Hi there, I have a suspected internal hernia, my surgeon is going in to have a look on March 24 as all my ct scans etc have come back clear. Anyway, I could not sleep last night due to this severe burning right up my esophagus and in my upper abdominal area does anyone know if this could be related to the hernia or was it just acid reflux, I have never felt anything like that before. I'm going to contact my surgeon on Monday but just wondered if anyone has experienced this? Thank you!! Elaine

I weighed this morning and I am down 70 lbs now! Wow!!! Soooo happy! I still have a long way to go to reach my ultimate goal but for some reason, this 70 lb mark feels like a huge victory to me. Perhaps it's because I'm finally beginning to see it and feel it? Maybe it's because I can now fit into "regular size" clothes instead of shopping in the fat girl section. Maybe it's because I'm getting lots of compliments from people who are noticing now? Maybe it's because I can finally sleep all night long without waking up with joint pain? Maybe it's because I had blood work drawn a few weeks ago and my cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood glucose levels are all finally at no…

  3. I went to my primary doctor today for a checkup. When I finally caved and said I'd move forward on the bariatric surgery back in the summer of 2012, she did everything to convince me to have bypass or the sleeve because I needed to lose at least 100 lbs. and she said none of her other patients with the band ever lost more than 60 lbs. She said to me that if I could get to 150 lbs. she would be thrilled and she just didn't think that would happen with the band. Well...today she ate her words. I am at 150 lbs. and uh.... six pounds less than she weighs.

Hello my beautiful sleevers! My ass is shrinking at rapid rates and I'm not sure how I feel about that. It used to be one of my most coveted ASSets. Lmao. So I've gotta start these lunges and squats to build that booty up again. Any pointers on how to build that booty?!

I read many posts, and not sure how to respond to many of them...so I decided just to make a statement concerning MY weight loss approach... My problem was I could not control my eating....every diet in the world is not going to do anything for me if I can't stop eating.....I could eat an entire large pizza's all by myself...along with a couple of beers, and then dessert! Every Friday Night! So I had WLS to stop me - prevent me from overeating....simple as that...I have a band wrapped around my stomach that stops me from eating too much.....physically impossible to over eat.... I eat a 1/10th of what I used to on any given day...and the best part is I'm not hungry, …

I thought there was a "recipe" swap forum but I can't find it. I wanted to share one that I'm quite happy with. It's now in My Fitness Pal under "Heather's Banoffee Protein Muffins". 1 banana 1/3 cup Now whey Protein (Toffee Caramel Fudge) 1/3 cup oats vanilla cinnamon 1/4 cup skim milk (or less) Slice up the banana and blend all the ingredients in a Magic Bullet. Spray a mini muffin pan and spoon to fill 2/3 (makes 16 mini muffins). Bake at 350 for about 6 minutes. Each is 30 calories. I listed the serving size as 4 muffins.

  8. So yeah this might sound strange but I need clearance on it because it's a little strange and since I'm starting back at work on Monday I need to figure out how to make it stop or how to help it. After I eat a meal or a shake I get this noise that starts to come up my throat kind of like like a burp but just like air or something. It sounds like after you wash dishes and the Water goes down the drain. Why am I hearing this ?

A few years ago I was encouraging a friend's Mother to get off the sofa, turn off the TV, and get outdoors. She did not. Soon she was in a nursing home in front of the TV, bribing the nurses to bring her sweets. Then she died. So I retired Dec. 2012, at 66 after working 47 years, and found myself sitting on the sofa, depressed, eating, and watching TV. I felt myself heading in the same direction as that lady I mentioned. Went to another WLS Seminar last year for my husband, and oh dear Lord when they said I qualified I could not believe it! I have been shouting hurray! ever since I was sleeved. No matter what, I wanted to be mobile and not die a fat old lady who could n…

I haven't committed to sugery yet, so I'm coming from that perspective. When I think of good times with family and friends I think of dinners, picnics, parties, and all of the many homemade dishes and treats. I think one of my fears is losing something if I go ahead, like the special occasions will be different, or I won't be able to enjoy them as much. Am I just making food play too much of a role in my life? Have any of you struggled with it? Do you still enjoy the foods you always have?

So when I weighed a week ago I was 199. But that was too close to 200 for me to call it real. Well this morning I was 191 so I will officially Celebrate the milestone. That's the most significant loss I've had since preop, but I guess 2 weeks of diarrhea, 2 rounds of IV fluids and feeling like sh... 24/7 will do that to ya. I'd really rather be celebrating being off these damn antibiotics that are making me so sick. But still.... Yea Me!

