It won't be long and it'll be time to pack for the hospital. For those who've had their surgery would you please share what was essential? I'm an 'overpacker' by nature but don't want to take a lot of stuff I'm not going to need/use. I know it's going to be important to walk around so what would you suggest to wear? Doesn't seem that anything with a waistband would be wise. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello All! Has anyone gotten their vitamins and supplements through their insurance? My nutritionist and surgeon sent in a prescription to my insurance for "Nutrition DIrect". With insurance they are $25 a month and mailed directly to my house each month. They were recommended because of their B12 nasal spray. I am very curious to see how this all works out. They will be sent the week before surgery, so everything will be good to go. Very curious to see if other RNYers have dealt with them.

So tomorrow I go to see my bariatric doctor.. I am pretty freaking nervous. I've completed every step so far to get to the point of surgery. I've been working hard, monitoring my eating. It never fails though, every Monday, I am heavier than I was the past Friday. I had a requirement of losing 10% of my highest weight. Currently I'm at 31 of 38 pounds lost. I am really happy about the progress I've made but at the same time I'm frustrated that this keeps happening. Friday I was 1 pound away from goal and seemingly "gained" 7 pounds over the weekend (which I know isn't a true realistic gain either). I'm stressing out a lot and working out even harder, limiting my calorie i…

Hi, I've lurked on this site a lot and I do need some positivity to push me through, 3 more monthly weigh-ins until they submit to insurance! I've done all the appointments, now just have to wait out the 3 long months. Do any of you have any dieting tips? I'm a binge eater, but I've been in therapy since February 2011. I get mad urges at night as I'm a night owl. But I'm resisting. More and more I can feel myself more lighter than usual. I'd say that's a plus! I hope you all are having a wonderful day! Hello everyone here is my story and questions and concerns about the lap band thank you for listening and hopefully guiding me through a life altering decision. Well, first my name is Brandon I reside in Ohio.I have psychiatric issue's such as severe social anxiety, general anxiety, and OCD but not the typical OCD mine is in my head, I often obsess about the bad things that have happened in my life and it usually puts me in a severe depression this started in my early 20's. But as time went on I can deal with it much better where I can still function at a high level. But as of right now I just basically suffer from a very low self-esteem! I am a v…

Hello everyone I just found this website! A little about me, I have been overweight since 8 years old. I have tried working out and diets for the last 20 odd years and with no luck have gained to a max of 435lbs. I am healthy other wise and pretty active. I started this weight loss journey for RNY July 2016 and got my Surgery date for August 28, 2017... but just got a call for a cancellation for June 5 or 19th ahhhh, so soon!! I am excited and nervous at the same time, I will know in 2 hours what date I will get. I had my Gal bladder removed in 2014 - so I have experienced Dumping syndrome since then if I have sugary/high fat foods. …

I have been researching gastric bypass since November 2016. My surgery is less than 2 months from now. I was somewhat familiar with it before then but not fully educated on it. What I am learning as time goes by is that reading posts on this site, viewing youtube videos plus the research I do on my own & taking notes is so beneficial. The more information I surround myself with and comprehending that information makes me feel more secure with my decision to have the surgery. Learning the possible outcomes whether it be a complication a rare complication and or what is normal gives me a sense of awareness that will help if I encounter anything post op and or during rec…

To all the people who say "this is the easy way out." You are all full of crap! This has been hard for me. However, I would not change a thing. I am healthier. The results surpassed every diet and weight loss trick I tried over 5 years. It is a personal choice. There are risk. Make the decision for yourself. Your body your life! Cheers to your success!

Well I'm through all the pre-cert stuff. Had my Pysch eval - guess I'm not crazy and Nutritional eval. Took about a week for my insurance to approve. Over all from first call to office took about a month to get the that point. Then had my consult with the doc and surgery date is July 12th. Have a pre surgery thing on June 12th that includes upper GI - Labs and Pre surgery class. I have to do a two week liquid diet (which include cottage cheese and yogurt - seems weird) before surgery with the day before being all clear liquids plus that lovely magnesium stuff the night before too. yuck. So glad things are flowing along. Still nervous and working on new life habits. Th…

I am less than one week away from starting my liquid diet. Less than two weeks away from surgery. I have honestly been looking forward to this liquid diet because I know it will jumpstart me and help me lose a little bit of weight before surgery. I feel very prepared both mentally and with a stocked pantry. However, I hear the struggles here of others during their liquid diet, (so maybe I'm wrong and I'm going to struggle?) so I'd like to ask for tips and tricks, tell me how you got through it. Was it easy for you? Hard? What was the most difficult part for you. I know everyone's experience is different. Tell me everything [emoji4]

