Hi all, So reviewing all my information I received at various appointments as I prepare to have my surgery this coming Wednesday (jan. 29). In one of the pamphlets, which I believe is from the company that makes the Lap Band, mentions signing up for My Lap-Band Journey at their website lapband.com. It talks about doing this to have access to a bunch of tools, etc. For the life of me I cannot find where to sign up on their website. Has anyone done and can anyone tell me how to? Jessie

I've been looking at pictures of myself and a lot of other people when they were morbidly obese and this question came to my mind. Losing a substantial amount of weight really makes one look younger and I have no idea why.

Has anyone else had issues editing their signature? Ever since the site migrated to this new platform, I am unable to save the edits I make to mine. The update/change doesn't hold, despite me following the correct procedure (I don't write over 15 lines of text and I don't return to previous page from the saved changes.) I've submitted a ticket to ask why this is happening but never received an answer from the IT folks. Is this a site-specific problem, or am I just not understanding something?

I had my first fill 2 weeks ago. Feels likes there is no restriction in my band. Freaked because the scale said I gain 3lbs and I knew there was no way that was possible. I upped my Protein to 80 grams and upped m Water to 96oz'z. Then I had my husband hide the scales. Waited a week to weigh again. Lost those pesky 3lbs and another 3. I am a happy girl

I know that we're not technically supposed to have to "diet" after having lapband so much as just making the right choices and letting the band work its magic. However, it's still early in the game for me and I've only had 1 fill so I don't really have any restriction yet. I really need to control what I eat and how much I eat. I wish I had some sort of structured plan but I don't. So I was wondering....Does anyone here use Weight Watchers? If so, does it work well for you with the band? Is it difficult to meet protein needs on WW?

  7. What happens when your insurance no longer covers Lap Band??? Does this mean I have to pay out of my own money??? I need an adjustment asap my band feels too tight it has been about a month now and I can not afford to pay $300-$500 for an adjustment. I am looking for a Lap Band doctor near my area in San Bernardino or LA county who may be reasonably priced for cash patients. Thank You

Brand new bandster here Thursday the 23rd was my date. I'm still slowly recovering. Just excited that t gas pains are almost all gone! Still very fatigued and sore though! Feeling a little dehydrated today though so I need to make sure I get on my fluids! I am on fluids for at least a week which is getting kind of boring! Just happy I ate some tomato soup yesterday that was to die for!! I have lost 5 lbs but I know that's just water weight and not really counting it since I'm in healing mode (I'll count it if it stays off). Just wanted to say hii to everyone so happy to be on the other side!

I just wanted to share how thing are going since banding back. n November. So I've lost 33 lbs which is great but I pray it speeds up or at least doesn't stop. I am eating less have a whole list of foods I've tried that the Beast won't tolerate. I've had one fill about two weeks ago and now I'm down to a 1/2 cup of food. I eat more than that and it's a world of pain for me. I feel full for hours but I'm still battling head hunger in earnest. I wonder constantly am I doing this right? I eat till I feel full which is approximately when the hunger stops. I struggle with slowing down still and taking smaller bites (alot of eating on the go to undo) I pray constantly that I do…

  10. I'm 7 months post Lap Band and they found a hiatal hernia during a fill appt. I know most people have these fixed during Lap Band surgery. I did not get hernia until months after surgery. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I went to the doctor last Tuesday and he said I may have a leak. I am supposed to go back in if I lose restriction. The first few days after a fill I feel fine with smaller amounts....THEN.....I get hungry every couple of hours and could easily eat 6 oz of meat without a problem. I can stop myself sometimes.....other times I cave in. My port is turned and the needle from the fills may have caused collateral damage. Here is my question. He told me I could go back on the Protein shakes for 1-2 weeks. If I am trying to figure out if I have restriction (satisfaction) will I be able to tell with the shakes?

Ok so occasionally I experience upset stomach pain after eating. Around my lower rib cage area. It's not horrible. More like a tummy ache. It doesn't happen every time or every day. Just once in awhile.i see my surgeon on Feb 10th. Should I wait to discuss it with him then or call now? Could it be a slip? It also makes me get a really tight belly feel. And pushes my port out....... What do I do

I've been banded since May of 2012. I had 7.4 cc in a 10 cc band since last January. Friday I went to the dentist and found out that I have a dying nerve under a crown. The next day my face became swollen I started to have a very hard time getting my antibiotic down. Last night it was stuck for an hour. Then it seemed like fluids weren't going down and I'd bring it up. Met the doc at the ER today and she totally deflated me. Did an X-ray and thankfully no slip in the band. Doc is thinking my band may have become tighter due to the inflammation going on in my face from my abscesses tooth. I'll go back to the doc after my root canal for a refill which will be after 2/5/14.…

