Hi new here! Surgery date was 7/13/16, lost 10lbs right away and have SLOWLY only lost 5 more lbs. I'm a "light weight" I guess, so people say it goes slower but STILL! I'm 5'1" (current BMI is 32.9) SW: 189.4 CW: 174 I exercise every single day (walking 1-2 miles typically), lift small weights every other day, getting 50-60 grams of Protein a day and about 50-60 ounces of Water per day (that's harder to do). I can't eat a lot at a time, so I'm not overeating. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? Is this normal because I have less to lose? It's so discouraging and I'm worried I did all of this to only lost 15lbs Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So in the first month I loss the half of what they require of me to lose. Surgeon would like me to lose more and so do I. But as of lately I have no ambition no motivation because it hurts so much to move. I lost the weight last month by monitoring what I put in my mouth only. But I pray I'm able to get these knee injections because then I'll be able to do resulting in me losing more weight. What can I do to get start my motivation again to want to lose weight? Even though the weight that I've lost (10 lbs.) is no where near where I want to be. I weigh 417 standing at 5'6" please any advise would be helpful. determined1LD

I know its not meant to come off as such - but you have people who at the most have maybe 5-10 pounds to loose and they are talking about how hard it is to loose weight - what an effort and struggle - then they look at you and say - you know what I mean. I know they aren't trying to be rude or hurtful - they all have their own story and struggles - but when you have these tiny little people going on about their weight issues and then compare it to my struggle - I find it so irritating and annoying - anyone else have experience with anything similar and how do you respond to them - I find my self biting back sarcasm when they do this

Thought I'd start a thread for those that are having their surgery July 26th so we can all vent/compare how we are feeling at each stage of the journey. How is everyone feeling at this point? I keep getting this question: Are you stressed or excited? My answer is both! Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App

I have been so excited to have the sleeve surgery done! But now my anxiousness is getting the best of me. One second I am really excited for this lifestyle change, but the next I get sad that I won't get to have a big portion of food ever again. I think this pre op all liquid diet is getting the better of me, and it's only day 4!

Hello! I'm new here and scheduled to have my surgery on October 10th. My surgeon has me on a special diet of products sold through their office that add up to 800 calories a day, very high in Protein. But no vegetables. I was told they aren't allowed because they stay in the intestines a very long time and could still be in there at the time of surgery if incorporated them into my diet now. I can't find any information that states it stays in there that long. Has anyone been told that before? I want to do the right thing but I'm skeptical! Thank you! Hi all, I am looking into surgery but for the liquid diet phase I am really nervous as when I go without food for too long, like half a day I get shakey and out of it feeling. I am worried about how I can do a liquid phase without my body shutting down? Also long term after surgery having to do liquids will I continue to be super weak and shakey the whole time!? Did anyone else have this worry and how did you handle it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi I am with Kaiser. I've asked the surgeon at my first class if I would have to have sleep study or endoscopic testing? He said no. I've been reading on the forums about everyone having all these tests. Should I be worried that these tests are not being preformed? I am 49 yrs. 5'3 and weigh 243. Good evening everyone! Yesterday I got the great news that I have been approved for the sleeve! It was submitted on the 6th and approved yesterday (the 12th). Today, I received a call from the office to schedule and I'm all set for October 3rd! I can't believe I'm in the home stretch now. It seems like yesterday that I went to my seminar. Now here I am 6 months later with my surgery in just under 3 weeks. I start my 2 week liquid diet on Monday, which just so happens to be my birthday! Even though I now have to celebrate a day early, this is the best present I could have ever gotten!

I have been to 2 weight loss clinics and decided on 1. They were horrible and I finished all of my requirements but I just couldn't deal with the way myself and others were treated so I switched to a different place and I love it. My problem is that the new place I am going through is stating that my insurance requires medically supervised diet which I thought I went to with a registered dietitian at the old place and even some with my pcp. I'm going crazy over this because I have all my other requirements completed. When I spoke with blue shield they have told me that it could be with a registered dietitian and it will still count. I've asked them to submit to insurance …

So its the final stretch. I didn't do so hot on my liquid only diet. No major gorging but a few slip ups primarily 2-4 Oz of chicken 3 different days, 1cup of rice, a slice of toast. Howdy, Friends: I'm in the process of getting approved and I'm finding that I'm catching a lot of grief about not being "fat enough" to get weight loss surgery. I'm 32 years old, 5'6'', 275 lbs, BMI of 44.4 with a sleep apnea diagnosis. I've told a handful of people of my intentions, and I'm finding that these folks are saying "why are you getting surgery? You're not that fat/unhealthy!" My first mental response is "well, you aren't that polite!" but I'd like to be armed with a little bit more data. What's the median BMI for gastric sleevers? Am I really not "fat enough", or can I throw a stat out there showing that I am indeed an ideal candidate for this surgery…

