Hi there, I am looking for a surgery buddy and people who are also going through this to go through it with me. I currently have my surgery scheduled with Dr. Almanza on April 28 (Eeeee!!!! So excited!!!). I am wanting some positive people to do this with that will understand what I'm going through and be there to text, email or call when we need it. I am a very positive person, 39, BMI is 39. I live in Dallas, I'm a CPA, no husband or children (yet... I hope!!). Please let me know if you are interested in going through this adventure with me! Take care, Cynthia

Hey guys, whats up? Anything new and exciting to report as we are now in February? What are you focusing on most now? I am focusing on getting consistent and regular with exercise. I am now starting to see with how tolerant my sleeve is that I can see how important it will continue to be to create new behaviors around eating. As long as I focus on Protein first, things are pretty good, but I can see how people could "cheat" with sliders. So my other focus is on continuing to stay the course on being clean in my post-op diet. Are a lot of us on myfitnesspal? Please post your username if you want buddies there. I am "losermama" there too. Hope everyone is well…

So I was sleeved on Feb 8th. My mom is in town to take care of me but at the same time I want her to have a nice time. My mom is really good at putting my needs first and taking care of me. My boyfriend last night asked me if I could get his phone charger. Mind you I was already in bed and it's super hard to get up from bed cause of abdominal pain. I said ok thinking he was just kidding, he wasn't. Now luckily I have brought juice and water on our "outing" but I really want some broth. I am hungry. He decides to overrule my Panera choice (I was planning on having the chicken noodle broth) by going to a hamburger joint. I have to sit here and stare at them eat... Once agai…

Since I've had my surgery ~4 weeks ago, I've been feeling almost.... resentful. I love him, I do, and he is super supportive of me and is always there for me when I need him. He is the love of my life and I want to spend the rest of my long (healthy!) life with him. The problem is that I feel like now I'm conquering my obesity and am at the brink of living the life I've always wanted to have (going camping, canoeing, going to summer festivals or theme parks), and my husband who is even more obese than I am (he is about 55 BMI) is not concerned with his health so he hasn't changed. I've begged, we've had long conversations, I've forced him to eat better (with me), but …

I sure am glad that Valentine's Day is over. I really messed up. First of all, my grandchildren came home to show me all of their valentines. Well, it seems that a card given by itself is passe, and now candy is always included with every card. Between my 2 grandchildren, it was as bad as Halloween. Then, my son-in-law came home with roses and a few boxes of candy. My husband cooked a special dinner that was oh so fattening! Oh, no! I went berserk! I hope that its out of my system. Next time I'm telling Cupid to skip my address and leave me alone.

Here I am at 1 week and 1 day post-op. Down 31 pounds (14 lbs from pre-op diet)!!! I am feeling amazing. I tried wedding dresses on today! Even though I'm not where I want to be, it felt amazing to have the dresses CLIPPED in the back because they were TOO BIG! I was struggling for a couple of days as far as getting protien down- everything tasted awful. Thanks to the dieticians I am now eating Campbell's cream Soups made with FF Lactaid milk and blended in my Ninja. I've been adding unflavored unjury to the Soup to make sure I get the protien. FEELING GREAT! SO happy the "buyer's remorse" is gone. That was worrying me! Just wanted to share the good news. I can't bel…

I don't know if I have just let all the negative comments get to me or if I really think that I am destined to weigh over 400 pounds for the rest of my life...but today I have been thinking...what if I spend all this money and it still doesn't work....what do I do then? I can't return it and get my money back. Is there any chance that this won't work? I mean I know that I have to follow the diet and I am good with that...heck I have started the preop already and I am not supposed to for another week...I am dedicated and really want this to work...but am I setting myself up for failure? Is it going to work for me? I really just want to cry because there are so many th…

Ok - I have been getting a dream that I am at my house and this Publisher's Clearinghouse type of get up shows up and they go "Congradulations on your weight loss" - and I am all happy because in my dream I have lost to my goal - but then they go! "PUNKED! You never got the surgery! It was all a joke!" And I wake up...WT@! Anyone had any odd ones like that?

