  3. I am also around 170# & 5'5". I have been exercising and doing weights for almost a year. I think that makes me look smaller. It still doesn't put my bmi in a normal range.

  5. How about the ones that say you don't need to lose any more weight or you will be too skinny? I know they mean well, but I want a healthy bmi. Health was my whole reason for having wls!
  6. Looking good! Keep up the good work.

  10. We are all doing so well on our weight loss journey. Hard to believe 4 months in. All those extra goodies are going to challenge us, but we can do it. Just remember self control. Something we didn't have a year ago! I wish my August buddies safe and Happy Holidays!
  11. Great accomplishment! Congrats!
  12. Surgery Aug. 6. I am down around 45#. Losing hair like crazy! NUT told me to increase protein to boost weight loss (and possibly slow hair loss). I now treat myself to a protein shake in the evening. I can't stand the taste/smell of protein powder anymore so I have to be creative. I use skim milk, instant milk powder, sugar free choc syrup, pb2, 3/4 scoop of whey protein, crushed ice. Blended in my bullet. That helps ensure I get at least 80 grams of protein a day. I am really feeling emotionally down, which is very unlike me. I hope that passes soon. I hope everyone else is doing well and feeling grateful for this weight loss opportunity.

  14. Great job, losing over 40# already. You will do fine losing the next 20#. I can tell by your post that you are determined!

  16. I have been losing hair for about 2 wks. Ugh! I already had fine/thin hair so was really dreading this phase. On a positive note, I am 30# from goal weight. SD: 8/6/13.

  19. Seek therapy or join a support group. There is too much work done in preparation of this surgery to sabotage it. It's kind of like quitting smoking. Once you pick up a cigarette you are likely going to become a full time smoker. Same goes with any addiction, including food.
  20. Bought some Levi's today. Size 12. They fit!
  21. Great job. Congrats!
  22. So, our choices are pancakes or tube socks?
  23. Definitely. You look great!
  24. No way. You feel every bump in the road the first week or two. Plus there is a good chance you will still have a drain tube. They require care in a sterile setting. Not all surgeons leave them in though. You will also need lots of rest. There is no way of knowing whether or not you will have complications.
