Hello all. So I'm having a hard time adapting to the newfound attention. Obviously it's excited and flattering but a part of me is saddened by it. It's bittersweet that it took me losing 80 pounds to be treated so well. It took losing 80 pounds for women and men alike to compliment me. Don't get me wrong, I always had a certain presence and swagger (not trying to sound arrogant) but now it's quite ridiculous. I can't go anywhere without someone speaking to me, complimenting me, approaching me. It's overwhelming. I don't know how to receive it at times. I'm always polite and smile and say thank you. But sometimes I wish I could blend in a little. I wish people appreciated …

Hello my beautiful loves! Hope everyone is having a beautiful day! We're almost to the weekend. So as of late I've received several inquiries and personal messages regarding my journey and experience. It's so motivating and inspiring! I love sharing with any and all what I've learned along the way. So I wanted to extend the opportunity to all that are interested to follow me on Instagram or FB. I went public with my decision to be sleeved the day of surgery and it's been an amazing adventure. I track more on there than anything and I'm actually thinking of starting a page for this exclusively. IG: 1PRQueen FB: Lydia De La Luz

Thanks to many on the board I knew life with insurance companies is not easy. I have CareFirst BCBS in Maryland but apparently my mental health stuff is farmed out to Magellan. I got a referral for my psych eval from the surgeon last week. Had it all set up only to find out they don't participate with Magellan and the self pay amount was $865. No thanks. So like a good girl I get online and look up the list of providers. I start calling around: "Hi, I need to have a psychological evaluation done to determine my readiness and fitness for weight loss surgery. Can you do that?" The standard response: "Sure, but what exactly do you need?" I called CareFirst an…

Hey everyone. I'm new to this whole procedure, while I have not had the surgery yet, still in the class process, I'm really excited! I have too many medical issues that prevent me from losing weight and exercising so I've decided to get this procedure done. I think I'm one of the few people that are not a plus size from over eating. Try explaining that to a dr. They all think people are over weight from food! If anyone has any advise to give id be more than happy to listen

Tomorrow I am going to all liquid diet. I am scheduled for surgery on 3/10/2014. I am pretty freaked out about only consuming protein shakes for the next 4 weeks. I am very excited but worried about how I will do emotionally during the next month. I hope I can keep it together.

Yesterday, as I was getting dressed for a doctors appointment, I noticed that my favorite comfortable pants (my yoga pants - whole 'nother story - love, love, love yoga pants) were dangerously close to falling off my hips.....which was not the case just last week while stalling. Also, my favorite blouse just felt sloppy. So, I put something else on, which ALSO felt strangely loose, but was not in danger of causing a social embarrassment. When I went to put my coat on, it very clearly felt like a stranger's coat. So then, I went to my storage closet and pulled out a wool coat that my boyfriend had bought me three years (and 50 extra pounds ago on my already obese b…

Here are my midway pics. The ones in my purple shirt are from last August before I started my program. Gastric sleeve was 12/23/2013 The pics in my brown top and black pants are from my halfway point at minus 49 pounds / 51 to go, Taken on 2/23/2014, exactly two months post op. Belly is still resisting, although 3" smaller, but you can tell that my face, arms, and chest and thighs are smaller And I am starting to get ribs and a waist. The wedding picture shows you how thin I was in 1970 (108 pounds on my wedding day). Look at those too thin bony arms! My goal weight is 135.

I feel like today is the first day of the rest of my new life! That great feeling overshadows anything negative about all liquids (so far. ) I took all my measurements last night and took time to gather all my necessities for work this week so I feel I'm prepared. Surgery is March 10th, barring any insurance issues. Good luck to all! Who else is a March 10 buddy?

Well I went yesterday for my first appointment. BMI 36.1, so I meet that requirement (remember I have diabetes and high triglycerides). Met with the endocrinologist (for diabetes) I have to get my blood sugar down under a 8A1C, currently at 9.3, had a ton of blood work done, met with nutritionist, and a surgery coordinator. Dr told me I have a 90-95% chance of leaving the hospital without my insulin pump! How awesome that will be! The surgery coordinator, gave me a list of requirements for my insurance. One BIG problem.....I have to give a 3 year weight history, well I have that, but I having not been over a 35 BMI for 3 years. My BMI blow up after being put on insulin…

Hello! My name is Debra and tomorrow, February 26th my band will be 5 years old. I started this journey at 349 pounds. At one point during my journey I had lost 114, right now I'm at 65 lost. Sadly I've gained almost 50 pounds back Some of the reason is I've had 3 surgeries since my lap-band was put in place. Therefore all Fluid is removed for recovery. I've also flown to Germany and back with most fluid removed since the middle of December. I am such a food-aholic that I simply go nuts when I know I have no restrictions from food!! I made it through the holidays without gaining but latey OH BOY....I'm like a shark - always searching for food. My next fill is in March. N…

I went to my last nutrition class. I was told by the staff that the Lap band surgery that I was thinking about having, has poor results and how Medicare doesn't like to cover for complications like port slips or erosion. So they said I should have the sleeve. Less follow up visits. the band is like a belt, hard to get it right. I tried to check with Medicare to check about the band, and got no where. I know I need to have weight loss surgery, but which surgery should I have?

