (I know I will never get off this one). Finnaly, My Prot…

Hey Everyone...I am not sure what my weight goal should be...I've been trying to figure out how to get down to a good BMI...but so know that I am not every going to be 120 again...so what weight do we put there...I think 140 is probably below what I will probably get too...but then if I don't go lower my BMI is still too high...any suggestions? Thanks!!!

I'm three days post-op, just for home from the hospital and I'm down 11 pounds? How can this be? I just made it to "Onederland"! I feel like my eyes are deceiving me. Maybe the part of stomach they took out weighed 11 pounds? Lol! I won't be getting on the scale for two weeks just in case it's a fluke... Starting Weight: 219 Surgery Weight: 208 (April 15, 2014) Current Weight: 197

I was sleeved on August 19th. Was 381 at my highest, 360 day of surgery, 275 yesterday at my checkup. Down 106 lbs overall. I lost a kid! These are from our profile pics on our company intranet. I didn't see the difference till my boss suggested replacing my old pic a couple weeks ago. I am happy with the results...about 55 to 65 lbs more to go.

I just got my first acceptance letter from the bariatric center where I live and am getting excited even though its a long journey. After much research I chose the gastric sleeve as my best chance for success to get my life back. My main concern is whether many folks have had long term success as the procedure is newer than the Lap Band and Bypass. Has anyone out there had the sleeve more than a couple of years? Has your stomach stayed small? Are you still full after a small amount of food? Do you still not get as hungry as before the surgery? Any issues with being gassy or hair loss still? Any information (good and bad) is helpful. Thank you all so much!!

As of today.. I have lost 50 pounds ...15 pounds left to go. I am in a size 8 now and decided on a goal weight of 150 pounds. That should bring me to a size 6. It has been such a great ride these past 4 months. I have no regrets .. The sleeve is a eons earful tool for me to easily control my hunger. I even have a very keen sense of head hunger now..versus real hunger. Going to a nutritionist and a psychologist since 3 months prior to surgery has been such a priceless tool to go into why I use food to soothe me in times of stress, tiredness, anger, , etc etc. I am a joyous person today.

I reached my goal today! This is what greeted me as I got on my scale this morning. My stats: Surgery Date: 7/26/13 HW: 269 SW: 248 CW: 140 I will post some pics soon. I am still camera shy. I think it's time to get over that! Thank you to everyone here who has helped me along the way! I hope to pay it forward.

I am doing this strictly for myself so that one day I can look back at it. Also, maybe it will encourage some of the new peeps. I started my liquid diet on Monday, February 24 at 241. I am 5'4". I had surgery on March 10. Today, 6 weeks later, I weigh 202. I have lost lots of inches- 5.5 off bust, 9.5 off waist, 8 off hips, 5 off thighs, 2.5 and 2.5 off upper arm. I am hoping I can manage to lose 3 more pounds by April 17 so that I will be under 200 when I go for my next checkup at the doctor. This has been quite an adventure- trying to learn how to get all the fluids in and eating in stages. It has not been easy but has been so worth it. I am beginning to try s…

Sorry for the all caps but I had to shout it out- I am in onederland now. I almost cried. I have posted this in one other place so forgive me. I can't help it. I am so happy. Goodbye 200s forever! FINALLY! I am at the point now where I am really glad to have done this. There were times I really struggled during the couple weeks but then you get used to the new life and all is well. Good luck everyone!

I'm laying in bed thinking about tomorrow being Monday. In my pre op life I would spend my Sunday nights in bed thinking about how I would be starting some kind of new diet the next day. How I would be good all week and maybe even exercise. But every Monday I would start out eating well then by three I would find myself in the cafeteria looking for a piece of cake and filling a 16 oz cup of coke. I would be disappointed with myself then would tell myself that the next Monday would be the day. That day never came until Dec 19th of last year. Here I am almost 4 months post op. Almost 70 pounds down and I am not thinking about beginning a new diet. I will wake up and drink…

I am 6 months out from bypass. I was looking over all my pre paperwork. I can not seem to find my answer. What is your calorie intake on a daily basis. I know we are supposed to watch sugars, carbs, proteins and stuff like that. I would like some type of number for my calories to watch also. Can anyone help?

OK so I never posted, but for the past year I have read constantly. I'm 38 years old married with 2 small children and I topped out at 390lbs. I couldn't play with my kids without getting out of breath. My life revolved around food. ALL types of food and LOTS of it. Spent my life on diets. Tried everything, would lose a lot and then go right back up and then some. Everyone knows what that's like! So I decided to take the plunge. The Dr was great. I came in thinking Lap Band, but he told me about the sleeve and I decided on it. BEST DECISION EVER! Surgery took an hour. No pain. Spent the next 2 weeks drinking ONE Protein shake a day and Water. I was starving onl…

I am only 1 1/2 wks post op and down almost 16 lbs since surgery. But got in my car today and had to move the seat up 1 notch cuz felt like my upper body was a mile from the strafing wheel and when I looked down I could see the crutch of my jeans instead of my belly!!!

I was sleeved 3/26/14. HW 360 SW 350 Cw 325. So far I have no regrets for taking the life change on. I look forward to what the future holds. Oh wait, the other day I had my first near death experience. I ate my breakfast (egg whites and ground turkey) then I drank water right after and left home for school. Well I had to pull over and pray the pain would stop, lol. My chest was so tight, listen I learned my lesson and it wont happen again. Any fun stories out there