In about seven short weeks, Valentine's Day will be here! Who's up for a challenge? With the holidays behind us and some of us making our goals and some of us falling a little short, I thought I might motivate us a little more by starting a new challenge. The New Year is at hand and we will all want to start off with a bang! This challenge is shorter than the previous two I have been involved with, so set your goals accordingly... I seem to set mine a little too high every time but it makes me work harder trying to reach it. My stats for this challenge are: SN: Forensikchic SW: 179 GW: 164 CW: 179 pounds to lose: 15 Upon reaching my goal I will be down…

Okay, so here's a quick rundown of what's been going on. My dad wasn't informed about this surgery until after I got insurance approval and that is the route that I decided would be best because my dad doesn't like it when things are half assed. After checking this route with my mom, she agreed with me. That way, after my consultation and all the tests I would be able to answer his questions. And I decided to wait until after getting insurance approval because if I got denied by insurance, there wasn't any point in getting him all worked up about it. Well, he wasn't happy with that decision, or any other decisions I've made for my life, especially those regarding this sur…

I posted this in the band to sleeve thread but thought some long time exbandits might hang out in here as most of the contributers over there are new or not sleeved yet so. Ok saw my doc yesterday to get a date and asked him bougie size he said he uses a 34 but wraps loose on exbandits so its more like a 38. He said it is to avoid leaks in the area where scar tissue is present after band removal This really concerns me that the weightloss will be shitty. He said when I asked that his sleeve patients lose a bit then might go back up a bit where others lose and yet others maintain. I am confused with this, he says I need to maintain however I have gained over…

I had my surgery just over a year ago ( about 14 months) I am 25 and before I had my surgery part of my reasoning for doing it was because my cholesterol was so dangerously high. I was excited to see in June (6 month bloodwork checkup) that my Cholesterol level had gone down alot (almost 100 points) Well I just got back my newest results and my Cholesterol has skyrocketed even higher than ever before. I have lost more than half my total body weight i am well in the normal rage for my bmi but my cholesterol is even higher now, how is this possible!? Im so angry, frusterated, and dissapointed in myself. My cholesterol is 389 and Ldl 317. I feel like as a 120lb 25 year old f…

Ok my day is near. 17th lol omg. I have 12 Isopure fruit punch drinks, 6 ion4 Powerade fruit punch to cut the isopure with and then I have some friut2O assorted drinks. I just hope I can do it. For the past couple of weeks I been thinning out Soups to tide me over. So far I lost 15 lbs. I got sick thursday so I ate more carbs 3 days in order to fight the infection. Calories still stayed under 1200. Today I took a shot in the butt for my cold and as of right now its almost gone. I also went out and bought me a nice recliner. It was $493 but is really is perfect for for me post op. Tomorrow ADT is coming install a security system and I am going to run my security came…

Hi all. I originally wanted a tattoo in a spot where there are strechmarks, but after googling that topic the mentioned trying a lasering of the marks, as well as microdermabrasion, and something including a blue light. Anyone try this and have been successful? I have old stretchmarks and I know that makes a difference in some treatments.

I'm looking for someone that started out near my weight that is a size 4 or 6 now. I would like to know how much weight did you lose to get to that size? With all the new vanity sizing it gets confusing, so I guess I'm looking for someone that is a H&M or banana Republic 4/6. I know everyone is different, and there are different factors including muscle composition, frame size ' I am also looking to friend or follow someones blog that either just started their journey, just had their surgery, or months out that was similar in weight. I like watching (if vlogging) or getting information from people that started out similar to my size. I'd say that I have a medium or…

I have just been given devastating news... one of the boys I have taught at my school has passed away today. He was just 15 years old. He was fit and heathy, a great sports man and a fantastic student; a very bright pupil who had the world at his feet. I need to embrace this life that I have been given as this news just hammers home that it can be taken away as soon as it is given. I know you guys understand...

Hi Everyone! I've spent the past few days reading the forums here and have been on a rollercoaster of happiness and hope and being terrified of complications, So I live in Ma and had the lapband surgery completed in December of 08. I've had the band just about three years. I started at about 330 and dropped down to 243 at my lowest. I was never hungry, I had so much energy, I was super concerned about my hair thinning and such which was a bummer but I was on a roll. Then I had too much restriction after a fill and I had a slip or something (He never told me after the swallow) and all the Fluid was removed from my band. 4 weeks later he started slowly filling m…

I just had my second dietician appointment. I have like 2 more and then whatever else I need done. I'm a bit excited about surgery but I want to know from where all do you lose weight and inches? I know it's a stupid question but does your ring size get smaller? What about your shoe size? And where does it all go? Is it like the alli pill where you (sorry tmi) crap it all out or is it different?