I was just sleeved on Friday, Feb, 21, 2014. I spent the night in the hospital and was released. Its not so bad. Well, currently is like almost 2:30 sunday morning, I'm restless and cant sleep. My insides are burbling and rumbling with gas, but I have my heft load of Gas X to help there. I hate the drainage tube. Thats the only thing on me that really hurts. I do need the pain reliever for it. Coughing and what not arent so bad as long as I hold a pillow over my stomach area for support. I'm so happy to be in the comfort of my own home again. No nurses come in every so often taking vitals and blood sugar. No IV. And I was a lucky one...no catheter! I'm moving around…

Hello everybody, my name is Nicole. I had surgery on 2-24-14. My doctor uses out patient hospital services so I got to come home @ 10pm. This is most definitely one of the most important choices I've ever made. And I don't mind sounding quite selfish because in fact I did it all for ME! My stats: 5'6 S/W 272 C/W 254 G/W 140ish I lost 12lbs in the 2 week preop diet, which was basically the Atkins diet, I was only aloud 40 grams of carbs a day, and had to achieve at least grams of Protein a day. I cut out all caffeine, alcohol and carbonated bevs when I started even though I didn't have, I just made it a lot easier n…

Hi everyone! I started my pre op diet yesterday. I also had my class. I got my vitamins and shakes and was told that I have to take the vitamins forever and have to get the vitamins from them. They are 25.00 a month. My question is, why would I have to get my vitamins from them? My husband and I are not to happy about that. Also I was told I can't have Atkins protein shakes and I have to have theirs! My husband did comparisons and the same ingredients are in each! Is anyone else going through this?

Does anyone still have a lot of pain 3 weeks post op. my surgeon said that it should get better in a week that was last week. I am starting to get concerned with how much pain I'm in. I can't bend down and pick something up off the floor. And I have to be really careful when I am getting up and down out of bed or a chair. I starting to wonder of there is anything wrong with the muscle.

Hi, my name is Jessica. I am a married 33 year old SAHM of a 13 1/2 month old little girl and uterine cancer survivor. On Valentines day my MIL and I both had gastric sleeve surgery, so we are 10 days out. I am so tired of this liquid diet. Ok, the liquids aren't that bad. The protein shakes are atrocious and I'm not sure how much longer I can gag them down. I have always had a problem with "fake" sweeteners so I think the headache is from them. I lost 11 pounds in the 5 day pre diet surgery and have lost 14 more pounds. I weighed 286 before the pre liquid diet and am currently at 261. I have 0 appetite though I am always thirsty and am constantly sipping water. I can't s…

Since starting with this process I've realized that there are some things I need and want to change about myself. My list of things are not only physical but emotionally too. Physical- I need to start working out and working on my problem areas. I need to have my varicose veins looked at on my legs cause they are getting pretty bad. Also be better organized to improve my daily routine. Emotional- Be stronger! Learn to say NO and not feel guilty about it afterwards. Learn that other people's problems are their own not mine to fix! Where there or is there any on your list of things to improve and what is it? Did the band make you re-evaluate your life not only wi…

I had a fill done on Febuary 17th. I'm now up to 6.5 CC's in my band. In the last three or four days, I have noticed that during the day, my band is tight and I have to make sure i chew everything really good or else it will get stuck. I have gotten stuck 3 times in the last few days and don't like it at all. Yesterday I was out to lunch with my daughter and got stuck and had to go the the restroom and throw up! That was a first and hopefully last! That being said, at night I am still able to eat any and all I want. I can still eat 5oz of meat and a whole cup of vegtables. Was wondering if this is my sweet spot or do I need to have another fill and just make sure I chew a…

Who am I: Tanya Danielle How much do I weigh: 245 Highest weight. 255 Most recent surgery date. 3/4/14 So, my weight has been an issue as long as I can remember, probably since I was 12 years old. Name the diet, I've it. I had good success with phentermine and South Beach. They all work as long as you follow them! Fastforward to july 2010 when I had a Lap Band. I NEVER had success and in fact had many issues. One in particular had me thinking I would die from chocking (literally chocking, eyes watering, not breathing). I had it removed November 2013 and was hoping to have bypass at that time but the bad was severely infected(surgeon said he has never seen an…
