Wondering, I know I was a challenge for my surgeon he did a gastric bypass, Heller myotomy fundoplication. He said it was hard to get in because it was very little space to move around because of my spine fusion, things inside where not in it's place. So I wonder if he had to find a different ways to get in. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

  6. Good morning. My sleeve surgery is this Friday, 3/16. I didn't receive any instruction about acrylic nails. I do have them, but they are a French manicure (clear with white on the tips). Do I need to remove them all, some, none? I don't want to get there and have the surgery cancelled because of my nails. Thanks in advance.

I have Molina and I have been approved to start stage 2. I talked with my case manager today but, I was confused about tracking the behavior health. She was telling me there is nothing my counselor needs to turn in. How would Molina track the visits? Am I missing something?

Hello all! Got a question on vitamins pre op... i take 3 of the bariatric advantage multivitamins with iron a day and then I take an extra iron pill too since I am anemic. I also take a biotin barimelt too. Should I even be taking the multi vitamin preop? and do I need to stop them before surgery? I asked the surgeon... sent him an email... waiting for response. Just trying to see what others have done. My surgery is april 2nd so just a little over 2 weeks away.

I was wondering.... What kinds of questions do they ask? I spoke with my UHC Bariatric nurse for about an hour and she asked me things like, "What will be the hardest thing for you to have to change before, during and after surgery and what will you do to make sure you make the right choices?" and "What made you feel that surgery was the best choice for you?" and "Do you think you are emotionally ready for the changes that you will have to make for the rest of your life?" I would think these questions would be right there on the tip of my tongue ready to be spoken but i froze and for a moment didn't have answers. I think i kinda spooked myself. I felt like …

In less than 18 hours I will finally get my gastric sleeve! I've been waiting for almost 9 years for this and I can't wait! I'm still another month away from eating soft foods but, I've completed the 2 weeks of pre-op liquids and I did NOT cheat! I saw my surgeon on Jan 2nd, completed nutritional counseling, passed the psych exam, lost 29 lbs. or more and made 21 trips (round trip is 2.5 hours), joined 2 gyms, purchased a treadmill and now I'm across the street from the hospital tonight! Now if only the weather will cooperate so that my family can get here from out of town...

My understanding is that the pre op diet should be low carb, low calorie ad high protein. Why not just let us eat real food that meets those requirements? I’m on day 14 of my 3 week semi liquid diet and I’m sick of shakes. I’d rather just eat some shrimp or other protein. Knowing that I’m going to have to do liquids after surgery why do them so much now when my stomach is regular size and real food doesn’t hurt. Just wondering and struggling. I feel bad for those on total liquids before surgery. I guess starting before surgery should make it less rough after surgery to just do liquids for a while.

So a year ago I completed the 6-month process for my insurance to get weight loss surgery. We were getting ready to schedule the date and I chickened out Plus on top of that a lot of stuff happened I lost my grandpa and my sister within 2 days of each other. I called today to see what I needed to get back on plan for surgery, because this time I'm so beyond ready. They said I would have to repeat the 6 month process again which I'm ok with. That helps me to get some weight off before surgery so the surgery is saver. I'm so excited for this journey but terrified of there being complications. I’m currently 4 months into my 6 month process for vsg. Started my nutrition classes in Oct, met with nutritionist one on one, went for my psych appointment, also was required to go to an exercise class as well as testing to make sure I didn’t have a hiatal hernia. Just like to hear about everyone’s process leading up to surgery. How long of a wait til approval and surgery date? Or how about any pre op diets? Not sure if or for how long before surgery I’d be required to be on liquids.

Today has been a whirlwind! I had my second weigh in with my bariatric clinic and we have been looking at a late June date for the VSG. I would have been eligible in May, but I teach Seniors and we have graduation to contend with, so it just wasn’t a good time. I went to my appointment and was completely surprised when my NUT said “well, you are ready to go!” I looked at her confused and told her that I had one more month of weigh ins. She said “nope, we finally got your paperwork from your PCP appointment in December, and it has everything we need to count that as the first month.” I had no idea!! I was told that the paperwork did not have the necessary information, but …

Hi I am brand new here, I have my 3rd of 6 required nutrition appointments tomorrow so surgery is still a few months away. But lately I have been having nightmares that someone is going to come and tell me I no longer qualify for the surgery. I know it is because I am constantly worried that this very thing will happen. Did anyone else have this worry that they would get to the end of the process to have their hopes and hard work dashed at the last second and not be able to have the surgery? I know I just need to relax, but I am struggling to trust that this is going to happen for me...most likely because I want it so bad

Although I am based in Scotland and i know the vast majority on here are North america based, so your experiences might be vastly different, I was still looking for some tips on what to expect from the first consultations if possible. There is a UK based Forum, but it doesnt seem to get much traffic. Many thanks Gerry
