Hello, I'm still in the stages of research but have identified a reasonably priced surgeon in the Czech Republic, Dr Michael Vrany and wonder if anyone has used him or has had any experience with this surgeon. The package price for the gastric sleeve surgery is in the region of £5000 which works with my budget. I've researched all of the WLS options and believe the gastric sleeve is best suited for me. My current weight 200lbs (90KG) and height 5'2" (160cm) with a BMI of 35+ Does anyone have any thoughts or experience of this surgeon or advice on the gastric sleeve with my stats?

I know I’m Post-Op now, but I seem to get more info from everyone in this group. So I’m on my 5th day post-op. All I can eat is liquids till the 30th when I meet with my doc again and he hopefully moves me to more solid food. I was looking into the Soups on the Bariatric Pals Store. Has anyone tried any of them and if so, are any of them good?

So I have a tear in my shoulder that needs repair but my last dietitian appointment is in a couple of days . Once approved for my wieghtloss surgery can I push it back until 6 weeks after my shoulder gets repaired? My surgeon for my shoulder said he would clear me 6weeks after my shoulder surgery.

Like many I tried numerous programs, over the last 15 to 20 years, to address my slowly increasing weight, but nothing worked for more than a month or so. My problem is not eating poor quality meals, generally over eating at meal time, routinely eating badly (rarely go to a McDonald's except driving on vacation) or having a trigger food like cake or ice cream. My problem is I have no clue what hunger really feels like anymore. I can easily go all day with out eating but then once I start at dinner I can't/don't stop eating. I can eat a Thanks Giving meal, stuffed to the point of being sick, and then still tur…

For those of you who did self pay surgery in the states, what preop testing did your Dr require? I go for my initial consult on 4/16/18 and was just wondering what all was required from other Dr's who had self pay patients. Thank you!!

So guys does anyone here shop in bulk. I sure do. My surgery is not until September but I got my ready to drink muscle milk I got protein water. Both of which are ok by my program. Okay, so I have VERY bad anxiety. I plan and plan and plan even small things like my grocery list. I have what my therapist says is OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder) and anxiety. I'm just wondering if there is anyone out there with anxiety as well and how you plan on handling your surgery day. Mine is at 7:15 am but start the process at 5:30 am so I'm not only going to be tired from the 2 hour car trip (3 am is not an optimal wake up time for me) but I am also not going to be in the happiest of moods. Had a home sleep study over the weekend. WORST. SLEEP. EVER. I had this head band thing with sensors on it, and it also took audio. So I couldn't sleep in my normal bedroom, because my husband also snores and his noise would come out on my test. Also couldn't use white noise machine, or have the tv on. So I slept on the couch. The thing kept falling off of my head and hitting me in the eyes and nose. the tube that goes up your nose (yes up your nose) would then fall out or push up. I couldn't move or it would move. I took it off to go to the bathroom even though they said don't take it off during the test. No way I was going to wear it in the bathroom. Thi…

I am scheduled to have revision to RNY on April 10th! I started the liquid diet yesterday and have been good so far but I am so tired! Does anyone else have surgery coming up? I'd love to have someone to chat with

I'm new to this site but i'm loving it already! I like the idea of having a surgery buddy. We can exchange Snapchats. Preferably someone around my age, i'm 26. I'm getting more and more nervous as the days tick away.

I'm so excited! I received my approval today and completed my pre-admissions. My surgery is scheduled for April 25 at 8:00 am. I'm on day four of my liquid diet and so far, I've had no headaches, hunger pains nor have I been "hangry"!!!

So my surgery is in less than a month but I have to pre-register at the hospital a week or so in advance. The doctor also wants more blood work which I don't mind but didn't say when. Did any of you have to do this as well? Do I have to do this before I register at the hospital because they will need that information? They aren't helping me with these questions. I called so many times.

What is all of your favorite protein shakes? I’ve tried Premier Protein drinks and ......... yeah. That’s all I have to say about that. But I NEED to find a good one that is not chalky and honestly doesn’t have a taste. AND GO.