I know I know, this topic is beating a dead horse but it's my first post here and everything for BCBSM that I could find was almost 10 years old! I have BCBSM and have my last of my consecutive appts next week. My paperwork will then be submitted to my insurance company. What is everyones experience with the approval process for BCBS of Michigan? My surgeons office told me they only have 15 days to consider it but I'm hoping for (but not relying on) a much quicker response! Thanks everyone! It's great to be part of the group! Danielle

That's what they're here for. OK I know everybody on here has different pre-op diets different caloric intake etc. I'm struggling just like everybody else but the shakes I use have fruits and vegetables in the powder as well as nutrients. If you don't know what you can put in your shakes you should! I'm allowed around 200 cal per shake I'm also allowed 15+ grams of protein per shake which I go for the highest amount I can and that's 30 g & I'm allowed 15 g or less of carbs the powder I use does not have 15 g of carbs so I blend in fruit this is totally OK for my plan. If you're drinking a shake that has 30 g of protein & 1 g of carbs that's great but you're riski…

Hey everyone. I had a rough night on my 3rd night of my 2 week liquid diet. Been feeling good during the day but only getting around 360 calories a day and having trouble getting in all 64 oz of water. Maybe that's why. I constantly have to get up to use the bathroom due to so much water intake. Last night around 3am I was wide awake. Went to bathroom then started to feel nervous and anxious. Then I became dizzy and hot so I went to the door to get some fresh, cool air and next thing I remember was my husband picking me up off the floor. I had fainted. I don't know if it's my nutrients, if I'm dehydrated, or something else. Maybe blood sugar. What did you eat durin…

Just got my insurance approval, and my scheduled date. June 26 is the big day. I will be doing a two week liquid diet starting on June 12. I have to say leading up to this point it didn't really feel real. Now it has hit me like a bag of cement and I am feeling extremely nervous, I guess that is normal. It feels like I am closing a Chapter in my life. As excited as I am about staring a new one, I still feel extremely nervous about the change. The next few weeks feel like a "last Hurrah", doing the things that I enjoy doing I will not be able to do again, and I have to get them done now. Before I added fruit for my protein shakes I was feeling nauseous and my thoughts were cloudy I couldn't even drive. I called my Dietician who said I was going through carb withdrawal. He encouraged me to add carbs to my shakes so that I hit 15 grams. Although he did say make sure I do not go over 15 g he said to utilize the entire 15 g to avoid withdrawl. I posted how I make my protein shakes and I had people sayingthat they can't add fruit. Recheck with you Dietician I was told to add fruit well blended into a smoothie as long as I didn't go over 15 g of carbs. As long as you stay within your guidelines there's no reason you shouldn't be able to add carbs to your sha…

My surgery is scheduled for June 29th . Im so excited and so nervous at the same time, but I'm so ready for this lifestyle change. Ive always been over weight growing up. I was the chubby girl in high school . Now being 23, a mother to a very active 2 year old, and getting married in exactly 1 year i finally made the decision to get the sleeve. Im looking for friends to have as motivation, support, and inspiration through this journey. If anyone would like to add me on Instagram I'll gladly follow back. Maybe we can chat and exchange advice. And just have someone to talk to who can relate. My username is @crystallconrad [emoji846]

Does anyone have instagram where they are documenting their journey with VSG? My surgery is scheduled for June 29th and I am most definitely starting an IG page to document my journey. My current personal IG page is @diamond_diva1323 so you can follow me there and I will seriously add you to my VSG IG account which is @fit_n_fine_diva. Just as this forum is motivational so are pictures and quotes and progress captured on IG. I have gotten so many great food and exercise ideas just from the people I follow on IG that have had the VSG. Look towards sharing my journey with you and hope to see your journey soon too!

I think I'm becoming too obsessed with this whole journey. Too much so that I'm giving myself anxiety attacks. I want everything to go well and be prepared I'm working so hard even before the prop diet to change my eating habits, get my blood sugar levels down, and wrap my mind around this. I'm excited that things are falling into place but I'm waiting for something to fail. I guess that's why I'm too obsessed

Hi everyone, I am new here and so happy I found these forums! Question-the only thing I am waiting for is to pass my stress test. It's scheduled for June 9th. They had tried to do a normal one on a recumbent bike but I completely lost my breath and couldn't complete it. So now I have to have one medically induced. I'm a little scared of this. Has anyone here had to do that?

Hi I am from Philadelphia I am starting this new journey and would like to know if theirs anyone out there in the beginning stages that want to be buddies. I am having my fist appointment on June 2 2017. I have started this all before but because I was missing to much work for appointments I stopped. Now that I found a Dr. Who will let me do all my test but one the same day I see light at the end. I did not tell many people besides my husband and daughter so would like to befriend someone else who is starting out. I am open to others even if already started it will be cool to also know what's ahead.
