Congrats! That's a lot of weight and is akin to what I need to lose. Did you have any real loose skin issues? I hear that it largely depends on your age though and I'm older than most so I'm really afraid about that.

Did you exercise much, or at all? I've seen many lose great weight without any serious exercise at all! I haven't done any yet, but will begin with something by week's end.

Congratulations. Kim. Gives me hope.

I was doing the elliptical 3x a week for an hour and running 3x a week for 35 min (same days) until it got cold outside and had a hysterectomy. But I do still do the elliptical 3x a week for an hour..

Hey Kim,

My name is Storm. I'm from Northern Michigan and am currently looking into having sleeve surgery but I'm a little apprehensive about it. I was hoping since you have done it and are a success story, that maybe you could give me some info that I am interested in knowing. Right now I am in the process of getting my pre-op medical appointments all handled. The one thing that is bothering me the most, is that the nutritionist is saying that I can never have certain foods again such as Pasta, breads etc. etc. The problem that I have with that is that I am a personal chef and caterer and I have to taste everything that I make and that includes sweets as well. I have no desire to eat these foods in an abundance or on a regular basis but I do want to enjoy these foods from time to time even when I'm not working. I was told that I can eat anything that I want with this surgery only in small amounts but, it would slow down the weight loss. I understand that. Now, the nutritionist is telling me that I can never have these foods or soda again. The whole reason for my choosing the sleeve was so that I could have the ability to still enjoy these "BAD" foods without getting ill. She doesn't even want me to have a Protein bar. Is that what you were told as well? Do you NEVER have foods other than lean Protein, vegy's and fruits? Am I unrealistic thinking that it is ok from time to time to cheat? As I said earlier, I know that the better we eat, the more weight loss we will enjoy but, I don't mind saying that I am somewhat confused. I was also told that I am not to snack in between meals, ever! Of course I am referring to healthy Snacks like nuts and fruit etc. Would you consider getting back to me as soon as you can with your thoughts on this and if you were that strict with your diet and anything else that you may have done to achieve your goal. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much.

Gayle

You can eat Pasta and rice and bread, just not a lot of it.. As a mater of fact my nut said you have to eat carbs... I will say never have soda.. I haven't had any in over a year. My husband, who has had the surgery also, has had a very little bit of soda. But I wont chance it... they say it expands your stomach. My Nut also told me to only have 3 meals a day and no snacking. I am not perfect and I have a bad bad habit of eating small pieces of chocolate in the office.(TOO MANY candy BOWLS). But I workout extra harder in the gym to make up for it.. This was the best decision I have every made. But how much you lose is completely up to you. If you don't exercise (cardo) you wont lose all your weight. I was bound and determined to get to my goal weight by 1 year post op because I know it gets harder and harder the farther out you are. I wanted to take full advantage on the first year. Now I want to lose 6 more lbs.. to be the same weight as my 15 year old daughter!! LOL that is hilarious to me .. Who would have ever thought... NOT ME!!!

Inspiring pictures! Did you have surgery together or at different times? I think it must have been amazing to go through this journey with your partner.

Wow, amazing new photos of you both! My husband and I also had the sleeve, (with more modest results that you both...he lost about -70 and I lost about -85) so my hats off to you! Love couples who do this together!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