I went and saw my primary care doctor this morning and he agreed to the referral to see the bariatric surgeon. He also thinks I have sleep apnea so he referred me to pulmonology. The bariatric department already called me today to schedule the consultation. My partner and I feel it would be best to have a baby now instead of after the surgery(so I don’t gain the weight back) so I’m going to speak with the doctor and see how long post partum before I can have the sleeve. I know most of the basics on what they cover for gastric sleeve, but what I want to know is if they covered everything or if they covered 80%? Hi everyone, so I just got off the phone with the insurance representative at my doctors office and today was my last weight in, she is getting my paperwork to submit the approval request for my sleeve surgery as we speak!! So I started this process, I would say, summer of 2016. I didn’t attend a seminar until November of that same year, with my first initial appointment with my prospective surgeon being March of 2017. Since then I’ve hit many, MANY bumps in the road, the main one being my pcp’s reluctance to write a letter of recommendation. Thankfully I’ve been able to over come every obstacle placed before me to get to where I am now! My paperwork (including letter of recommendation) was submitted to my insurance for approval 4/2/18. I have Connecticut Medicaid/Medicare also known as Husky A. I was wondering how long did it take for an approval? For those with the same insurance as mine.

Bummer news... Went in yesterday for my pre-op because my surgery was schedualed for March 20th. Diagnosed that I have NASH-cirrhosis of the liver and Thrombocytopenia (my blood doesn't clot normally) I go back in 3 weeks to meet with a liver guy and he will do a CT scan and ultrasound. Pretty nervous and disappointed right now. Anyone else have one or both of these. I did ask my surgeon what the chances of me having surgery, ever and he said there was a 5-10% chance I would not have surgery. Surgeon seemed very bummed about having to break the news to me, which made me feel better but uneasy. Thank you in advance!

I've been on the pre-op liquid diet since Friday, 3/30 ( 2.5 weeks leading up to my 4/17 surgery date). I can honestly say, this is the first time in my life that I have not put anything in my mouth that isn't allowed, yet, I've only lost 10 pounds, only 4 in the last week. I still have to lose 10 to get to my goal that the surgeon set for me and my weigh in is this Friday - has anyone else had this issue. If I had not followed to the letter, I would understand. But, I'm getting concerned that my doctor will not do the surgery as planned. Ugh....

Ive been looking at surgeons and I had a friend who went to Dr.Cervantes and had a wonderful experience. Ive seen one comment on here about him having a fatality during surgery a few months ago, but to me 1 fatality out of hundreds if not thousands of procedures sounds pretty good to me. Has anyone else used him??? no hear-say please, just patients or former coworkers opinions. Im already extremely nervous about this.

Had my final weigh in today and my documents will be sent to Cigna for review next week. I was told I would be called within 3 weeks to hear if I was approved and that surgery will happen in about 2 to 3 months after that. I’m a little bummed that after my 4 plus months of waiting to submit my insurance documentation that I would have to wait another 2-3 months. How long from submitting your insurance requirements for approval to your surgery date did you have to wait? Does 2-3 months sound like an excessive wait after approval or is that average?

So I had a 5 hr appt yesterday where I answered literally around 600 questions about myself, watched films, met with dieticians and so on. They then scheduled me my psych eval, EKG, endoscopy and bloodwork all the same appt for two weeks out. Man things are moving. All I need now are 6 nutritional visits and they can be 2 years prior but consecutive. Wow! I can't catch my breath! Has anyone else had things go like this? Before surgery I ordered girl scouts peanut butter cookies. I always support them and buy several boxes, now that I'm eating soft foods I got tempted I ate one cookie and feel guilty. So my dr's office finally submitted the paperwork to BCBS of IL yesterday, They said they received it, will do the medically review and then submit it to Team Care (hubby is a UPS'er) for approval. Hoping to have all of this done by May. Started the process in Nov. Over here sitting on pins and needles. With all of my co-morbidities, I'm beyond ready to use this tool to get some relief. Just excited and needed to get it off of my chest. I have told a few co-workers, but most just think I'm going out to have surgery on my legs for my venous reflux. I can't wait.

Since my 2015 sleeve, I have developed severe Gerd and also have a hernia so I’m converting to a bypass in June. I went to the pulmonary dr the other day and did a battery of breathing tests and said I nailed them very close to 100%.
