First post, be gentle with me... I spent Saturday reading a ton of stuff in the forums here, and now I can't find something after 3 days of trying on and off... Someone kindly posted a pic of their doc-provided, very specific exercise guidelines for each of the post-op recovery weeks/periods. It was the most helpful plan I've seen in all my clicking around the internet. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, a re-post of that sheet or a link to the thread it's in would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I am wondering if there are other people how have health issues that make it hard to exercise. My problem is pain and fatigue which makes me not have the motivation to go and exercise. Anyone have a suggestion that would help me to get my exercise in and not feel bad after

Anyone have a Fitbit? I joined the forum and had to change my profile picture the first day because men were messaging me constantly. I’m not interested in finding love, I’m interested in finding like minded friends. Anyway, if y’all have a Fitbit and want to be friends on that forum, my username is LLaneRN. I hope to meet some other people working towards getting healthy.

  11. I'm 2 months post gastric bypass and have been sedentary for years. Since the surgery I have been walking every morning, and I decided to join a gym! I have never been to a gym before. Tonight is my first appointment with the personal Trainer. Any tips, suggestions, advice? I feel kinda self conscious.

I want to work out, but feel so tired after work, and I get up so early to go to work.. ugh I know it sounds like excuses... I need inspiration, motivation and ideas, please!

  13. So, I'm 15 days out from surgery and am supposed to be walking 3 times a day. I just can't hit that because I get lightheaded and tired. How far/long were you walking at this stage? btw, I'm getting roughly 75 gm protein a day and meeting my water goals. Thanks!!

Running my first race on 5/19. It will be one hell of a race because it’s a long distance. I can complete the distance on my own an I am confident I will do well. My question is, what can I expect? How are these things structured? I am nervous because I’ve never done one of these and being around all those people running at the same time, lol. And advice would be appreciated :)

Does anyone use the sports tracker app? You can log your miles and what activity you do. Wslking, running, biking etc. You can share workouts with friends like mfp. I am going to start using today. My user name is millboh if anyone wants to be friends.

  19. Hey everyone! I do a half marathon every April, walking most of it. I've just had a RNYGB and although my surgeon has given me the green light to do the half marathon (six weeks post surgery) I'm concerned about fueling options as I suspect sugary fuels are likely to cause dumping... Does anyone have any experience with endurance events post-surgery or good portable food suggestions given the constraints of our procedures?

Hi friends, I'll be 1 year out from RNY on 1/31/19 - exciting! I was a naughty girl and didn't incorporate exercise until about 3 weeks ago. Since then I've been really diligent going to the gym 5-6 days a week, doing primarily cardio and core but strength twice a week as well. Since then the scale has been awful. I'm going up and down the same 2lbs over and over and over when I'm absolutely maintaining a caloric deficit (eating ~1100 calories a day). My diet obviously has been the key to losing for me, but now I'm so close to the finish line and trying to do good by myself with the exercise and it's stalled out completely. Has anyone else had any experience wit…

Yesterday my husband and I went for a hike in the local mountains to see the wild flowers which are absolutely spectacular this year, due to lots of winter rains. The weather was perfect, the birds were singing, the flowers were stunning (including some I had never seen before) and I just couldn't stop. We kept on going and ended up hiking 10 miles. This is the farthest I have been able to go in years, due to weight and joint pain. It was amazing. NO JOINT PAIN! (I have already had a total knee replacement, arthroscopic surgery on the other one, and multiple steroid injections in my hips - all for arthritis brought on by 5 decades of being overweight.) This is so won…

Well since my surgery I have been working out walking and walking videos. My surgery was on 3/20. So today I went to the gym to workout and it didn't go well. I tried to do the stationary bike and could only last 15 minutes That is so ridiculous to me before the surgery I worked up to one and half hours. Just don't know what to do now. Of course I'm going back tomorrow just don't understand why it was so difficult there. Just looking for any suggestions on what to do to make it better.

