I had my surgery in 2005, and I am afraid to say I haven't had much success with my band. I did have to return to Dr. office 1 year after and have band re-done due to slippage. As of today I am still close to the same weight as the day I started, the long road to getting banded. I am re-visiting surgeon to see what I can do to start on the correct path. I am also hoping by joining this blog I will get hints and a support group.

I'm sure all of us have experienced this. I want to know if any of you had the dark inner thighs? If so do it disappear after weight loss? I can't wait until the day when mine no longer touch.

The last 7 months have kind of been a blur, my dad died and my husband and I have separated. So a lot of big changes!!!! I am thankful that even without any fills I am down 87lbs in almost 14 months. And that includes loosing the 15lbs I gained after my dad died. The difference this time is I am not going to beat myself up anymore and I will concentrate on the progress...... Day before surgery Before a 5k last weekend

It's crazy to think that it has been a year already. My starting weight was 235lbs and my current weight is 175lbs. If you had asked me last year if 60lbs was a good loss in a year I probably would have said no. However, I am honestly thrilled with the progress I have made and couldn't ask for more at this point. 60lbs gone is a great feeling and one I am going to celebrate.

I knew I was approved for a sleeve gastrectomy at the end of last month, but I just got my surgery date today! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I have 3 kids, ages 8, 5 and 2. The surgery is an overnight stay. But how will I feel the following days (I'm a SAHM)? I've just started my Liver Shrinking diet. Not too bad for day 1. One of my other concerns is that my blood pressure was high at my last appointment. Not too sure if it was nerves or what, but I'm concerned about it. I'm normally not high, so will this affect my surgery? I've been reading everyone's tips and experiences, and was wondering what the best advice you can give me.

For those of you who live more on the west side of the US where Safeway stores are or if your local stores in your area carry Lucerne brands, Lucerne low fat frozen yogurt is absolutely excellent!! I am not kidding. They only make a hand full of flavors but they are fabulous. And the price is so very affordable. I got some today on sale 2/$5.00 and the regular price is $2.99 for the large size which is 1.5 quart. It contains 0.5 grams of fat, 14 grams of sugar, and 4 grams of Protein per 1/2 cup...............WOW!! I couldn't wait to share this info I am currently enjoying the Black Cherry chocolate Chip and it is heavenly. I am 4 weeks post op as of today and so happ…

So glad I found this app. I had my sleeve done in April 2013. I have lost 85 pounds And this is the best thing I've ever done for myself. Two weeks after surgery I was inner tubing with my grandchildren. I've had no major problems at this time except for constipation. I'm working out now and feeling good. At 53 life is good again.

I guess it's time for my first post! I have been on here daily for a while now. I've just been absorbing all the information and getting prepared for my new exciting reality! My name is Diane and I am married with five children and one grand baby (ages 3 grand baby, 11,13,15,16 and 21)! Years of taking care of everyone but me has ended up with me being overweight/ tired/scared/embarrassed/insecure/bad knees/and ready to get myself back! After a few years of watching my husband go through some serious health issues ( unrelated to weight)it has gotten really clear that I need to be at my best so that I can secure the future me and my family deserves! I was never overweight…

This month marks my 7th month, the hunger and snacking demons feel like they are kicking into full gear! The weight loss has stalled for a week (2nd time for me) and I remember freaking out before during my last stall. So my question is should I expect this stall to break on it's ow. Or should I adjust my diet??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Granted, due to the severe weather conditions I have been unable to get out and workout like I'd like, but I have continued to do some indoor activities. I also measure my food 2ounces per meal and calories <700

I started my journey one year ago with my pre surgery insurance meetings with my NUT. Had surgery June 4th, hit 100 pounds yesterday. The first picture is from a year ago and the other is this morning. Started at 285, this morning I'm at 184. Just can't believe that's me.

