I will likely be having my surgery in June (July at the latest). I still haven't told my main boss yet for fear of retaliation. You see, with me having been taking so much time off for all of my appts and the fact that our bookkeeper is retiring July 1 and I'm on the hiring committee for her replacement, I'm afraid he'll get mad. I don't know how to approach the subject with him. He's not the friendliest of people with me. Not that he's mean, just that I'm not one of his "pals" so to speak. How would you approach this? What would you say?

Having sleeve on Friday in UCLH in london on the NHS. Very nervous. I'm scared that they told me to lose a certain amount on weight and I've only lost half of it. Also nervous about the liver. I heard they can open and close people if they don't have a good liver.

So, I did quite a bit of work today to help make the process go a little faster once I finish my last medical weight loss class: both my psychological clearance and my final appointment with my GP have been scheduled on the same day. So, I clarified with the bariatric coordinator from Northern Colorado Surgical Associates that once she phones me the following Tuesday, I can get my consultation that week or possibly the following week, which will allow me to have surgery 4-6 weeks after that point. So, based on these timelines, the earliest possible date for my surgery is the 16th of August and the latest possible date for my surgery is the 8th of September. So now, I…

  19. CLOTHING! I have always been heavy but most of my weight gain is more recent. I really look forward to fitting into some of my old clothes. I have donated a lot of smaller things but there are quite a few pieces I kept. I also had to buy some bigger clothing throughout the year to hold me over. I can't wait to donate it all! And although it's always a struggle in the clothing stores, I can not wait for the day I no longer need to find the "plus size" section (or should I say the few racks shoved in the corner with no signage).

My surgeon sent in my packet for authorization on Friday evening and called me today (Monday) at 3 PM to tell me that they have received the insurance approval. I'm spinning a bit because I was expecting a full two weeks for the insurance to approve my surgery after all the hoop jumping. Even though my surgeons office said it normally takes five days for her to get a decision because she contacts them regularly. I certainly wasn't expecting an approval within 24 business hours! Wow All of this to just encourage everyone that it is possible to have things go smoothly and much more quickly than anticipated. For me, it was all thanks to patience, kindness, and …

  27. So my Lap Band doctor retired a few years ago and I went to see a new Bariatric doctor to get a fill 3 days ago. The nurse practitioner looked at the Fluoroscope (sp?) and my band had slipped creating a stomach hernia. That's when I found out Lap Bands are not forever! They have an 8-10 year life and I'm at year 10. The NP briefly explained the sleeve and I decided that since the lap band has to come out, I should go ahead and get the sleeve at the same time which the doctor is willing to do. They called me the next day and have me scheduled this coming Friday! Is that normal? For the lap band we had mandatory classes to take for weeks! Part of me really wants to…

I plan on discussing having the sleeve done at my next Dr appointment on the 25th of May. I have questions tho, Such as is there any conditions/comorbidities that expedite the the process? I seem to have them all. BMI 50, HBP, Diabetes, arthritis, thyroid issues, high cholesterol the whole gambit .. Will Welcare of Ky cover it? It is medicaid. What can I do starting now that will help get the process going?

  33. So, I have two more medical weight loss classes and I have to choose a surgeon from the practice. I think. And I'm going to go with Dr. Quaid. Not because I have any understanding of his experience, how many surgeries he's performed or his bedside manner... it's because the picture on the practice's website of him looks nice. I know this is the most asinine way to choose a surgeon and I know that I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. However, the only way available (that I know of) to meet and get a feel for the surgeons is to head to the Light for Life post-op support groups at Poudre Valley Hospital. Which are held once a month... from 6-8pm in a ci…

Ive lost weight without surgery before. I lost 60 pounds in a few years once. The problem was, after months of diet and exercise, I would hit a mental rough patch and get so down on myself, I'd binge. Then it would make me feel like a failure and I'd give up and gain weight back. Normal battle. I want the surgery because I want the life change and I do not want to be able to binge as much. I want the restriction and consequences if I ever start to fall. Today I was neither depressed nor tired of the diet. For some reason, I just wanted to eat and enjoy a movie with my family on Mother's Day. I am on the 2 week preop diet even though my surgeon said I only need 1 we…

I've been meeting with my doctor since January. I'm scheduled to have my surgery on June 26th, and I've gained eight pounds. I haven't been weighing myself and actively trying to lose weight since I decided to have the surgery. My doctor says that I should try to lose those eight pounds before the surgery because it will mean I will lose even more weight after the surgery. I'm just getting frustrated annoyed with myself. Have you experienced this? Am I stressing over nothing?

I might clear a room of people after eating them right now. They truly become the "magical fruit" for me! Any chance that might change after VSG? I'm thinking the last thing I need is to eat a super gas producing food while I'm still adjusting to the changes anyway?
