9 pin no tap

Down 109 pounds in 10 months from 306 to 197, feeling and looking better than I have in years. I'm in control of everything in my life, good job, great family life, nice car and home, lots of friends. Why couldn't I control my weight without the sleeve? I feel like I cheated, my life is like a game of 9 pin no tap, I know you only got 9 pins but were gonna give ya a strike anyway. I guess its not so bad i just wish I could have done it on my own.

  • You know what? I wish I could have lost weight without the surgery, but I was getting older and bigger by the minute. There is no disgrace in asking for help. Everyone here on the forum had to do it.

And right there is the problem...You wish you had done it on your own.........

Well this is where fixing the head comes in...You really need to go deep to find out why you used food as a comfort....It is the same as any other addiction except we still need to eat so it makes it that much harder....

You called this " cheating " really...You had to go under the knife and have them remove most of your stomach and bring you back where you could eat 1 cup of food a meal and you call that cheated....

I think using the word control is also a sign of a big problem...In life we can only control our own actions, not the actions of others....If you are in total control then something is wrong..Life is not about control it is about living it free of the desire to fill a void with food.....

I am so happy for you that you are successful. But I feel that you might not have looked deep enough to find the answers to the issues that got you where you were.....

Congrats on a great weight loss.....

I hear you. I feel/felt that way as well. I am a happy and fortunate person with a great family, friends and life but yet would start each day or week with "this time I am going to eat right and loose weight". it never worked. For whatever reason this extra tool has given me the ability to eat right most of the time. i am not planning on wasting any more time wishing and worrying about why I couldn't do it before but am thrilled that I am doing it now.
