So Monday is my surgery pending insurance clearance. Thursday I have a pre-op pre-admission test. I had a 6 month nutrition program that I had to lose 25 pounds to qualify and I did. Exactly 25. My problem now is that I gained some of that back. I’m so worried they will deny me, the doctor at least. I worry about everything.

Hello everyone im glad to have found this forum, my PCP has told me I need a sleeve, but the doctor he referred me to doesn't take medicaid, only. I have a BMI of 53 and I feel desperate to have something done, I want to be around for my 4 kids. I'm only 35 with lots of life left I don't want it cut short by a heart attack. Can anyone think of a doctor that takes medicaid please.

Hello everyone! My name is Natasha. I'm new to here and looking to have the gastric sleeve done. I been going back and forth with it since 2015 and had my pcp refer me last year and am finally going for it. I went to the seminar and have my first appointment scheduled with Dr Georgescu Sept 15th. Has anyone here had him as a surgeon? Where are my CO people? Anyone have to go through the medicaid stuff here in Colorado? How was it? Any recommendations?

I am on week 2 of my liquid diet. My surgery is in 2 days. Today, I was sitting watching a movie. I felt a little funny and then an orange liquid came out of my bum and soiled my clothing. It did not look like poo at all. It looked like orange water, slightly transparent. Is this because of the liquid diet?

tl;dr: Is it crazy for me to go into my self-pay vsg without supplemental insurance? Several months ago I found out that my insurance doesn't cover WLS period, no matter how necessary it is. No problem, I decided to self pay, saved my money, etc etc. One of the costs the doctor's office listed was supplemental insurance to cover any complications. I went to my pre-op on Thursday and found out the office does not have a supplemental insurance agreement. I'm pretty shocked. As of yesterday they still don't have one. My surgery is at 9:45 am on Monday. When I talked to the surgical coordinator on the phone, she said that they had stopped requiring supplemental ins…

Has anyone here had RNY and had incisional hernias? I am thinking about getting RNY wls but am concerned about the hernia repair that I’ll need. The hernias resulted from a previous surgery that I had. I really want to have surgery, but my insurance doesn’t cover it, but it will cover the hernias and I was thinking that I could get both done at the same time to save on the costs, just don’t know how complicated it will be. I have my first appointments with the surgeon next week.

I live in NH and will be doing it through Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. I have been debating surgery for years now. I have a few friends who have had surgery and have never regretted it and my doctor finally recommended me tok a weight and wellness center saying that she said most likely I would be a prime candidate for surgery. I am on day 8 of my 14 day liquid diet and haven't had much issues sticking to the 3 shakes a day but the excess protein has got me super constipated. I drink at minimum 72oz of water daily. I am usually pretty regular and go easily and quickly but since being on the liquid diet, I am going several days without pooping (I have taken Miralax and today took MM) and when I finally can, its a long stressful, painful affair. I feel like giving birth to my three kids was easier. Any ideas of what else I can do to alleviate this?

I did a test run for myself this week and I was weak, off-balanced, and my vision was a little blurred. I'm not sure if this is because I'm pre-diabetic or if my body just went into shock! LOL! These are all things I will share with my surgeon before starting the liquid diet.

I started the program yesterday and I almost wish I could get my money back and forget I wanted to do this.. I want to change my life and be healthy.. But it sounds absolutely insane letting someone cut my stomach out.. What if I get stomach cancer one day and there's nothing they can do cause I already removed the majority of my stomach (my grandpop died from stomach cancer the second time he had it. They removed 90% of his stomach and he had dumping syndrome after). Or this dumping syndrome? How does anyone get adequate nutrition by barely eating? Are you starving your body? I want it, but I don't. If this is a good solution, why doesn't everyone do it? So many question…

Now, every time I drink Premier Protein, I get the same nauseous feeling that lasts into the next day. Anyone else experience this? Not sure if it’s because I’m drinking it too fast. Will try drinking slower. I am pre-op.

I have a big impatience problem, I know. But this surgery is WAY TOO IMPORTANT for me to not be freaking out about how long it’s taking! My doctors office submitted my information to the insurance company on March 1. The insurance lady went on vacation and will be gone to June 1st. The office manager won’t answer her phone and won’t call me back. And the insurance company won’t tell me anything. From what I’ve read on here and other forums, uhc takes a few days to approve and some people have gotten approval in one day. It’s going on 9 days and still no approval!!!

  46. I have visit #4 coming up on Friday of my supervised 6 month diet (UHC provider). I have been very strict on going exactly one month apart. Each time has been on the 22nd or 23rd of the month. I may need to push this months visit to the 30th of the month. My visits have been, Dec 22, Jan 22, Feb 23... Will March 30 cause an issue in the connective monthly visits since its a week later than the previous visits. I guess I could call the insurance company, but would love to know any real world experiences. Thank you!

Hi all, For those doing liquid diets or adding protein shakes to their regimen, I found what looks like a great deal. It's three bags of 2.2lb each of protein drink mix, or 120 total servings. It's 19g of protein, less than other powdered mixes, but only 2g of carbs. But the best part is that it's $30 total with free shipping and it comes in 24 different flavors, so you can get three different tastes. https://slickdeals.net/f/11370755-6-6lb-impact-whey-protein-30-free-shipping I searched the MyProtein brand here and there are lots of good things written about them. Edited to add: I just ordered the salted caramel, brownie batter and Boston cream pie.