I'm scheduled for this Wednesday (gastric sleeve) and I have a f*cking cold right now! Yesterday was the worst of the symptoms, slight fever and bad congestion. Today it seems better but have not kicked it yet. I'm in the 2 week liquid diet phase so I've been sucking down lots of Water, hot broth and caffine free tea....as well as extra Vitamins like zinc and Vitamin c. I have been using a saline spray & running a super hot shower several times a day and walking on the treadmill to try and sweat it out. everything but Tylenol is on the pre-surgery banned list for this week. I'm hoping as it's Saturday that will give me enough time to recover before Wednesday. I …

As I'm sure many of you have all done before being sleeved i've watched every video, read every forum and talked to as many people as possible. I finally have an orientation day Nov 30th, 2016 though the Ontario Netwrok which means i will hopefully be approved and not have to pay, along with having a support network. Anyways I ask about diet because i was watching a you-tuber last night and she was talking about how she fell off the wagon, and has gotten back on using weight watchers. Now I know that the sleeve isn't any miracle, but I've failed at weight watchers, Dr. Bernstein, low carb and may diets before. I'm trying to change my eating habits, but i still make w…

I couldn't find anything when I searched using the term "melatonin," so I thought I would put this question out there. (And I am going to call and double check with my surgeon's staff tomorrow, I just wanted some opinions now to satisfy my curiosity...) Do I need to stop taking a melatonin supplement to help with sleep 10 days before the surgery? The pre-op notes from the hospital only mentioned that I should stop taking Phentermine at 14 days pre-op and anti-inflammatory drugs at 10 days pre-op. If anyone has any insight, I would appreciate it!

Hey everyone. I had my gastric sleeve appt with my surgeon today and was under the impression that I could do payment plans since my insurance will not under any circumstances cover the surgery. So now I'm forced to do self pay. I have no idea where I'm gonna get $15,000. I can't even get a loan because I'm still working on my credit. My only option was to ask my grandparents because they have a lot of money and I'm praying my grandpa says yes. My grandma said she would in a heartbeat but she needs his blessing.... I'm just feeling really down. My parents can't help me because they are financially struggling as well. And I'm going to have to get a second job to pay back…

I have one appointment left before they will submit to insurance. My insurance did not require the 6 months of appointments with the nutritionist, just 2 years weight history, documented weight loss fails, blood work, and bmi over 40 or 35-40 with 1 comorbidity. At my initial consult I had a bmi of 41, and I am on medication for high blood pressure, gerd, and have arthritis. I have a letter from my obgyn and primary care recommending surgery due to my current health and my family history of heart disease and diabetes sleep apnea etc. The only thing I have for documented weight loss is a personal statement. I never did any doctor supervised diets, or diet pills. Hoping th…

Hi everyone. So I start my.liquid diet this thursday, surgery October 6th. I have been feeling extremely emotional. I'm not having second thoughts today just kind of "grieving" in a sense. I'm reminiscing about all the diets and exercise plans I've started and stopped, all the years I've spent being over weight, etc. It brings tears to my eyes thinking about everything I've ever done to lose weight even as far as driving 8 hours to Ohio for a biggest loser audition. I'm emotional I think because I think this is it. I think i have finally found the one tool that will give me the life I've dreamed of. Its so surreal to think it's so within reach. I have been nervou…

Hi all 1st post from me, so be gentle I am booked for my VSG and hernia repair in December and I am interested to know if anyone had their gallbladder removed at the same time as their VSG and was it as simple as just requesting this with your Surgeon........I just don't want to have to go under again and would just prefer the one stop chop approach...........also has anyone in Melbourne been sleeved by Peter Nottle and if so any feedback would be welcomed. These are the last two things I have to have done before I see the surgeon again for a reassessment and approval. He wanted a cardiac clearance, which they did the EKG and an ultrasound of my heart. I go Tuesday for a stress test. I have a heel spur on my left heel that bothers me quite a bit, but I guess I will have to push through the pain on the treadmill. I know I can do it, it is just not knowing what to expect. And I go next Friday for my Endoscopy. So hopefully in October I can see the doctor and get the ball rolling even further. We are hoping to at least have the surgery done in December. Wow am I nervous now that it is getting to the last parts of my to do list.…