Hello I was sleeved in May of 2013... Lost 85 pounds the first 3.5 months .... Have been kinda stuck since October or so ... I don't know why I can't find the motivation to go to the gym even though I wants to lose another 90 pounds ... I have snacking and eating some stuff I don't shouldn't be... So I know why I haven't lost any weight. I'm wondering the best way to start over... Should I start the food stages over again? Yes I know the gym is a big part of it... But I'm interested in the best way to Deal with the food ... I feel hungry like I did pre surgery ... But obviously I eat a lot less when I do eat the junk.. Thank you for any help

  29. I'm just curious to see if any other WLS person has had their spouse change his/her eating/exercising habits along with you, and benefitted by becoming healthy along with you? My husband has lost 50 pounds over the last nine months. He exercises 6 days a week now (we work out together on the weekends) and he eats a whole lot less food..... doesn't rat second helpings, never snacks anymore, and making great food choices. He has been my rock throughout this past year and as happy as he is for me..... I am as happy for him and proud of him!!!!

But I also take Biotin, cranberry, probiotic and a anti-inflammatory (which spell check won't let me add). I visited with my aunt last weekend and she was amazed at my face. I had Bells Palsy 7 years ago. I was left with one side drooping and hearing loss. A month prior to that I had sudden hearing loss syndrome. So between both of those, I have pretty moderate hearing loss. I have tried everything they told me to do but hearing and droopiness only got a little better. Also went in for another hearing assessment a week ago. He told me that I was hearing bet…

Last Sunday I weighed 204. Today 197!!! Woohoo!!!!! I was beginning to fear I would never weigh less than 200 lbs again. That means I lost 7lbs in one week. I know for some of y'all that is no big deal, but for me it is amazing! I began my journey with a month long stall. My average rate of loss is 5 lbs a month with 2-3 lbs a week if its a losing week. I am over the moon! I just wanted to say keep following the plan and things do work out!

This is such an amazing song. I don't know how anyone could listen to it and not want to break out into their wildest dance...even if others are looking. This song is special to me because I know how much my sister would have loved it, she died two years ago yesterday and I played it for her at the cemetery as I placed spring flowers for her and my father. It's strange that I'm writing about such a happy song, but as I type I'm a bit sad because I still miss her terribly and even though my heart tells me she heard me playing that song (the diet coke my brother in law left for her kept falling over, for no reason...I think she was telling me it was flat and time for a n…

This has nothing to do with my band, but in this forum I am among friends and this is a place that I like to share things...not always related to the band and I hope no one minds. As I mentioned in a previous post, my sister died two years ago yesterday and I'm really dealing with some heavy emotions. One thing made me chuckle...and it shouldn't have, but it did because it was so sweet. When I went to the funeral home to do my sister's hair and makeup, my brother in law almost got upset when I told him I was placing the wig on her head without a wig cap. I didn't say a word, just put my head down and waited for him to realize that it wouldn't matter anymore. He was s…

I guess a sign that my slight body dysmorphia is wearing off is that clothes look huge! You can't keep me out of the stores these days, I'm not concerned about losing much more and can feel better about buying a set size - thrift stores are still my faves, but I have begun buying new off the rack. What I've noticed is now that I realize I'm smaller, clothes seem to have gotten bigger. I grabbed a pair of pants in my old size and couldn't believe how big they were, I can fit BOTH of my legs in one pant leg! Dang!

  38. Advice from bandsters who have reached their goal. How did you approach maintenance? Did you allow yourself to continue to lose until you stopped, leaving the band as it was? Or did you get a slight unfill when you got where you wanted to be? If so, how many adjustments did it require to get you back to green?

Eight months and a day ago, I followed through with a surgery that most people frown upon and have misconceptions about. They told me not to do it: "consider the risks" they said. Eight months and a day ago, I told myself "this is the right thing to do, the decisions that make you think hard about are usually the ones that will impact your life the most but they are often for the best." Sometimes it is about the numbers. NSVs are great, but to be healthy I need the numbers to reflect that. So as of today (14 months out), I have lost over 110 pounds. I have less than 30 pounds to lose to reach goal. I have lost 41% of my original weight. And for me, the number that got to me the most today – 80%. I have lost 80% of my excess weight. So if you're starting out on this journey, don't get discouraged by the statistics. Do your own math. Know what you need to lose. Know the percentages. Understand what it's going to take to lose the weight. And then set a realistic time period for reaching your goal. Believe in yourself, more than you believe…
