I said goodbye to Chinese food today. Nothing I think I will want again except maybe some wonton soup ...so that's good. I've been allowing once a week to eat a goodbye meal. I'm dreading saying goodbye to Indian food. Has anyone actually been able to eat spicy food after. I mean like post op a year? It's not actually bad for you it's grilled chicken and spices..either way I'll miss it.

  8. Hi Everyone! It's been awhile since I posted. Living life happily as the skinny me. I've officially lost now 100lbs since my surgery on Feb 19. It's been less than 6 months. Just want to give some inspiration. Height: 5'4" Start weight: 230 Current weight: 130 (In high school I was 140!) Shirt size: XXL Current: S/M Pant size: 16/18, XL (stretch or yoga pants) Current: 7, S (stretch or yoga pants) Bra size: 40DD Current: 36 C I'm very fortunate to not have a lot of loose skin. My stomach is the worse area but I keep that covered. I've had 4 kids so I don't expect that to be great. My current pics aren't that good because my new house doesn't have …

Found an old WL journal I kept in 2007 and 2008. Except I started from 288 as my high weight instead of 314. I made a list of reasons I wanted to lose weight and they are all true except now I have 2 kids so those 2 would be the first 2. Funny how nothing much has changed in 7 years except a higher weight. Same reasons and same back and forth. Except this time I am taking a new measure and getting banded.

hi. I had the lapband 7 years ago, initially I thought it was great. problems came up, I lost 38 # and then no progress, slow regain, bulemia, leaking port. due to other issues it took about 3 years to come to the place of replacing it with the gastric sleeve.we removed the band and I am recovering from all that. the biggest problem has been gastric reflux and intermittently, overacid stomach despite various meds and acid blockers. I just want to check in and say hi. I am very happy to be again in "onederland" and finally see my clothes too damm big. love sara

Hi Everyone. I had my gastric bypass July 31st 2014. I am so happy I came across this forum so I can talk to other folks who also know what I'm going through. I am from Philadelphia PA. My pain 8 days out is MUCH better. My main struggle now is drinking Protein shakes, That taste and smell horrible to me. I asked my nephew and brother to take a sip of my Protein shake and they both said how good it was. I was shocked. I was NEVER a picky eater (I've eaten mealworms, fireflies, raw octopus etc) The one thing I am starting to contribute this to is my heightened sense of smell since the surgery. I can smell everything. Has anyone else had this problem? Does it go away?…

  13. I have been over weight since I was 6 years old. As a child my mother said I had unusual eating habits. I remember always feeling hungry. My mother tried to limit my food intake, and mostly provided healthy choices for our family to eat (she did not starve us we still had treats). I do not remember but I was told I would sneak food and hide it. I was mildly over weight up until I moved out of my parents house. At that point my weight sky rocketed to 289 lbs because of poor meal choices, and stayed that way for a few years. I decided to try to loose weight and did loose 55 lbs on my own, but then I became pregnant with my first child. I had a stressful pregnancy and did no…

Hi everyone I have been low key about myself since my sleeve, on July 30th. Surgery day was awesome. In/out surgery 1 hour 1/2 total. Truly, I had some difficulties for the first couple of nights. But was released to go home this past Saturday. Besides being sore (norm) the incision areas are "itchy" & healing well. Family is helping. But nothing like mommas' help around the house. I am well on my way now! Woo-hoo!!

I started the whole process in Jan 2013. Finished all requirements that insurance and dr wanted so he turned the paper work in on July 3 on July 11 my insurance denied me because of weight gain during the 6 months of pcp diet. On wed July 16 Dr. Eibes of Iowa speciality Hospital called and did a peer to peer with the medical director of Aetna and convinced them that the sleeve is what I needed. Dr eibes said it was a long call and pretty tough but finally they approved my surgery. Got home and got a call from Medical coordinator and dietician and got my date. Went on my 1200 calorie diet on Thursday the 17th and dropped 11 pounds. Had to do liquid diet sat and sun and sur…

But I NEVER had the shoulder pain from the gas. In the past few days my stomach has begun allowing 1/4C of food an increase of 2 T! I still get full really fast. At my last appointment chicken & fish were added back! I still drink one Protein shake a day, other wise my protein total is too low! I was able to sleep in my bed on my back for the first month. Now I can lie on my side. I'm able to walk 1/2 mile/day. I'm slowly returning to good health! I had o…

Well, I did it! I hit 199 today. My surgery date was March 18, 2014, so it took me about 4.5 months to reach this point. I have about another 50ish pounds to get to my goal and now have the confidence to know that I can do it. I couldn't be happier with my progress. This surgery has been such a blessing for me. I am healthier, so much more active and feeling better than I have in years. This forum has been a wonderful place for support. I have plenty of support from the few family members and friends that know I had the surgery, but having this site has been extremely helpful. Thank you everyone! I'll post pics eventually. . .

I got the results back from the tests I took Friday and Monday, and everything is good. A little fatty deposit on the liver, which the doc says will go away as I continue to follow my pre-op diet. All I have left now is the endoscopy and the colonoscopy, and two more weighins, the last one in the middle of September, before they will send my paperwork to the insurance company for approval. If you read my last post about all the trouble I had during the testing (I have veins (and arteries, it seems) that are difficult to get blood from ), check out this picture, one week later, of my poor arm. I'm a happy girl today.

  40. Friday I went to the hospital for the bulk of my remaining preop testing. I came out 4 hrs later a blubbering mess. First I had a gallbladder ultrasound. No problem there. Then I needed to have a blood gas done, and they take the blood out of your artery. It took them four tries in two different places to find one on me, and the very first one they did, in my wrist, went so close to a nerve that I literally screamed and almost passed out from the pain. Understand that I am a type 1 diabetic for over 20 years, and am very used to being pricked, and very very good at not moving, and I never scream. The woman finally asked another technician to try, and he got it af…

I've been doing a lot of research online but I find it better to see what people have to say who've actually gone through the process. I currently have a BMI of 40.3 and my insurance is through United Health Care Choice Plus in Texas. I'm curious as to how quickly they could possible approve me. I'm very nervous about this but very hopeful.