So I just had surgery to remove my ten yr old broken lap band and do a revision to a sleeve. Had my surgery at Laredo medical center with Dr Michael Morris. Love him!!! Hated the hospital. Had a hernia fixed and gallbladder removed at the same time. Doc said surgery lasted three hours because I had a ton of scar tissue he had to dig out I can sure feel it too. My weight just before surgery was 222 lbs and I'm 5'1" I had BCBS of Tennessee and they required I lose ten percent which I did but it took nine months to do so. So day one Dec 31st. It's 24 hours past my surgery. They took me down to check for a leak this morning. All clear! They told me I can start on Clear li…

Ok I am 3 weeks until my sleeve. My pre-op diet starts in 1 week. I am trying to just watch what I eat this week in preparation for my pre-op diet. I am starting to get really nervous about the actual surgery. I am not nervous about the post op diet or changes, I am ready for it. I am just scared about the surgery. Any suggestions to help me get through the next 3 weeks?

Long story short. My insurance company is horrible and so was the hospital I was going through. Two years later and three appeals, two rounds of pre-op tests and two consults, I'm starting over with a new surgeon and new hospital. Today I had my first set of appointments. The difference with this hospital is amazing. First of all they got me in right away instead of making me wait up to an hour like the previous. The psych appointment was actually helpful and not just a series of six questions. I felt like I had a therapy appointment not just a five minute list of questions. The dietician was very nice and friendly. I got to stay in one place the whole time instea…

Howdy! It seems I signed up for this site after finally reading enough to see that this is where I belong. I was banded 5 weeks ago and haven't had any major issues except for hunger. I weighed 315 when I decided to make a go of this. I had recently been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (AHA of 161.5 for those of you playing along at home). I weighed 318.6 at my highest and next to last pre-op appt with my surgeon. I lost 10 lbs as required by him before surgery; however, the day I went in for surgery I was back up to 317 -- Water weight for sure. After surgery I dropped the weight and the water weight and went down to 306 really fast. Like lightning fast. …

Today it has been exactly four months and nine days since my Sleeve on June 5, 2013. I have lost 88 lbs., 12 Pants Sizes, 2 Shirt Sizes, 1 full Shoe Size and 14 pills! I am so very happy I made this decision. I am amazed at the transformation not just of my body but of the abilities I now have and the goals I have reached. BS (Before Sleeve) I was using a walker to do any walking at all. I could not shower without a shower chair, I could not go shopping in stores without automatic carts, I only left my house to go to the Dr. I could not stand up long enough to cook meals anymore, I had a full time caretaker, I could not clean or do laundry, I didn't drive unless I had…

So it's been a month since surgery and I can't complain besides not being able to go to the bathroom. So like everyone who recommended I bought milk of magnesia. I had it 2 weeks ago and I gagged horribly. But it did help using the bathroom. 2 nights ago I took it before I went to bed since I am at work and school all day. Once again I gagged washed my teeth and the taste went away. This night I had nightmares about food. I was eating lots of pizza(my favorite) and kept telling myself wow this is not hurting my sleeve.. Then I started eating lots and lots of sweets. OMG they all tasted sooo good.. I can't remember exactly the last dream but I woke up because I almost choc…

Hi all! My name is Stephanie and I was sleeved on January 29th, 2014. Today I am 6 days post op and feeling ok. I only spent 2 days in the hospital and had no complications. Gas was my biggest problem and still is. Wish it would go away! My stomach is really messing with my head by gurgling and growling ALL DAY LONG. I feel hungry, so I eat. Most of the time eating makes me sick. No problems with Water or sugar free Powerade, etc., but I will crave something more substantial and be sorry I ate a creamy Soup. So back to water and then I get hungry again and it starts all over. I'm confused whether it's head hunger, why I feel hungry...all that. Energy level is ok and to…

Hi everyone - this is my first post but I have been very encouraged by all the amazing information you all have to give. I am 27, almost 28 and have been morbidly obese my entire life. I can remember being the chubby girl in daycare when I was only 4 years old! Being a fairly active child and being involved in sports throughout my entire adolescence, I never understood why I was so overweight. During my college years I actually lost a bit of weight (down to about 250lbs at my lowest) and felt awesome. But as soon as I got a big girl office job the weight started to pile on. I am currently at my highest weight and still can't believe I am so big. Unfortunately the last 5…