So this is a bit different, but I was hoping you all might help me out with a school project. I am a grad student in my last semester for social work. We are looking into ways that people can initiate change in their lives just by spending a little time every day doing something that addresses a problem area. My problem area is my band. I originally lost 80lbs and gained back 50lbs while in school. What I am doing to initiate change is searching for new knowledge over the next couple days about the relationship between the band and spirituality (any form of spirituality). How does it affect you? How does it help you? What is the role of spirituality in this weight loss jo…

Every attempt, I've always just gained the weight back plus more. I've thought about having the lap band in the past, and even went to an information session at the hospital, but I was nervous about the procedure not working so I never took it any further. Now, I'm at my highest weight, 265, and if I don't do something, I know I will keep gaining more. I understand that the lapband is not a quick fix, and that's fine. At this point, I don't want a quick fix, I want something that will help me change my lifestyle. I need to do something se…

I had my lap band surgery in November... My doctor tells me I have a total of 5cc's in a 14 cc band. I feel no restriction. I can eat a lot at a time and get hungary in between meals. Sometimes I worry that I have stretched my pouch out or my band has slipped. Is this possible? I have received two fills. Each time I have gone to my doctor to get my fills he has had trouble finding my port. Stuck me three times the first visit and twice on the second visit. I have continued to loose weight and haven't gained yet. With no restriction I feel I could easily gain weight. I can take a large glass if water and drink it in big gulps and it goes down fine... I started this summer getting several colds and losing my singing voice for almost 2 months (very distressing for a singer). Then I started having problems keeping food and liquids down and some burning. When I went to the doctor he assessed there might be some inflammation from some food that was caught and possibly some reflux. So he removed some fluid from the band and over the next 2 weeks I was able to get food down but the burning still continued but at a lesser degree. I was sent for fluoroscopy and discovered my band had slipped. Going to see him on Monday. Stressed...Distressed...Anxious...and a few more depressing adjectives is how I feel right now....Found out …

Just wanted to share so anyone pregnant can be aware this is a possible complication. Hope all is doing great and losing weight!!

  25. As we approach 2014 I thought what a great idea it would be to reflect on where we've been and what we've done and where do we want to go from here. 2011 was the darkest times for me. I could hardly stand up for 10 minutes at a time and walking the grocery store was a real chore. My Wife ended up doing the shopping and I sat in the car. Helping her into the house with the groceries was another chore where I had to sit and rest and catch my breath. I HAD to do something. I was convinced I was heading down a path which led to a grave. I was so fortunate that I had no health issues aside from being morbidly obese. For such a long time it was all about the numbe…

Just rec'd my first fill today. I have a migraine (that was starting before the fill), feel a bit nauseated (but moving around with a needle in my belly started that), but the most frustrating thing is that I feel starving and I'm stuck with liquids for 24 hours. I keep drinking the fluids to try to "fill me up". Reminds me of the initial pre-op diet hunger. This is going to be a long day.

I completed the yello, green, red form related to foods and I'm still 90% in the Green zone. Other than the band in place, it has no Fluid in it. I've made dietary adjustments to eating healthier foods, packing foods in small portions and using MyFitnessPal to track my food. I average 700-900 calories a day. I've struggled with hypoglycemia for a long time. Small portions every 3 hours helps with no hunger problems. Did you get a fill at your first appointment post surgery? Hi everyone ! I was originally banded in 2007. I lost 50 lbs initially , then had several band issues and had fluid removed. I've gained back about 30 lbs but luckily didn't return to my pre-op weight. My band has been empty for a couple of years now. I had an UGI/KUB yesterday to check band placement and for any possible issues. Everything looks good , just a wide open band. So yesterday I re-started my journey . I'm having to reteach myself the bandy lifestyle! Please feel free to offer up your most helpful tricks of the trade

I am doing everything by the book. Weighing and measuring. 800 to 1,000 calories a meal. Getting all my water and Protein. Exercise 5 days a week. Cardio and weights. Since being banded, I've been really trying to watch what I eat. I try to make good choices in food and I measure everything. And now I can't help but think, it's NO wonder I was so fat when I started this journey! My portion sizes were totally out of control!!! And I had NO idea until I started reading labels and measuring all of my food. Wow! I can't wait until I reach the "green" zone so that my band will do all of the measuring for me but, until then, I'll keep reading labels and measuring my food for sure. This has definitely been an eye-opening experience for me!

However I am having cramping pains in left side ( stomach?) I have read other people speaking of this. How long does this last? I am seeing my surgeon Friday , but some times people who lived through it, know more I had my band 12 years ..very successful and I am worried. I don't think it is gas from the surgery because it is localized to my stomach . Thanks! Can't wait to get my port back..life is so strange without it..
