Try the Atkins shakes. They are 10-15 grams of protein and come in a 4 pack for about $6. You can find them at Wal-Mart, Target, and probably your local grocery store. They come in lots of delicious flavors too. In the beginning, you'll only be able to drink a third of it, so stick it back in the fridge until you are ready to have more. Some of the powdered shake mixes have a really weird taste. The Atkins shakes don't.

weight loss plateau after sleeve? Is it normal?
I was a 3x a few months ago, as of Today, I'm an XL or size 16 top and XL or 18 bottom. My highest weight was 247. Today I'm 200. I'm 5'2" so that's still alot to be carrying on my petite frame. It's all in my gut, I look pregnant.

You can try going back to an all liquid diet and exercising more, but it may not work.. if it doesn't and at times it won't, don't get discouraged. That's when you look in the mirror and notice inches coming off. Your clothes fit looser. Non scale victories are pretty awesome and reassuring too.

Nothing.. TIME.

Keep your old clothes.. don't get rid of them until they absolutely don't fit anymore. 20lbs is too much to be lifting while you're healing. Ask your surgeon when you can do heavy lifting. I had double hernia repair along with my sleeve and wasn't allowed to lift 10lbs for 8 weeks. Post op tips: take a pillow with you for the ride home after surgery.. you will place it on your abdomen and apply pressure when going over bumps in the road. Figure out what protein shake you like best now, you'll be drinking that for 1-3 weeks (depending on what your nutritionist says). Buy your vitamins now that way you have them after surgery.. make sure they are liquid/sublingual/chewable. I get mine from Walgreens but they are on amazon too.. Optisource multi vitamin for post bariatric surgery. Start taking biotin now (it may stop the hair loss before it starts). Buy lots of sugar free jello, and sugar free popsicles..that will also be part of your diet for 1-4 weeks. The hardest part is the eating phases.. you will want to eat things your stomach isn't ready for.. stick with the plan they give you- it's for your safety, your new stomach needs time to heal and can't digest certain foods before it's healed. No food warrants a trip to the emergency room. Check on bariatric pal's forums frequently, there's a wealth of support and information. When in doubt, call your nutritionist or surgeon. If you are nervous, let them know and they will give you a mild sedative similar to xanax before you go into surgery. You'll be fine, this is a great decision you have made. Best of luck!

weight loss plateau after sleeve? Is it normal?
I was sleeved 2/28/14, I stalled for 4 weeks In April.. Finally after the stall I lost 6 pounds in a week. It's going to happen..

What dish or restaurant do you miss the most?
I don't really miss anything, my taste buds changed after I got sleeved and I tend to prefer grilled chicken salads all the time.

Sleevers feedback wanted! Will I lose my hair after the Sleeve?
I was sleeved on 2/28 and as of Today, 5/30, I haven't experienced any hair loss. I do take the following vitamins daily: OPTISOURCE citrus chewable multi vitamin 4x a day, Nature Made VitaMelts contains 2500mcg of Biotin and 60mg of vitamin C, and a sublingual liquid B complex with B12. I eat lots of chicken breast and start my day with an Atkins shake that has 15g of protein. I feel confident that as long as I take my vitamins and stick to a high protein diet, I won't experience hair loss.

Looking For A Surgeon
I had my surgery in Reynosa, Mexico (right next to Mission, Texas). You would fly into McAllen, Texas. My surgery coat was $6999 and included one night hospital stay. My surgeon was Dr Felipe Cantu. Google him and you'll find the corresponding phone number to reach his staff. Patty and Alejandra are both patient coordinators and speak English as most of the staff does, including the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, nutritionist and psychiatrist. Best hospital care I ever received and I did not have any complications.
