Just got back from the hospital for my pre-op testing, registration and to sign consent forms with the surgeon. Check in is tomorrow at 5:30 am and surgery scheduled for 7:30 am. This is finally really happening! I am happy they scheduled it so early in the morning so that my anxiety does not have a chance to build up. I am just ready to get it done. What a journey this has been so far! I have learned so much along the way. I'm very proud of the 36 pounds that I lost as I prepared for this surgery. I already feel the difference. I can only imagine how much better that will feel 100 pounds from now. I'm completely prepared to continue with the lifestyle and habit chan…

October I sat and spoke to a woman who had gastric bypass, and I decided right then this is my next step to trying to get this weight off. By December 22 I had my surgery date set on 1-12-17. I found a great company called Belightweight who arranged all I need to have it done. Since it was out of my pocket I need affordable price With quality. I had RNY done for $8900. It was like being in a really nice hotel room. I was alone during my stay for surgery. Everything was there I needed and so friendly and nice staff to help with anything I needed. Surgery was two hours, and recovery was 45 min. Then they put me back into my room. First thing I said was can I get up! And I d…

I'm on day 8 of my liquid diet. I'm down 11 lbs. every day is a struggle. I don't even want to eat bad food, I just want to chew something. The worst part of his is I have a texture issue and can't even force myself to eat the sugar free jello or yogurt because it makes me gag. I also don't like coffee. Anyone have any tips for the next week? P.S. I'm refusing to leave my house for the Memorial Day BBQ's because that'll put me right over the edge! Thanks in advance. You guys are always so great!

  10. I'm getting nervous! I'm from Philadelphia and my date is June 15th. My doctor put me on a 1,000 calorie a day diet for 2 weeks. I'm already 3 days in and I've lost 8 pounds. I am SO scared to cheat because to me this is a life or death situation, and I don't want to mess up.

I just had tomato soup oh my god it was so good, finally something that I like! I was wondering do you could the soup as a liquid when tallying how many oz of liquid you're taking in? My Dr said the protein shakes count toward that so I assume this would too? Also, since soup is a liquid , we shouldn't habe to do the whole no drinking 30 min before or after right? I have a list of vitamins/minerals from my NUT and I've been going thru catalog she gave me and I'm going nuts trying to find just the 'right' one. I see Fusion, Celebrate, Choice, etc and can't decide. Then I also need to take calcium citrate 3x a day. Then wondering if it's ok to go a little under or over amounts from NUT. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

So I should be completed with my 6 month requirement in July and HOPE to have surgery either in July or August. I told them first available, I ain't playing around. So here is my problem..I want to register for the Santa Hustle 5K early because because it is cheapest to do it now, and they want to know what size shirt I want...I told them i would LOVE a medium but I think that would be a bit too ambitious considering I am a 2XL now. I did tell them an XL and they told me if I need to change the size I can swap it out at packet pick up. If anyone is going to be in Galveston TX around DEC 11, its a great time.

Hi! I'm new to this group as of a few minutes ago: ) I'm halfway through the requirements process for my insurance for the sleeve surgery. Last month I was told that I had thyroid cancer. My thyroid was removed last week and I'll be having radiation sometime later in July to make sure they got it all. If I'm approved my surgery would be later in July. I'm so scared that my sleeve surgery will be delayed but thankful that I'll be cancer free. I was just wondering if anyone has been through anything similar. How long of a wait after radiation before I could have surgery? I don't meet with my bariatric office for two weeks so thought I'd see what feedback I could find here. …

  32. Hi I wanted to know if this is typical for people who have Aetna insurance in Florida or if it has been enhanced by my doctors office. I had my initial consultant in in January. I was told that my insurance requires that I have six monthly appointments for the nutritionist, one psych evaluation, and participate in six bariatric group sessions or see my own psychotherapist to cover the same topics. I had to follow a 1400 calorie diet, which I have not done successfully, in order to remain the same weight or lose weight from my initial weigh in. I cannot weight even one pound more or the insurance will not cover it. Finally, i have to exercise 3 times a week. I'm avera…

  33. I guess i'm just venting/whining. I had my initial consult today. I managed to hit the target BMI (35.5) but I don't want to confess what I had to eat to make sure the scale read what it did. Their electric tanita scale measured me 4# less than my home scale, which was a little disappointing. (this was after eating a steak biscuit and drinking 40 oz of fluid). All went well, but the dr and the patient rep both told me I cant lose any weight for the next 4 months (even though the fepblue insurance book doesn't say this). How am I supposed to do a supervised diet for 4 months and maintain this weight (my highest weight EVER)? I don't mind a weekend binge to …

I got my approval letter from Cigna in the mail Saturday! It has a surgery date of May 31st on it! I haven't spoke with my patient advocate yet, so I'm not sure that's my actual date. I'm thinking it must be the date my advocate gave them. So excited! I've been in the process since Sep 26th. I'm 5'1, 39 years young, 242 lbs. I have rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, spondylolisthesis, femoroacetabular impingement syndrome & a few other issues. I'm praying that the weight I've put on due to depression, inmobility & steroids, will give me my life back.

I've lost about 15 pounds from my highest weight which was 377 back in April. I'm at 362 now and my nutritionist Pre op weight was already hit but my surgeon wants me to get to 340 before I start the two week liquid diet prior to surgery. My nut has me on a modified liquid as of last week to boost the weight loss because it isn't coming off very fast. Right now I'm doing a premier protein for breakfast with 2 cuties, same for lunch and then a high protein low carb dinner, ex. 2 oz tuna, 2 cups broccoli, an oz of Swiss cheese. I saw my surgeon on 5/18 and I was at 365, I'm only down 3 pounds since then and I see him again on 6/9. Anyone have a similar experience and have a…

Also what is a surgery buddy? I came to this site hoping for encouragement and now I just feel more confused. Please help.