Today is my one-week surgery anniversary. Praise The Lord, I had zero complications and never took a pain med after I left the hospital. Hi guess what does anyone else have nightmares about eating the wrong foods sometimes I dream I ate an Italian hero from a deli and dreamed that I really enjoyed the Italian hero bread about the sandwich. Basically I have nightmares about eating fatty carbs and carbs that I can't or shouldn't eat. I swear nightmares like that are like a relapse or something it feels so real. when i wake up i realize i was only dreaming.

Hi! I am Stacey age 29, female. My highest weight was 308 on 1/3/14. This was the day I met my surgeon Dr. Duperior. I was cash pay since I knew my insurance wouldn't cover. I immediately the day after got the flu, which terrified me because I was scared that I wouldn't make my surgery date if they scheduled appts for me during this week. Well, it helped kick start the weight loss and I started my 2 week pre op diet the next week. It was so hard! I just wanted a burger! Lol I did all of my pre op required testing and appointments. Surgery got scheduled for 1/27. I lost 17 lbs pre-op, and now that i am 8 days out, I have lost 11 more since surgery for a total of 28 lbs in …

Last February 4, I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Like many, I had tried and failed every diet I ever went on. My weight was at an all time high and my health was being affected. Despite the protests of many that I “wasn’t fat enough” or “should try to lose weight the old fashioned way”, I chose to self-pay and have weight loss surgery. I’ve surpassed even my wildest goal. “Top 10” list of what I learned: 1) Weight loss surgery is no silver bullet. I thought I would lose weight quickly. I thought I wouldn’t be hungry along the way. I thought I could eat smaller portions of the same old food. Nope, nope and nope. The weight came off slowly and inconsistent…

All my life I was kind of stepped on. I was the fat friend and I accepted that role. I'm not the first invited to parties, I'm not the one guys have the hots for and so that made me take a backseat on life. If something happened, I avoided confrontation and moved on. If I felt like I got the shit end of the deal, I just move on. I dont start drama, because no one like the fat, loud, complaining woman. If people make remarks about me, I dont confront and move on. If I don't get invited, I move on. I'm sick and tired of this! I don't want this backseat role in life anymore. If I feel happy, I want to show it. If I feel hurt, I want to show it. If I feel angry, I want to s…

Started my journey in July, I was hoping to be banded in Nov... My insurance was not on board. After several hoops and months I finally have a date for Feb 11. Although exited I am anxious about the pre op & post op liquid diet. I've been on many diets and feel I can restrict myself for awhile. But 4 weeks of clear liquids only- I'm not sure I can handle. Any advice to help relive this anxiety.

I had my lapband surgery in August and it's now Febuary. I started out at 222 pounds and now weight 188. 6 months and 34 pounds. Was hoping for a little better than that but I still have no restriction. I go monthly for a fill but the doctor never gives me more to .4 or .5 cc's at a time. I'm now at 6 CC's in my band and still have no significant results. Occasionally I think it's working but not sure. I work out 3 times a week and try to keep my calories down to less than 1500 a day. I do have a bad thyroid and am on hormone supression therapy due to a bout of breast cancer and I'm 53 so maybe I just have to keep chugging away, be patient, and not give up. I'm go…

Things are moving along for me quickly. I go Tuesday morning for the scope (dreading), and then I have 1 more visit with surgeon, nutrition, exercise guy, and counselor. Also a visit with my family doc for surgery clearance. Then it's submit to insurance and hopefully show time. I'm hoping for March 7 because I'm a teacher and want to use spring break for recovery. I'm excited still but my nerves are beginning to try and get to me. I've been trying to read everything I can about the surgery and potential complications. I came across a very disturbing blog from someone who is so anti-bariatric surgery and talks a lot about post-bariatric surgery syndrome, etc. and it also …
