I had VS surgery on 2/10/10. They discover I had leak 03/17/10. Was in hospital for 12 days NPO 8. I have Jp drain in abcess and stent in stomach. I am drinking eating very well. I have lost 80lbs. Looking for people who have the same or is going thru the the same problem.

Now I am able to eat oz of protein. Stomach fils full all the time water is slower to get in but geting it in.

Sounds like you are making progress, glad to hear it.

I am have having foamies alot lately. It feels like my stomach is full and lump in my throat. I am trying a liquid diet for few days in hopes my stomach is swollen. I can get down water and protein drinks.

Go back to your doctor Driver. Don't wait until August. You don't want to mess with recovery. Wow......90 lbs., look at you! I hope you're back on track soon.

Its been 4 months since you last updated this post. I was wondering hoe you are doing now?

I am doing great. Blood work and pressure is great. My doctors are so experienced they new what do and got me thru it. I have lost a total 129 lbs. My golf game is back and I even hit the ball better. I can play up to seven days a week. There are times regret it the because I can't take a huge bite something or eat bread. My only real problems is contistpation and heart burn but I am treating them better. I love going up to people who I havn't seen In awhile andwatch them do double take.

I'm so happy your doing better. . . i understand totally about the not being able to take a big bite of something. . .it sucks sometimes, but that is the lifestyle change we must endure. . . i eat my meals on a teacup saucer or in a small dessert nappe. . . i've been doing this for 9 months so can you imagine how i feel when i go out to eat and they bring out the food? I'm like, "ma'am, could you bring a to-go box please" most times they look at me weird and one time one said "but you haven't even started eating" but got it for me anyhow. . . hehehehe i love it:lol0: have you tried the benefiber powder? I use that along with metamucil wafers and Fiber advantage gummies. . definately don't have a problem anymore

I got my drain out today and the doc said I can play golf.

My leak was unusal as leaks go. I was six weeks out, the symtoms mimiced the flu or roto virus. They were nausa, throwing-up, back pain, stomach pain, and fever of 102 that would come and go. The day before I finally "crashed" I was at Surgerons office had no fever and I felt like I was getting over flu weak. Next day Play six holes of golf started throwing up, felt like pasting outand shaking, Ambulancewas called they thought it was my heart until describe previous symtoms to Er doc he took cat scan and found golf ball size abcess.

Its been a year and two months since leak healed and haveI lost about 140Lbs. 17 inches in waist and went from xxxl to medium shirts. Feel great most days. Breath great can walk up hills. Blood work done last month and numbers are very good, no high blood pressure. meds. Problems I have is 1. I get low blood suger shakes so I drink a coke and feel better, 2. heart burn, and 3. constipation. I can eat most everthing except bread like sandwich bread, Pasta is fine. no more than 4oz at meal. Don't crave sweets as much I eat around 2000 + excercise calories a day mostof time a little less. I do get hungry when forget to eat. No regrets.
