At my nutrition class I said I know about the whole 85% of stomach removed yada yada but how much volume does a "regular" stomach really hold.
She says that after surgery I'll be able to eat 3-5 oz. at a meal, then eventually 5-8 oz. at about a year or so.
Most hold 67-135 oz. Say huh wh...huh..whatchu. wh.. wh.. huh..what???
Yep ....
8 oz vs. 135 oz. how's that for a different perspective?
I'm still good- starting the liquid pre-op tomorrow. But, I'll tell you I was working that 67-135 at Longhorn yesterday. And loved every minute.
Now it's time to get serious and start my new life.
with a 3 oz. stomach capacity..oy

juzmejnee reacted to Ms skinniness in Curious, Did This Happen To You?... No 3 Week Stall, But A Gain!I woke up this am and decided to just weigh myself, even though I didn't expect to lose any. I got a big surprise and had gained 4 lbs over night. Yes my ring is tighter on my finger this am. LOL. I am just going to put away the scale for the week and eat healthy. Tired of the ups and downs of weigh ins.

My cycle causes a gain of about three pounds every stinking month. For me, it's normal. So if you're expecting a monthly visitor, that hag could be the one to blame.
I wouldn't fret about it unless you've made a serious change in diet or started a new medication. Maybe try to get as much Water in as possible and lower your sodium if you're concerned. But for me, at least, the journey has had lots of bumps, up and down, instead of a solid string of losses.
And on the slower loss? Everyone is different. I consider myself a slower loser. I think my best month ever was my first month and I lost 18 pounds. I never got even remotely close to that figure again. I don't know if you're guilty of this but I think so many of us focus on the amazingly fast losers - the ones that hit goal in 9 months - and we all think we're going to have the same results. I definitely chose to willfully ignore the folks that had four month stalls and who had to fight tooth and nail for a four pound loss each month when I was preparing for my surgery.
The good news is that it isn't a race, despite the fact that we're all desperate to reach goal. I hit goal after 17 months and it's fantastic to be here. I don't spend a single day being frustrated that it took me longer to get here than it took someone else!
Don't fiddle with your diet too much right now. Your body is still in shock from a major surgery and a huge lifestyle change. You've lost a large amount of weight in a very short period of time. Give yourself a break and just keep following your guidelines. You're going to lose the weight - even if you have stops and starts or ups and downs along the way.

juzmejnee reacted to Catracks in 6+ Months Out And Stalled For Last 2... Fail?Like I said, I think it BS. There is no logic in that at all. You can loose as much weight as you want to. the sleeve is still the size it is and still a tool. It doesn't magically stop working.

juzmejnee reacted to coops in Will Slow Losers Get To Goal?Yep... me too, slow loser! But that doesn't stop me!!! I will get to goal; at least my surgeon's goal and any more will be a bonus! And once I am there, I need to work on my confidence and self image... that is when the REAL GOAL kicks in... I really don't want to look at this as a time dominating thing because the sleeve, for me, is a life long commitment to a long, healthy and fitter life! So, with that said if it takes me another year, so be it!
Just as well I like the scenic route...lol
Good luck to all you on your journeys... =]

juzmejnee got a reaction from LilMissDiva Irene in One Year Later: From A "slow Loser"Thank you so much for sharing your story. You have lost 90lbs!!! Be proud of yourself!! I am a slow loser as well, have been on a stall for the past 6 weeks. I started walking again, and this week alone, i am down 3lbs. Just keep your head up, you are doing amazingly well. Talk to your doctor and see whats healthy for you. My goal weight is 125. Maybe it will change, maybe not. I think our bodies will tell us. I do enjoy food. And i do let myself enjoy the sweet stuff sometimes, in moderation. I don't deny myself what i like, because i feel like if i do, i will wake up one day and just splurge. If i allow myself in moderation, i don't feel as deprived. Hope that makes sense. Good luck to you! IMO you are doing great!!

juzmejnee got a reaction from gabby_abby in sleeved on thursday june 23rdHi all! I was finally sleeved last thursday. Woke up in recovery with a thumbs up from the nurses. I also saw my surgeons and they said everything was good. I have not had any pain, nausea. I've had very mild "gas" pains in my stomach that feel like little waves of contractions. But nothing painful. I'm home after spending 2 nights in the hospital. Amazingly my blood pressure has been normal so I've been able to cut down on my hypertension pills already. Definately bring a small pillow from home to support ur stomach if u are a side sleeper. Helps a lot! Thanks for all the prayers n supportive messages! I did get them in the hospital, my phone was just acting funny n I couldn't reply. But thank u to everyone. I'm kinda struggling with what I can eat. Was told anything that could fit through a straw. So I'm having lots of soups, which is not my fav in the first place. Any suggestions would be great !! Thanks friends! U all are so great! And we are lucky to have each others support!!! God bless!!