I have decided to have VSG. I have got the funds and have attended seminar, where I talked with the doctor. I have scheduled my initial appointment with him next Tuesday, 6/7/11. I know that I will have to attend a nutrition class and support group and will have to probably have a psychological evaluation. He might send me for a sleep study since I, more than likely, have Sleep Apnea. According to what I took from the seminar, these are the criteria I have to meet before I can have the surgery. So I'm really just beginning my journey. Anyone from the South who has had this or is willing to "buddy up" will be greatly appreciated! Meg

I have to get a thyroid ultrasound. Not related to the weight loss appointments. I want to know what happens? Am I put to lay down? Is it something quick? I ask because I have no sitter as yet, but tons of appoinments. I'm trying to get all appointments on the same day so I can have my uncle watch my son. Although I still have to call this local daycare for rates. I've taken my son with my to the doctor for regular stuff, but this is new stuff and I don't want him unattended if the process is long. I asked my friend what it was and about the process, and with her endoscopy they put her under. She couldnt really explain everything to me clearly. I could call the office, …

I need to ask this as I am constantly thinking about it. People that are 2 years and longer post-op,if you counted your calories, how many calories do you eat per day? I know that while losing weight the dr's want the 600 to 800 calories,60 -70grams of Protein ratio but how many calories can you eat a few years down the line when you are now a thin, healthy, well adjusted, normal person? I can imagine living on such low calories for a period of time (have done it as I am a failed bandster...lol) but I remember how little energy I had for doing sport like playing squash, running, spinning class. Can you ever eat like a small, normal person and not gain weight? My adult da…

So I was pretty much in denial about how obease I'd become. Losing 10, 20, 30, even 40 pounds didn't have much of an impact; I know, every little bit helps, but I was still above 200 and people still weren't noticing any changes. At 50 and 60 pounds gone people were starting to say "have you lost a little weight?" and in my mind I was thinking - a little are you kidding me? But my response was always "yes and I have a long ways to go" after all, I was only half way there. Not until 70 and 80 pounds did it finally hit me that holy moly I've lost a LOT of weight! Now I'm at 90 pounds, and on the inside I'm so proud of myself and my accomplishment, but on the outs…

This is my first post on any forum. I am a 64 year-old male and I now weigh 286 lbs. I have just finished Kaiser's 12 week Options Program and I've udergone all of the pre-op required testing. During the Options Program they asked everyone to lose 10% of their body weight and I actually gave them a 15% loss by losing just over 50 pounds. I expect my consult with my bariatric surgeon within the next 2 weeks. I thought I was SO ready for this operation and now I'm having last minute doubts about my ability to make it work. My problem is - and always has been - habitual snacking. During the last 12 weeks I dieted sucessfully by losing the weight, but I didn't really c…

Had my surgery on Jan 30 and it's been a success so far in that I never had vomiting or nausea, have been able to get in all fluids, Vitamins and Protein every day. I'm not losing as quickly as I'd hoped, but I'm putting some of that on being pre-menstrual (I hope). My worry right now is my brain. Ever since my surgery, I have nothing but horrific, mind-bending nightmares and even a few terrors where I wake up in a panic. A few mornings, I've woken up not sure where I was or what day it is. They are like nothing I've ever had before!! And believe me, I've had some nutty dreams in the past. They are the kind that stay with you all day and mess with my mind, I know I'm de…

I'm thoroughly taking advantage of this board here, LOL! I've noticed a few of these things I wanted to know if anyone else has, some things I expected, some I didn't: sensitivity to cold-I have to sleep with a heating blanket or I wake up consistently cold, when I handle anything cold like a cold beverage, I have to literally put on gloves, feels like lightening is going through my hands and it aches-had this similar feeling with chemo. smells of food-whenever my family members are cooking-things that used to NOT bother me-do so now, makes me nauseated. tastes of food-I know this is HORRIBLE!! I taste some things and spit them out, but I don't swallow, stuff I use…

HI everyone! After 6 months trouble-free since being sleeved, maybe I was getting a little too cocky? 5 days ago, feeling fine, I ate half of a fresh coconut. I ate slowly, chewed well, and stopped long before I had any discomfort & went about my business. I have not been able to hold anything down since then! For the first 2 days, I was in agonizing stomach pain & vomiting everything I tried to eat or drink. I felt like I had a rock in my stomach. The following day I felt better but kept to liquids just to be safe & everything was fine other than still feeling like there was a lump in my stomach. The day after that (yesterday) I tried to have some c…