  33. So my surgeon said you have a greater risk of hernia form sneezing or coughing initially after surgery. He said there was a 10# lifting limit the first 2 weeks and after that said to take it slow and stop if it feels like I am straining. So here I am at almost 6 weeks post surgery and I have done cardio and very low weight higher reps at the gym on machines, not free weights. I am starting to do house things like easy gardening and vacuuming without pain. I am scared to push it and would like to know when you felt you could push yourself. Thanks,

I'm planning on having my surgery around the middle of April (God willing) and there's going to be a bike ride event happening about a month later. My question is this: has anyone whose had the RNY or Sleeve done managed to bicycle 30 miles a month out from surgery? Not mountain biking or anything like that, but paved bike trails.

  35. I'm 7 days away from being cleared to start exercising. All I have done for the past 5 weeks is walk. Not cleared for yoga, stretching, nothing. I am a paradox because I am so excited to exercise but have always gotten bored easily and would quit. Anyone else been in my shoes? Is there a workout routine you dont find so mind numbing to do?

  36. Hello is there anyone that is doing cycling after WLS. Looking for information on fueling but main thing how to stay hydrated. I usually do Century Rides at my old weight 280lbs. Now down to 230 but having a hard time with hydrating and eating.

  37. HI there! I'm just wondering if there's anyone in the Las Vegas area that wants a workout buddy/someone to commiserate with about their weight loss journey? I don't have the opportunity to make a lot of new friends and working from home makes it hard to leave my house. I want to maybe try some beginner classes...I've always wanted to try an aerial fitness class, but am nervous going alone. I was always too heavy before to even attempt one of those classes (I think their weight limit is 250). I have a treadmill at my house so even just doing at home work outs is cool with me. Let me know!

New to this forum and it's great! Just have to share how happy I am that this years full length training/running tights (is Autumn here in Southern Hemisphere) are HIGH WAISTED! I did a happy dance in the changing room - finally, something to hold the saggy jelly belly skin in to prevent the slapping! Last time I bought running tights they had these really low waist bands that barely covered that which should be covered, and after 5 steps my belly would break free and the tights would roll down and let the good times show!

Have put on 50lbs because of lack of exercise bu cant excercise because of the pain and cant lose weight because I cant exercise. My primary recommended Gastric Sleeve and use it as a tool, and not a cure. NEuroloist cant do anything more. ......................any suggesions? Oh. almost forgot. Harvard/Pilgrim will not cover Chronic Back Pain AS A CO-MORBID CONDITION

Sure as I can be I have this and possibly secondary fungal or other infection under boobs and belly overhang. Very careful with hygiene, drying, and finish with talc, but ironically worse since surgery. Maybe a less nutrition / more movement thing? Going to docs (never did before sleeve as couldn't face real or imagined "hard luck you're just fat" subtext and didn't want to slather already torn skin with oomphy steroids), but would really value experience of others. Hi everyone! There are several cool places to wall climb (I guess it’s called bouldering?!?!) and I’m trying to decide whether it’s something I’m physically ready for. I’m curious if it’s something anyone else on here tried and where you were weight/fitness-wise when you started. I’ve lost 80lbs but have been plateauing for a while, and trying to focus on doing interesting and new active things to both build good habits/fun active ways to spend my time AND maybe start toning up some things a bit. I’m just worried that at 200lbs maybe I’m not ready for the wall climbing type thing, and I don’t want to go try it and totally embarrass myself, you know? Anyone have exp…

There's a bunch of studios in lots of states... It's circuit training and it works with your heart rate... I've been doing it for a month and I have to say its a tough workout but I honestly love it and recommend it... I've never said that before about any workout in my life but I honestly love it It can be as tough as you want as everyone can push as far as they feel they want to or can take but you don't have to go at the same pace as the rest.. I think most studios have the first class for free so if there's one close to you try it... They have monitors showing your heart rate so you know on what zone you are and how much more you want to push and the "orange …
